My head cannon is that there are other continents out there, but they are inhabited by normal humans that can’t control chakra, non ninjas. Hence why they weren’t called to help in the 4th World War, and why they weren’t involved in any ninja stuff. This also answers the question of “Where are all the regular people in the naruto world?” Because at first glance it looks like there are only the ninja villages and no other cities.

Doesn't make much sense for the shinobi continent to have created all these things and yes, to me, Naruto's last chapter (with all the skyscrappers in Konoha and stuff) just showed the state of the Ninja world after Naruto the seventh hokage started to open to the outside world and stopped the isolationist policy that was very much in place before.

What's also interesting is how Kishimoto stated in an interview that in his mind, he sees Naruto as "American", Sakura as "European" and Sasuke as Japanese in phenotype and behaviour. We already know there are black pepple in Naruto, which surprisingly you didn't mention. They're mostly, if not all, from the Land of Clouds, and that is the northern most part of the continent as we can see. Which makes the geography even weirder. Then again it's a world inhabited by ninja aliens from the 10th dimension so who am I to say lmao Oh also they do have cars. They show it in Boruto I believe I should make my own video explaining this more properly. I love what you did, just wish a bit more thought went into the details. A lot of the tech they have can be rationally explained for good reasons
I always thought the more complicated devices like walky talkies and VCR and stuff mostly functioned through a combination of ninjutsu and ninja science. I mean, look at Oroagimaru's labs. All of them looked like they came straight outta evangelion or something lol
I don't think so, when even non-ninjas can use them. My favorite theory is that all the technology was imported on the condition that the outside world never sells guns to the ninjas. That would explain the stupid juxtaposition of TV's being common but there is no guns at all despite it being easier to manufacture and most people aren't ninjas who can level building with a punch.
@@sunshineskystar My headcanon for these kind of scenarios in fantasy stories is just all that tech is using chakra, or whatever magic system is in place for that world, to accomplish lots of the features of modern technology. I remember in Fairy Tail there are scenes where the characters essentially drive a car using their own magic as the fuel. Think about it. Lots of our technological innovation is due to the fact that chakra/magic doesn't really exist. But would our technology evolve in the same fashion if it did? If people were capable of spitting fire walls from their mouths, walking on water/walls, leaping from the branches in a forest? Teleportation? Even in the war arc, we see telepathic communication
Funny, I always thought it be interesting if Kishimoto replicated the Captain Perry incident on Konoha and the ninja world, but only because I wonder how Danzo would react to learning of more powerful forces outside the continent? @@sunshineskystar I don't think that Nukes and Aircraft Carriers would be even close to cutting it against a Legendary Shinobi. Madara could sweep away like half of a fleet with one swing of his Perfect Susanoo 💀
I always thought it would’ve made sense if when Kaguya fought Hagaromo most of the earth would’ve been destroyed with hagaromo using his powers to create a stable continent for his people to live on. World history in Naruto obviously revolves around this region so creating entirely new continents is kind of redundant and only serves to complicate the world more than it has to be. Kishimoto struggled enough at expanding on the five great nations so just imagine him trying to do multiple more, it just wouldn’t work. That way I’d say it would make sense for the “outer regions” to be a haven for nature energy as there’s no humans messing everything up by building cities. That allows massive creatures and summons to exist there in vast mostly unaltered landscapes with the occasional small isolated human civilizations and villages. This would explain where Mt. Myaboku and the other summonings live since they’re isolated from humans.
My guess is that the other continents are where the summons live. We don't see where places like Mount Myoboku on the map, so my guess is that all the summons live there.
10:50 - You'd have to check the original Japanese for that. It could be a translation error or just an oversight, and we know it isn't uncommon for that to happen in Naruto.
I remember as a kid I came up with an idea for Naruto and Avatar existing on the same planet but different hemispheres (east/west, not north/south, obviously). I realize it doesn’t hold up to _any_ level of scrutiny, but I thought it was a fun idea to explain why the Fire Nation didn’t attack the Earth Kingdom from the east: ninjas got in the way. Ozai: “Why can’t we go around the globe to attack Ba Sing Se from two sides?” Some admiral who scoped out the western ocean only to run into a Bijuu, and immediately head back: “Uh, world’s flat.”
I like the idea that just outside what we've seen of the established setting there are dozens of guys more powerful than the main cast, just that no one thinks to ask if they exists. It's like the last arc of Yu Yu Hakusho. it's initially framed that it was going to be this fight with the two remaining overpowered demon lords for control of the realm and the fate of the Earth in the balance, but Yusuke walks in and just declares they're going to settle everything with a battle tournament. Suddenly there are dozens of rando demons showing up that match Yusuke and the demon lords for power but prefer to... like, farm or whatever.
I always thought more continents existed in the Naruto world but they are inhabited by non-ninjas (since hagoromo probably didn't travel continents to spread ninshu throughout the world) And so these continents are unimportant for the plot (they could be useful if the ninja villages attack them but maintaining control of an army overseas without any radio type of thing would be near impossible so that's why they haven't done it *yet* Also because they were having too many internal wars beforehand and now that everything's peaceful they don't want to enter another state of war
Dygoknight should REALLY make a spotify because I really like listening to his videos Here is the whole essay why: So what is spotify? Spotify is a media app where you can post videos (preferably just audio) where users listen in the daily, noe another question, Why do we need to post on spotify if we already have youtube? There are two reasons, one is for viewer's having a better time, how? You may ask? Well we can say they are doing something else on our devices but we want it to be not as boring, so we boot up spotify and just play anything (in this case its just a video) then they can both be not bored and do whatever they need to do, now on to the second reason why spotify, you have an easier time to get more new viewers from someone scrolling through youtube and from someone just getting it pop up on their home tab (either in Spotify or UA-cam). Thank you all for reading No chat GPT's were touched in the making of this (short) essay
