@@thomastrapp5737 Says who? This music is self-centered, instead of being centered on Christ. Oh, and news flash: The younger crowd prefers tradition. You know, we didn't start to have these types of issues until after Vatican II...
There’s a lady in St Peter Parish Keypines In the Keys of Florida who sang this song as recessional song. I’m inspired to sing this also in our Parish in Homestead Florida. Go make a difference!
Neither beautiful nor Catholic. Banal, repetitive, devoid of any artistic, theological, musical, or poetic beauty - limited to the base stimulation of modern pop music, and artistically bankrupt when compared to its best examples, not to mention diametrically opposed to everything that the Catholic Church represents musically and liturgically.
It is a beautiful song it was a favorite song all of us in choir practiced for church and at the end everyone was watching us and they were smiling they loved the dance and the song and I’m gonna share it too!
Hi I’m Monique from Queensland Australia, Burleigh Parish . I play the flute in the choir. I met Steve Angrisano a few years ago. He played this song and a few others and was amazing! God bless!
There are a lot of versions of this song out on youtube, but I really like this one. Who is performing this? My church is using this as the theme song for our fall Missions Conference this year.
The difficulty of explaining why I hate "Go Make a Difference" is that there are ten thousand reasons all amounting to one reason: that the song is terrible.
We sing this song a lot in our parish as the sending forth song. It's really upbeat, with a great message, and gives something to think about when the parishioners are leaving church!
Can't tell if this is a sincere statement about how this is used as a recessional hymn or sarcastic statement about how this song represents the apex of banality that represents post-Vatican II hymnody that drove many people from the church.
@@DetectiveThursday Bruh this song is about when Jesus ascended to heaven and told us to go forth and spread the good news to all nations. It's only used for the closing song and has never been used for communion. This is obviously a song about joy and hope, there are plenty of other songs that are more timid and solemn that focus on The Passion. I hope you'll be a little more open minded with this topic, Farewell and peace be with you 🕊️

Do you ever try the classics? Just curious about how a congregation in Tokyo would react. Pange Lingua, Ave Maria, Agnus Dei (Steve Mullen’s arrangement is beautiful)

I wish they played this at mass.At my church only at youth mass would songs like this at mass. And Mr Gestrich is right, chanting for an hour is not that useful unless you happen to be 800 years old.
Nikolas Gestrich I do. The Gregorian Chant is the sung prayer of the Church. This…inspires me to “go make a difference” in requesting higher standards for liturgical music at Mass.
We have to respect each way of singing and praying. Some likes chanting and some loves jolly happy sang. Both can bring us to worship the Lord. Peace of Christ to both sides 🥰🥰🥰♥️
This ditty (to call it a "hymn" is counter to the definition and devalues the great tradition of hymnody both Catholic and Protestant) is a clear example of how the St. Louis Jesuit-inspired musical establishment following Vatican II has utterly failed. The rhythm is far too complex for any congregation to reasonably sing on their own - at best, they can follow along to a praise band. So it is not true congregational singing as often touted. The text and structure are theologically bankrupt and devoid of any real focus on God. It is all about "us" and what "we" can do - hardly Christian in focus. Not to mention the complete lack of poetry and banality of the subject matter. The music is simply lacking. There is no way around this - it is not even good popular music, let alone anything that should be permitted within ten feet of a Catholic Church. If this were played on the radio, nobody would take it seriously - it would be panned, and rightly so. The St. Louis Jesuits and their ilk have completely failed in their attempt to bring high-quality popular music to the churches. All they have succeeded in is cultivating a brain-dead, theologically lacking (and occasionally heretical), musically terrible, non-congregational, and thoroughly embarrassing brand of repertoire that was dated in the 1970s and positively ancient now. Catholics should be ashamed that Steve Angrisano wrote this piece in the vein of supposedly Catholic music. From the standpoints of taste and quality, it is one of the worst inventions to ever be foisted upon the Church.
@@iainmorrison863 Unfortunately, what is appropriate for Mass and what is truly suitable for a congregation to sing (rather than sing along to) is not merely dependent on what your congregation "likes". In fact, what people "like" should hardly be important at all. After all, Mass itself is not celebrated for the benefit of the congregation, but solely as a sacrament to God. Therefore, selecting ditties that only refer to us is both inappropriate and distorts the actual liturgical purpose of Mass.
