Picking the right songs is like when they have movie auditions. Reminds me of the acting audition of the cast of the original Star Wars; when you saw them you knew they were it and the chemistry was there. Same as for the songs that made it into this game, they worked well together and the musical chemistry is there. I'll never forget the Boss Battle music when playing Life Force the Arcade, simply Intense.
The game Shovel Knight sounds like it had a VRC6, even though it couldn't have been equipped with one. I guess that is a good reason why I love that game.
Shovel Knight was written with the VRC6 expansion chip (as well as the 2a03). Jake Kaufmann first tested the waters with a bonus soundtrack of Bloodrayne Betrayal and had really mastered the chip by the time he wrote the soundtrack for Shovel Knight.
I feel there are some weird notes on the 9. Thunderbolt (Lifeforce Stage 2/ NES Stage 5) (8:28) in the last part of the song. But ABSOLUTELY massive arrangement. Love it.
What's weird is that it's not unused in either Salamander or Life Force arcade. Same for the two songs before it. Maybe they're unused in different ports of the game...?

VCR6 sounds are so beautiful and make me cry in a good way
Wow, the composer is a creative genius. Those unused pieces of music are awesome also.

If I ever played the MSX version and got the bad ending, I wouldn't be upset at all. Departure Again KICKS ASS!
39:32 and 40:22
I love these so much!
ugh, last exit is one of the best tracks to come from salamander. sad it's so system exclusive and wasn't included on many other versions.
Love the Arcade Opening & Operation Seedleek.
Absolutely perfect. Been wanting to hear something like this for so long
That one dislike is Zelos or Dr. Venom
Man this sounds so awesome!
Moonspin/Last Exit sounds fucking amazing! 20:08
this ost is 🔥 🔥 🔥
This is so sick!!
This is freaking awesome!
Cool, but all the MSX counterparts are better, IMO.
I'm so happy this exists
40:22 Wow! Really like this one!
Definitely sounds better when you give it percussion. :)
29:02 if even its a unused theme, i love it!
Jão8bits listen to the version in Life Force JP Arcade l. You'll love it (look for "Lifeforce Unused Bgm 3").
MSX版にこんなのあったっけ?!と焦った!こいつはびっくり!

@@travist8794 That explains many things.

Where can I download this? UA-cam compresses the audio quality of the videos quite a lot.
12:11 Me reminds to Lion King of Sega Genesis, precisely the first level O: .
Where did you found these tracks? I can't found them on youtube.
18. 18:36 Departure Again (MSX Version Bad Ending)
wow, thanks so much!
31:27
34:34 - Not sure why but that one song would be more appropriate for a Castlevania game.
What's weird is that it's not unused in either Salamander or Life Force arcade. Same for the two songs before it. Maybe they're unused in different ports of the game...?
Slash Fighter最高!
7:40 assess arms supply situation then decide within time limit
Excellent!

الافضل على الاطلاق
واروع ما سمعت
Doesn't sound to far off from the msx or pce engine versions but very nice renditions of these songs!
Konami from the olden days.
THIS VERSION IS BEST!!
I love poison of snake

Patch this too the game!
Is there an NSF version of this to download?
Epic songs at 22:27 & 11:03. Someone as know the name of them?
28:08 It's a some Castlevania tribute?
Doubt it. Salamander came out 1 year before Castlevania, iirc.
Prototype Castlevania song probably
