Chad Stroup was my best friend. I was one of the friends and family that went looking. To clarify one thing, he was found with multiple light scratches on face. Where he was found was in fact rocky and Chad was found face down. So it is possible he had a seizure because of the arythmia. Thank you for bringing attention to my friend!

One of our six children was a 6’8” charismatic young man of 26 about to graduate Georgetown with a double masters’ degree. Everyone wanted to be around him, especially his 4 brothers and 1 sister. In early March 2014, he took a nap because he didn’t feel well. His fiancé tried to wake him up later and there was no response. Ryan was dead from a heart attack with no previous health or heart problems. Next we lost another son to paranoid schizophrenia, and he’s homeless somewhere despite his BofS degree, and career as an editor. I’ll just toss in that I’ve been bedridden (can’t walk) for years due to a neurological pain disease and my husband (together since ‘75) has Stage 4 cancer. Yet we laugh, one son lives with us, the rest of the kids live nearby and the grandkids are multiplying. We have so much to be thankful for.

(Hugs) my oldest son passed away unexpectedly at 28, so I understand what it's like. In doing genealogy, one of my ancestors had the same thing happen as your son; after traveling from Ohio to Indiana he laid down to take a nap and never woke up. It was late 1700s, and I have always questioned it. Your post put my mind to ease. Thank you for sharing.

I live in Alaska and stay in remote areas, all alone, for several weeks. Fly in and boat in areas. Bryan is right about the InReach, it has helped me a few times with reordering supplies and requesting help when I'm stuck and my cellphone has no coverage. (Stuck with a truck)
2 compasses, keep one on your body, not in your pack
4 gps, 2 on your body, a cell phone and a garmin watch, and 2 in your pack.
    2 head lamps
    3 flashlights
2 big lighters in your jacket and 2 in your pants pocket, 2 in every pocket in your pack. They are very lightweight.
Duct tape, super glue, bandages, and antibiotic cream
3 times the medication you need. If I'm out for a week, I take three weeks of meds. Pilots can't always get to you right away.
**** Uncommon sense**** Modify your behavior and don't get sick or injured. Getting sick, all alone, in the wilderness, sucks and it takes real effort to perform daily activities. Injuries can kill you quick, or slow. Alaska is very unforgiving.

My mother died suddenly in 1985 from Heart Arrhythmia. In fact, she was at work and the woman who worked with her said that she had to leave the Conference Room for a couple of minutes and when she got back, my mother was sitting in the chair holding her chest. She asked my mother was she okay and all my mother could do is shake her head NO, I'm not okay. The Medics were called and when they finally got to her, she was totally blacked out. My mother stayed in a COMMA for 3-weeks and died and needless to say our family was absolutely devastated. The Doctor told our family that she in fact died from Heart Arrhythmia. So yes, I believe that that young man could have possibly died with that Silent Killer. I know young man that you have heard of High Schoolers who just drop dead on the field, who had no known heart problems and that more than likely was Heart Arrhythmia.

Well I went to my mail box to get my mail and found foot prints in lightly thawed ground at the end of my plum trees. Called the University and ask how big would a Bigfoot be with foot length of a size ladies 8 shoe. They said about 4 foot tall. I don’t live close to anyone and in the mountains. So who made those prints. Called my daughter she said do you think someone is pulling a prank on you Mom, I said no. People don’t walk bear foot in this kind of weather.

29 year Paramedic here. My thoughts. It is very easy for someone to have a underlying cardiac arrhythmia issue and it not be diagnosed and the person can appear healthy even during a routine physical. Many arrhythmias are brought on by a metabolic imbalance of electrolytes in the body. If he had a sudden cardiac arrhythmia it can lead to a seizure but not the violent flailing seizure your thinking of which is a grand mal seizure. The seizure after arrhythmia can be very subtle bringing him to his knees first and then to the floor. It's very easy for someone to fall and not have cuts or bruises apparent after several days of being deceased.
It's totally plausible that this young man did have an arrhythmia which led to a seizure then sudden death. On autopsy there are certain proteins that are expressed into the blood when sudden cardiac death occurs and these can be tested for. They are not able to test for a "seizure" unless it originated from a clot or hemorrhage. Its the natural conclusion the forensic pathologist would make on autopsy given the predicted chain of events. Hope this helps. I've seen this happen all to often and lately its become more frequent in young men his age after getting a Covid 19 vaccination. We need some serious research into these possible correlations.