If there are other continents or even just lands outside the known map then it's possible the societies there are still caught in the feudal situation that the ninja world was pre villages. After all, the village system was the big revolution Hashirama and Madara started, and if you think about it that system is what allowed for the ninja to organize as they did and make their civilizational improvements-so much so that other clans started combining to form villages to compete. The fad caught on, seemingly out of necessity, because if the other villages didn't form then probably their clans would've gotten swallowed up by the Leaf. So maybe the ninja continent doesn't communicate much with societies outside because those societies are still in clan-on-clan warfare and so wouldn't be able to organize enough to present either enough of a threat or enough of a help to the villages.
Another locations and travel methods I found interesting is the location where the summoning animals live, like mount Myoboku and the way the travel there by summoning jutsu and reverse
I always assumed the rest of the world thought the ninja area was weird and just left them to their own devices while they made a modern world. Thats why you have dudes with plastic walkie talkies and no cars
its funny because feudal japan was also extremely disinterested in long distance exploration. when europeans got there from the other side of the globe they were like "the...other...side??"
I saw this other interesting video about the Naruto world, not sure if by someone else or maybe even you, probably someone else since you didn't mention it, but the video points out that modern cities actually do exist within the world of Naruto. They appear in the background like when Deidara uses his C0 explosion or there's some abandoned modern cities in some panels, etc. Basically, suggesting that even the continent in which the Naruto story takes place is more densely populated with regular people than we ever really see in the story, aside from the few stories that take place in such towns like the Tsunade search arc or when Itachi first showed up. Even the rain village is a bit interesting in that aspect, since it's not so much a ninja village.
I always thought that Naruto was based off of late 1800s to early and mid 1900s where there were tvs , radio and communication devices but not smart phones hence explains why they got slightly advanced technology
A technologically superior continent not bothering at all about ninja continent actually make sense since it is what happened to real life japan. They probably intentionally put the ninja continent on isolation as a buffer zone between powerful country.
This is why i like one piece. You can learn about other countries culture and history. Even for islands that arent involved in the story. The technology in that world is also all over the place but it doesnt feel like a plothole. I remember watching the exam arc as a kid and all of a sudden there was a tv in the room and remember thinking. What era is this set in ?
I think that the Earth of Naruto is a lot bigger than the real one and we are only seeing a small portion of a medium size continent that represents East Asia.
I'd love to see them explore the rest of the world in a future manga or anime that's considers canon, also tell how the rest of the world did during the events of the manga and such, maybe dealing with their own issues and alien gods, also love to see other alien species that fled from their world affected by the usual suspects, so yeah
A manga that manages well the expansion of its universe is fullmetal alchemist. MC's world is based on Europe/Germany and alchemy was used as weapons and military technology while the other continent is inspired by China and they were mostly using alchemy for medecine. Something similar instead of Boruto could have been so much more interesting but yeah sure aliens...😑
I also really liked the differences between Alchemy and Alkahestry, with how Alchemy has certain limitations that Alkahestry does not seem to have, though I would have liked if there were some established rules in which Alkahestry is "weaker" when compared to Alchemy.
I also assume those other continents if they people may not know how to use chakra. They may not even have chakra because Kaguya only landed on one contintent. Theyd only have the chakra all living beings possess that can be extracted from the devine tree
I think that every land is kind of inspired of a region of every continent in our world. Suna always felt like the Middle East to me cause their shinobis kind of reminds me of the Mubarizun, while idk why but Kumo always gave me the vibe of South Africa
I personally believe anything outside the current continent belongs to lands that houses summoning creatures. For example: mt Myoboku where frogs reside. How to get there? Long travel, reverse summoning or dimensional puddles that teleports.
VERY detailed answer: just from my opinion We know for a fact that there are islands in the world not connected to the continent. The Zabuza arc is literally about an island trying to connect itself to the continent with the bridge. The way I always thought of the naruto map is like Pangea. They're all continents just connected to each other. We know for a fact that it takes. If I'm remembering right, the land of iron was a 4 day run from the hidden leaf, the sand was 3 days and the sound was 3 days so it's safe to say it'd take a week to get to the hidden cloud. So it would take approximately 12 days to get from one end of the continent to the other. (Running from the hidden sand to the hidden cloud) and that's with people who are running at approximately 30-40 miles an hour. We never really see ninja take breaks other than few minute cool downs and to sleep so we can assume that they're running for around 14 hours a day when they're traveling which gives us a distance of approximately 6720 miles from one end of the continent to the other diagonally give or take, probably closer to 7000. In a real world perspective, that's the distance between New York USA to Tokyo Japan. Almost the length of the planet The total radius of the continent would be around 10+k miles including the islands and other land masses. Throw in the oceans and that pretty much accounts for the rest of the radius and makes up almost the radius of Earth itself. There definitely aren't more continents tho. I do not think the map is incomplete. I think the rest of the map that we dont see is just ocean
Technically he taught Ninshu but yeah. I wonder if they would have chakra natures and if they are the same five ninja have. I also wonder what they use instead of hand signs and formulas.

