Hey, to each his own. I love this cover. If you want to analyse the versions, Yoav's cover is a rhythmic, slightly stoned version, with actual singing. The Pixies original is a wild, raw, off-tempo arrangement with caterwauling guitar, combined with "singing" that sounds like a drunken brawler who's just woken up and has no idea where his pants are.
I was at the FOX as well when he opened for Tori! I was just amazed by his performance.

Intriguing interpretation. Its kinda cool when someone can take a song by another artist and give it another perspective.
I saw him in Charlotte NC, he opened for Tori, he is really good. Tori handpicks all of her opening acts, not only talented, but Tori has excellent taste.

By itself, this version is an awesome song. But to me, the original is the best. There's no way around it. It has that certain degree of violence/desperation to it that just makes it unique.
I think this is a genuine cover and not just another singer trying to sing it like a popsong like all the other versions on youtube...

this song is great for psychoactionthrillers...heard it on fight club first, fell in love with it. Saw sucker punch and IMMEDIATELY loved it when i heard this :D
I like both versions of the song. The Pixies version is original and pure punk, and with punk...you get exactly what you hear.
This is very haunting, and leaves your mind to wander. Could you imagine Fight Club with this version instead? Maybe the buildings falling slower? Pure bliss in chaos.
I actually like what you did with this. I love the original and think that without any modification is one of the best songs I've ever heard, but this is definitely a very creative, very interesting cover. Good job. Keep it up!

it's for classical guitar picking, classical/flamenco/spanish/country guitarists tend to let their fingernails grow longer on their picking hand as they tend towards finger picking, the nail then acts like a plectrum, but with more control

So to me, the other version is the one with n altered mood.
At times, "Where is my mind?" is my favorite quote from a song.
Absolutely fantastic. Comparing different versions to eachother is pointless, only the feebleminded try that. Yoav is making a strong version, with his own trademark twist. Great job! This have been going on my at-work-playlist for quite some time now :)

How this song should be. If you notice the lyrics, it seems like a song that would be softer. It isn't meant to sound happy. This gives it that perfect feel.
I'd love to see him and Emily Browning to an acoustic version. That would be awesome!

@bende2xx It's original because he's put his own spin on it. A cover of a song doesn't have to be an exact replica. Music is expressing your own opinions, not copying someone else's work, note for note. If you think this cover is awful, then fair enough, but i enjoyed it, and commented in that vein.

This deserves at least 5*, I can't understand why people criticise your version of the song, of course it doesn't rock, but it is just perfect!

I actually think this is fantastic. Very original. I can also imagine it in the final sequence of Fight Club, as the explosives detonate and Edward Norton's character sees a panoramic of the city, with buildings collapsing. Has exactly the right feel, sound and mood. Excellent cover.

People are ridiculous. You can't honesty say he killed the song - Just 'cause you like a different version doesn't mean this one sucks hard. Although the one on his CD (released on a major label and selling worldwide - have any of you haters put out a cd?) is a lot better.

Nice cover, I prefer the original, but the Pixies are my all time favorite band, so in my opinion no cover will ever be superior. But I liked this one all the same.