I’m a retired head & neck surgeon. I did a pathology internship in the US Navy prior to my surgery residency. My first autopsy was on a previous healthy 19 year old man who collapsed and died during physical training.
A thorough autopsy was otherwise unremarkable except for specialized studies performed by a pathologist with expertise in cardiovascular disease. He did additional dissection and microscopic examination of the heart’s conduction system.
This revealed scaring in a critical area, significant enough to severely disrupt normal cardiac electrophysiology. The pathologist concluded that a fatal arrhythmia was the cause of death.
Drowning would have been obvious on post mortem examination of the lungs. There is no need to invoke seizure as a contributing factor.

Ok as a former ICU rn I have a couple guesses and explanations.there’s only a couple sudden death causes. Primary area is the brain young ppl may die of intracranial bleeding caused by a vascular anomaly this is usually clear on autopsy. A possible OD would be diagnosed after blood draw. Spasms of the coratid arteries could potentially cause a sudden loss of blood supply to the brain without obvious signs after death. The other area to be affected would be the heart. A sudden heart stoppage or arrhythmia would not be obvious upon exams. A sudden large heart attach would be visible as an area of dead tissue on exam. Anything else would be difficult to see.

I was a practicing Registered Nurse in different settings for 48 years. Not all seizures are the kind where your arms and legs flail around. In fact the term seizure can be misleading. Ultimately if he had an arrhythmia, his heart could have stopped not be filling and pumping enough blood to sustain him in an upright position. Then he could have just fallen perhaps gently into the Creek.

Great job on digging into this story, unfortunately sometimes there are hidden health issues. My 21 year son who has been healthy his whole life just recently had a seizure out of no where, fortunately he was home and not driving. And even now after numerous dr apps and tests there is no conclusive reason why. When my son was coming out of his seizure he didn't no his name or where he was.
If Mr Stroup had a seizure, became disoriented, or hit his head its very plausible to think that he could have died from hypothermia after waking and ending up in the creek. Just my observation.
Please enter me in drawing and thanks for all your stories.

One night last summer they did not go away he called me and I took him to the ER. He was having arrhythmia problems. Now he is 43 years old and wasn't diagnosed til last year so this kid could have had that problem as well. Caffeine is a real problem for people with this.

I lost a good friend in a car accident, the cause of the crash was never determined. However a possible theory they said was heart arrhythmia but there was no way to know for sure. There was no test to prove or disprove the theory, whether that's always the case I don't know.
As far as this hunter goes it sounds pretty dubious, he's certainly not the first missing person to be found dead in shallow water. Very odd. Good video Bryan.

Arrhythmia doesn't always show up when you're at the doctor's office. It can be triggered by environmental causes. I had a heart murmur as a kid, and I have had episodes of arrhythmia that came on suddenly. What I do when this happens is I stop immediately, grab ahold of something and try to slow my mind and my heart. I can do this faster than most people. Then I try very hard to ignore the panic building up naturally, and just calmly focus on what my heart is doing. Then it starts working again correctly. This is how it has worked for me. But the arrhythmia stops as suddenly as it starts (for me).

    • @GarmrK9
      @GarmrK9 Рік тому +6

It is dependent upon the arrhythmia. What you are describing could very well be SVT or ST which are rapid heart rates and not lethal. Other arrhythmias can be so lethal that you would not have time to even understand what was happening before you die. I am glad you are not having the lethal variety but do please take care of yourself and follow-up with your cardiologist as recommended.

Definitely agree that you cannot spot an arrhythmia when someone has already passed away. As far as seizures go, there are different types. An old boyfriend would suffer seizures but would stare blankly. He had warned me about this on our second or third date, and it happened a few times throughout our relationship. It was normally followed by absolute fatigue. He would need to lay down almost immediately and sleep. Theoretically then he could have had a seizure and not have thrashed around, but I don't know how they went from arrhythmia, to seizure, to drowning. If he didn't have a previous history of arrhythmia or seizure, I think the odds are highly unlikely that in the first onset he would die even if he was in a secluded area.

Later found out that he had epilepsy and failed to tell anyone. He wasn’t fired for that but they found a reason later to get rid of him. I talked to him while he was still working there and he said it felt like his brain would freeze from back to front, he could feel it coming on but couldn’t do anything about it.