For the Naruto Shippuden sequel I totally would have loved to see the bad guys be an empire on a foreign continent coming to conquer the Shinobi world.
This is why I think the fillers and other non-canon content is important to explore any sort of Naruto world building, and existence of other continents. But even in canon, it's said in a novel (I think it was adapted in the Boruto anime) that Sasuke went to another continent. Also in canon, we see Eida's jutsu expanding outside of the world, at in that manga panel, there's at least 3 continents as seen. In The Last Naruto The Movie, we do see a view of their earth, but it's kinda hard to see the terrain, but many fans have tried to make sense of it and draw out the 5 great nations continent from a very obscure image.
So none of the ninjas thought to inform the rest of the world of this planetary threat? Imagine just being outside of their and seeing the moon turn red out of nowhere
Fun Thought Experiment: The World of Naruto is so much similair to world of Avatar that you could hypothetically connect the two and nothing would really change much, I mean in the world of Avatar Chakras exist as thing and have some connection to bending abilities so if there ever was a hypothetical crossover between the two worlds everything would kinda fall into place

I just feel like naruto world is like the one from the game Arcanum where ther is both special "magical" powers and technology and some people choose to go with one over the other.
In a world of constant war you'll have big advances in technology, but every nation wont share it with the other, so I think this is an explanation, and that's the reason after the great ninja war everything is more homogeneous. Also, when you have ninja magic, the technology won't develop the same way as our world
One thing we know is that Minato's marks didnt expire after his death - so the Hokages getting to the battlefield in such a short time was likely facilitated by Minato and flying raijin.
I think its a bit of a misconception that rome is so much warmer than new york. NY has more extreme cold in December and January but for the rest of the year the temperature is pretty much the same.
Maybe it was filler but in some chapter they are talking and they mention a "western continent" where people fight with heavy armor, swords and horses.
I think the great ninja wars only affects this Naruto's continent. Because the Infinite Tsukuoymi can only works with the full moon (i guess) and that's why it would partially affect the word, making the rest of the world not needing to worry about anything.
Kaguya did turned most humans into plant zombies and let go a small fraction of them. Gap between Kaguya defeat and Naruto storyline is just 1000 yrs as stated by kuramas age. So it's likely human population isn't large enough to inhabit rest of the planet and are simply concentrated on ninja continent where most of history have taken place. Similar to early medival age where only europe and asia with parts of africa were colonized by civilization whereas Americas was un touched
It makes more sens to have aliens then powerful humans from other continents that never did anything before, where were they if they existed, why they didn't show up before? And making aliens the source of chakra is the best explanation of the chakra existence
Just a silly idea but maybe the reason other continental countries haven't reached out to the ninja is maybe that they know what's going on and don't want to get dragged in
Imagine there are other people in other continents and they dont know they exist. And imagine they dont have chakra, but durying the 4th great ninja war they felt the impacts of the juubi bombs and all of the destruction. Maybe they wete even trapped under the infinite twukuyomi and they were like WTF is happening over that side of the world?
I would love to see at One piece Climax. Reveals that Shinobi Continent is actually in One piece Planet Hidden inside a big large Fogg. But so it wouldn't make sense. If we take the Infinite Tsukuyomi to the count. Which affected the entire planet.

