He tried it from the half-way line against Czechoslovakia and earlier in this game against Mazurkiewicz by volleying his throw out straight back at him - alas they didn't quite work.
Tostao’s passing was otherworldly. He had two assists and made the chance for Pele. But the first assist for Clodoaldo’s goal was especially impressive.

Ese partido tuvo mucho en juego, Pelé no podía caer ante Uruguay después de haber prometido a sus padres desde el mundial del 50 que algún día los vengaría, recordemos que Uruguay les arrebato la gloria y hubo hasta muertos en Brasil... Además en este mundial del 70 ambas escuadras llegaban con 2 títulos mundiales y eso marcaba una rivalidad, incluso más que la que hoy tienen Argentinos y brasileros, ese era en aquel entonces el super clásico suramericano por los antecedentes... De manera que Brasil se impuso y a partir de ahí demostró reponerse alas adversidades consiguiendo que Pelé ganase su 3 título mundial...!
Antes de la primera copa mundial en 1930, las olimpiadas eran el campeonato mundial de fútbol, y Uruguay ganó la medalla de oro en las dos Olimpiadas en que se jugó fútbol antes de 1930.
Por eso la FIFA reconoce a Uruguay como tetra campeón y en su camiseta llevan 4 estrellas.
También llegaron a las semifinales de Sudáfrica 2010.

Pelé was already 30 years old and didn't score in this game, yet we can see that he was from another universe. His influence in the game was insane, his 'out of the box' thinking was phenomenal, his trick against the keeper was pure magic, he even managed to avenge the defender who was fouling him with a nudge and make it seem like it was a foul against himself 😂

Grande Uruguay en ese mundial de Méjico 1970 y la selección Uruguaya jugó el amistoso en mi ciudad AMBATO ECUADOR en el estadio BELLAVISTA ,tenia 13 años de edad y fui al estadio a mirar ala grande selección de URUGUAY ,Mazurkievch el arquero Mújica ,Pedro Rocha Aldo Mineiro ,Morales, Forlán el abuelo de Cachabacha , Los hermanos Cubillas , no me recuerdo cuantas más ,pero esa selección Uruguaya fue bien poderosa en fútbol en ese mundial de Méjico 1970.

I love your videos . It's brilliant to see these pictures I haven't seen since '74 . No VAR , no players looking silly with their arms on their backs . And a ref that stands his grond in a difficult game . Those face I used to know so well . I had a big poster of this team , hung next to my favorite Ajax team from 1972 .

Para quem acha que o Pelé era só marketing. Gênio. Maior seleção da história do esporte. Zagallo em 70 revolucionou o futebol
Errado. O time foi montado por João Saldanha. O ditador Medici tentou interferir na seleção, querendo forçar Saldanha a convocar o pereba Dadá Maravilha - por ser bastante popular. O técnico não aceitou a interferência, saiu e Zagallo entrou no lugar. Pegou o time montado. Só teve o mérito do preparo físico, levando o time com antecedência ao México, para se adaptar à altitude - por isso que a seleção "sobrava" em campo no segundo tempo, enquanto os adversários não tinham mais gás.
E quem revolucionou o futebol foi Rinus Mitchells, no Ajax e na seleção da Holanda, com o conceito de "futebol total"- deixando muitos perplexos, inclusive Zagallo.

It’s funny, in 1930 and 1950 Uruguay won the World Cup and in 1970 and 2010 they made the semi finals. With the exception of 1990, where they lost to hosts and eventual semi-finalists Italy, they make the final 4 or better in the World Cup every 20 years or so it seems.

I do appreciate these uploads, but FIFATV please don’t accompany the classic matches with new commentary, it really cheapens the experience (and also belittles the intelligence of the viewers and fans). The original English or Brazilian commentators would be great! And the mispronunciations are appalling given these are classic players (and stadium) which most fans can pronounce.

El Indio I've got the original recordings, as I've got a lot of these classic games from the classic era of football in my collection & it's Hugh Johns on the recording I've got.
He always refer to Pelé as. O'Rei Pelé, meaning. The King Pelé. That was Pelé's full title he had, during his playing career.
Neither Maradona or Messi had that type of title, during their playing careers.
Johns reckoned though.The Dutch mastercraftsman Johan Cruyff, the finest player he'd ever seen. Which was some accolade, as he saw such luminaries as Matthews, Puskas, Finney, Di Stéfano, Garrincha, Pelé, Charlton, Eusébio, Beckenbauer, Best, Zico, Maradona.

Dois belos passes de Tostão para os dois primeiros gols do Brasil, sem contar no passe para o drible de Pelé contra o goleiro Mazurca. Contra o Peru, Tostão já havia feito dois gols e dado o passe para o gol de Rivelino. Contra a Romênia, deu um passe magistral de calcanhar para o gol de Pelé e foi o autor intelectual do gol contra a Inglaterra. Nas eliminatórias, foi o maior. Tostão só não é mais endeusado pq se machucou precocemente, com apenas 26 anos, não mora no eixo RJ/SP e nem gosta de badalação. Com apenas sete anos de seleção, ainda hoje é um dos maiores artilheiros, herdou a camisa 10 de Pelé e, certamente, seria o protagonista do Brasil na Copa de 74, mas o destino não quis, uma pena.
Jogou muito, pena que teve de parar cedo. O Cruzeiro era um timaço.

Pelé era un monstruo, pero lo que jugaba ese Brasil... por Dios, no había punto flujo. Tostao, Rivellino, Everaldo. Del lado uruguayo, desconocía la calidad de Cubilla y la de Mazurkiewicz, un arquerazo top mundial. Extraordinario partido.
Fue un partido tremendo, Brasil sufrió lo suyo ante un Uruguay poderoso.
Luis Cubilla jugó en el F C Barcelona, no cuajó, pero en México fue de lo mejor.
Creo que es el mejor partido de Pelé en el Mundial, codazo aparte. Ahora habríamos visto a un jugador que recibe ese golpe caer por el suelo, retorciéndose de dolor, en cambio, el futbolista uruguayo sigue tan fresco.