He was struggling in 2nd grade, after always doing so well. He was losing so much time seizing so much. But it just looked like a blank stare. The scan showed the seizures happening. He took anti-seizure meds for @ 6 years and then they stopped.

Living in AZ you have to drink at least a gallon of water a day even in moderate-high 70s weather. Sun poisoning you get an immediate severe headache, stomach ache, cold sweats, everything whites out, possible pass out, and overall horrible feeling plus possibly leads to sunstroke. Young men with undetected heart weaknesses, or the defects that cause aneurysms, are often hit suddenly, unexpectedly. I can also easily imagine a person feeling sudden weakness going to shallow water to try and get water.
If this was inevitable and an unknown weakness, it seems a blessing that he passed suddenly, unaware perhaps, in a beautiful place.

Greetings, Bryan. You might want to check out a new case in Lancashire England. Nicola Bulley was walking her dog along the River Wyre and disappeared. Her dog pulled free of its harness, and fortunately, someone recognized it. Her phone was found on a park bench with an app still open to a work meeting she attended.😮

I’m from the U.K. The “working” theory at the moment is that Nicola fell into the nearby river and drowned.
But no trace of her has been discovered yet.
Why she’d be near the river at all hasn’t been explained either.
Again…”Working theory”, the dog was in it and she’d tried to get it out OR the dog lost their ball in it and she tried to retrieve it and missed her footing.
But as the dog was apparently found, I’m not sure that that theory holds up. (However, nowhere does it state in what condition the dog was found in, for example whether or soaking wet/totally dry/somewhere in between.
So because it’s a mystery, it’s all over the media here. TV/Radio/Newspaper etc…
The whole country is hoping she’s found very soon ❤

In cases of sudden cardiac arrest, there is often an underlying heart issue. My own hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM )has caused me to black out. That he fell fairly gently also makes sense. Witnesses to one of my attacks said I fell so gracefully, even tucking my skirt over my legs. About 1 in 500 people have HCM. Often discovered when a young athlete collapses during or right after intense effort. Like on a hillside. Tragic, but I don't think there was any foul play or cover up. I had open heart surgery last year. Now much better. Two uncles and a cousin died from it.

Statistically it’s not that uncommon; I think it’s like 4% are born with it they think, that’s like 1 in 25 people.

Not covid related. That is a lie. Research when the vaccines came out and when the cardiac issues began. Learn that 100% had been jabbed.

Yes this sounds like what happens with an arrhythmia. I know a family where they have the inherited type of arrhythmia. Their father came home from work in the 1980’s and sat in his chair and died. All of the offspring had the same condition as did his brothers.
I do believe the conclusion. However, I don’t know how they concluded he had a seizure unless there was some biting of the tongue that would not be visible to a lay person.

If he had a seizure, he may have felt odd beforehand and sat down or something. Arithmia can happen to anyone, at any age, and can be brought on by stress.
Recently my neighbor who was only 40, was fit and lived a very healthy lifestyle, just keeled over suddenly and died, while walking his dogs. He was the last person on earth you think would die like that. They did an autopsy and determined it was probably a previously undiagnosed heart defect he was likely born with.

I have an arrhythmia that didn't surface until my mid-twenties, though I was probably born with the heart condition that causes it. One dr told me that most ppl don't feel it, like I do, they just pass out. My heart rate goes up to 287 bpm. I was told I could live 45 minutes in that rhythm. I also have an inverted T-wave; which is half of the heart condition that most often causes young ppl to just drop dead - long Q T syndrome. (I've just googled-researched, so it could be misinformation). I always felt perfectly fine and completely healthy, and then for no reason I could fathom, my heart starts beating crazy. The first time it happened I was at a park. I was the only adult and I had 5 children with me (mostly neighbors kids) 3 and 4 year Olds! All I could think about was getting them home safe!
I just want his friends & family to know that these things happen and no one, even the person it happens to, would guess anything was wrong! It doesn't hurt either. I'm so sorry for their loss 💙

In the absence of both autopsy reports, lab tests, and photos of the body this is speculation, but when a young apparently healthy person dies suddenly and there is no sign of a disease process, arrhythmia is the diagnosis through exclusion. Of course one cannot detect abnormal heart beat after death. A number of young athletes die with arrhythmias related to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy undetected prior to death. In the general sense, seizure means a sudden attack. One suffering a fatal arrhythmia could briefly feel faint, stumble forward and collapse unconscious.