Yeah I remember that. They had some utterly different power system. If I remember correctly that continent was absolutely destroyed by war.
The movies provide nice world building not for the story for making a Naruto dnd adventure
My head cannon is that there are other continents out there, but they are inhabited by normal humans that can’t control chakra, non ninjas. Hence why they weren’t called to help in the 4th World War, and why they weren’t involved in any ninja stuff.
This also answers the question of “Where are all the regular people in the naruto world?” Because at first glance it looks like there are only the ninja villages and no other cities.
chakra is supposed to be a universal energy that suffuses all life. why would *they* not learn how to harness it?
@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447 we know that there are non-ninjas even in the Leaf Village. Chakra may be in everyone, but not everyone has the ability to control it. So the rest of the world is populated by this group of people.
@@eddysw8549 i suppose that makes sense, but then why would the ninja continent people not conquer them?
@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447Are you familiar with how most empires fall in history? What do you think would happen if the leaf village used their resources to conquer a village thousands of miles away for little no military benefit? So many logisitical problems and risk, it makes 0 sense. Konoha would have 0 influence on a location like that even if they were able to conquer it in a reasonable manner just due to the insane distance. There is no vehicles or long distance train system in even boruto era mind you.
@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447 Looking it up, and I know the internet can be lying, humans didn't have chakra until Hamura and Hagoromo were born with it, and they spread it to other humans.
So it seems likely that there's only a small pool of humans on the planet that have it or know how to use it, especially if they want to keep it for themselves.
Always thought the ninja world was basically the size of Japan. 😅
I was also under the impression most of the non-shinobi everyday tech like TVs, cinemas, radios receivers and everything that looked like 20th/21st century technology was something from other continents or at least countries outside the shinobi world.

Outside Ninja continent they have tanks, jets and battleships and atomic bombs which can vaporize six path chakra Naruto easily. Feudal lords are protected because they negotiated with outside world to not interfere in Nippon sandbox.
That would still be a better storyline than the aliens
Kishimoto said no ninja could compete with a gun so you are probably right. The shinobi society are probably the equivalent of primitive natives isolated in one single area.

My headcanon he would fuming on HIruzen even more. I always found Danzo's extremes reaction interesting.
Imagine if he discovers other nations have nukes and aircraft carriers that can level the entire continent if they go out of their containment zone.
I like to believe the rest of the world outside of the 5 nations is looking for the one piece
I like you, had the same idea once, but not following One Piece I stopped making a cohesive headconon world
I See. You are a Man of Culture like me! ❤😂
Ozai: “Why can’t we go around the globe to attack Ba Sing Se from two sides?”
Some admiral who scoped out the western ocean only to run into a Bijuu, and immediately head back: “Uh, world’s flat.”

And so these continents are unimportant for the plot (they could be useful if the ninja villages attack them but maintaining control of an army overseas without any radio type of thing would be near impossible so that's why they haven't done it *yet*

Dygoknight should REALLY make a spotify because I really like listening to his videos
Here is the whole essay why:
So what is spotify?
Thank you all for reading
No chat GPT's were touched in the making of this (short) essay

You can travel there on foot but it takes a month and if you don’t know the secret route, you will never find it
Geography is everything!
I always thought that Naruto was based off of late 1800s to early and mid 1900s where there were tvs , radio and communication devices but not smart phones hence explains why they got slightly advanced technology
naahh i may not be the biggest naruto nerd but i distinctly remember there being railroads and trains, specifically in one of the movies at least
A technologically superior continent not bothering at all about ninja continent actually make sense since it is what happened to real life japan. They probably intentionally put the ninja continent on isolation as a buffer zone between powerful country.
The cut form Oppenheimer to a panel of an explosion at 10:04 is crazy.
In some movies of og Naruto foreigners invade the shinobi continent, and were surprised seeing how Shinobi fight

I personally believe anything outside the current continent belongs to lands that houses summoning creatures.
For example: mt Myoboku where frogs reside. How to get there? Long travel, reverse summoning or dimensional puddles that teleports.
VERY detailed answer: just from my opinion
We know for a fact that there are islands in the world not connected to the continent.
(Running from the hidden sand to the hidden cloud)
and that's with people who are running at approximately 30-40 miles an hour. Almost the length of the planet
The total radius of the continent would be around 10+k miles including the islands and other land masses. Throw in the oceans and that pretty much accounts for the rest of the radius and makes up almost the radius of Earth itself. There definitely aren't more continents tho. I do not think the map is incomplete. I think the rest of the map that we dont see is just ocean
Sage of Six Paths was the one who taught Ninjutsu. So the other continents dont have Ninjutsu at the very least.

Kishimoto never thought about any of these.
Interesting vid. And good point about how a sequel should involve other continents instead of... aliens
A Naruto sequel should have been about an up and coming continent now trying to compete with the continent in the original series. Something like they want to do ninjutsu completely differently/better(?) after seeing the wars in the original continent, and konoha trying to maintain relevance or correct the new continent's mistakes
