America has deployed its troops in Thailand for Cobra Gold 2024 and in South Korea for Freedom Shield 2024. This time, the US has sent its largest contingent for both the military exercises. Biden’s administration says it is preparing for a conflict with China in the South China Sea while also preparing for North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un’s nuclear threats. Asian allies including Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia are also taking part with American forces in the multiple drills in a massive show of strength.

This is especially true when you take into consideration that the US military has had an exceptional record when it comes to conventional "official army vs official army" fighting in the last century. In WWII the US suffered significant losses in the first 6 months or so, but after that got victory after victory almost continously and overcame the superior training and experience of the German and Japanese militaries in just a few years. Following this, the US did the bulk of the UN's work liberating South Korea (again, in a matter of months) and only ended the war in a stalemate to prevent nuclear war with the USSR. While I'd generally count Vietnam as a loss, that was largely due to guerilla warfare, the lack of stability in South Vietnam, and public opinion becoming staunchly opposed to the conflict. The US basically won every major engagement or battle that they had with the with the NVA, and saved South Vietnam during the fierce 1968 Tet Offensive. Also, South Vietnam didn't fall until 1975, about two years after the war had effectively ended for the US. Long story short, the US was far from defeated by the actual North Vietnamese military. In the 1991 Gulf War, the US liberated Kuwait in a very short time compared to its other wars. And in Iraq and Afghanistan in the 2000s, we toppled the hostile regimes we were fighting very quickly. The US military didn't necessarily get defeated in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan; the US government just failed to establish western democracy in nations that weren't ready for it. All this to say, in a conventional war, it's reasonable to assume that the US would give China a good fight. And totally crush North Korea in a 1v1 war.

If you look at the map, it's US and Allies surrounding their enemies not the other way around. China is surrounded by Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and maybe India too, each of those countries alone can give China a rough time. Same goes for Russia, NATO has pretty much surrounded Russia which is among Putin's main security concerns even before the Russia-Ukraine war.

Not really, United States is still the most powerful nation in the world not only in terms of military but even in pop culture, global trade and industries. US is still the world’s largest economy. Most of the worlds largest companies are based in US. Not to mention that US spends about $800 billion annually in defense and military. US also has enough nuclear arsenal to end this planet.
Let’s also not forget that United States is more powerful now than it did in 1940s. Back then, US didn’t even intend to join the war; they were just forced because of the attact in Pearl Harbor by Japanese forces in December 1941. Four years later in 1945, Nagasaki and Hiroshima was obliterated by the first and the only use of a nuclear weapon in an armed conflict. That should teach a lesson to anyone who tries to repeat history. Because history tends to repeat itself.
