Grew up tagging along with my older brother, Sitting on the wings, driving down the road to the fields. The sound brings me back. My parents still have it.
Love the sound of the 730, drove many different John Deere tractors while growing up on the farm. I think that I am the only one dumb enough to fall off of a moving 730, get runover by the wagon of wheat that we were pulling and three months later when I could walk again, get up on the same tractor and think nothing of it. I never lost my love of Johnnie poppers.
What a tractor, who wouldn't love the sound of that old two-cylinder John Deere? The 730 had 360 cubic inches which is 180 cubic per cylinder! But the 730 was dwarfed by the monster 830 with its 470 cubic inch 2-cylinder engine. The giant double cylinder has a 6.125 bore and a whopping 8-inch stroke!
Those John Deeres will last forever if you maintain them.My father in-law had one on the farm. Crank start. It smacked me a couple of times. Thanks for sharing Pat.
The glass thing at the top is a pre air cleaner. Collects all the heavy dirt and bugs before it goes into the oil bath air cleaner. They were a option.
Hey Pat. This is off topic, but I am thinking about installing a radiator cooling fan instead of having my motor fan in my Fargo. I might be a little tight for room seeing I am installing a V8 instead of the straight 6 cylinder under the hood. Is there a size in RPMs or anything I should be looking for? or just get one that fits the area of my Rad??? Can I have your email address for off topic questions? Or do you want me to ask questions anywhere? Thanks Pat. Keep on a Rock'n and a Roll'n.

We love our 730! Great tractor! Used it for everything when I was a kid. Always started to no matter what temp!
