Hello. If an American citizen buys something from a UK shopify based site and has the product shipped to them, 1 How does the seller find out the buyers Tax identifier number for customs and 2 if tax has to be paid who and where is it paid, does the seller tax the buyer or does the buyer pay tax upon receipt of the goods?
It's easier to open a LLC and get an EIN number to sell at United States, due to the gateways and currency conversions (LLC+EIN will avoid the conversions). The issue is the cost of LLC (about $250 or less)
Setting up Shopify from another country is entirely possible without necessarily forming a U.S.-based LLC or obtaining an EIN, but having these can be beneficial depending on your goals and location. Here's a detailed breakdown: Setting Up Shopify Without a U.S. LLC or EIN: You can create a Shopify store using your local address, business name (or as an individual if you're not a registered business), and a valid bank account in your country to receive payments. Shopify Payments is available in many countries. If it's not supported in your country, you can use alternative payment gateways like PayPal, Stripe (if available in your region), or third-party processors. When Should You Consider a U.S. LLC and EIN? If your primary market is the United States and you want easier access to U.S. payment processors or reduce the impact of currency conversion fees. A U.S. LLC makes it easier to set up U.S.-based bank accounts and payment gateways like Stripe or PayPal. An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is required if you set up a U.S. LLC for tax purposes and to open U.S. business bank accounts. Currency Conversion and Cost Considerations: Currency conversion issues are not entirely avoided by setting up a U.S. LLC. However, it can simplify receiving payments in USD and converting them to your local currency strategically when rates are favorable. The cost of forming an LLC varies by state. Some states have formation fees as low as $50 (e.g., Kentucky), but others can exceed $250 when including annual maintenance fees and additional compliance costs. What to Consider Before Forming an LLC: Assess whether the cost of forming and maintaining an LLC is justified by the benefits for your business. Check tax obligations in both the U.S. and your home country to avoid double taxation. Consult with a tax advisor or legal professional for compliance in your country and the U.S. If your goal is to target the U.S. market and streamline payment processes, forming a U.S. LLC could be worth the investment. However, always weigh the costs and legal implications against the benefits for your specific business model.
Hey urgent help needed, my dropshipping business is situated in the UK, and my payment method, Shopify payments, is also based in the UK, therefore I've been wondering whether I can move to the US market with that???/
You need to check with your supplier first to see if they can drop ship for you in the USA, check the Time to deliver from the supplier to your customers, and make sure that this is a feasible situation for you. You Should also talk to Shopify as well as check into which payment methods are available for you to use on your site in the USA if you are adding or moving it there.
If you are selling in the U.S. then it also depends for your local currency if your using a 3rd party such as Payoneer etc. so they collect your money for you then you can choose when to send it to your account in Canada to take advantage of the best conversion rates! amazing.com/
Either send it to your 3rd party warehouse if you have one, or someone you know in the US or you can let the customer keep the product which solves any return fees at that point!
I used my address in Philippines, but the US currency won’t show in US customers. I can’t also change the currency manually. It is only applicable to shopify payments which is not available to Philippines as well. 😔

@@Amazingdotcomin small countries we only have a couple of payment providers and they all need at least 10k$ going around monthly which I can't guarantee as a beginner. So I too wanted to know if I could set up my store in the US so that I could use Shopify payments 😢

Hi, I’m an Asian and I want to sell in the US, can I just use Paypal? Do I need to register LLC or LCT for payment? Since I don’t have a US tax ID, can I skip Amazon Pay? If I only use Paypal, will it affect the payment of my customers and my store? Thanks!!
You will want to talk to your Accountant or legal council there to make sure you register your business for what is best for you. Your Payment method(s) of course are your choice having additional options will make it easier for your customers to buy and pay for products, having less will reduce those options.
I thought that nothing would work out, but you quickly helped me find a solution, thank you!

Shopify website is easy but payment gateway so hard
Shopify has many different payment gateways you can use as well as doing payment plans! Definitely check them out for more details!

@@Amazingdotcomin small countries we only have a couple of payment providers and they all need at least 10k$ going around monthly which I can't guarantee as a beginner. So I too wanted to know if I could set up my store in the US so that I could use Shopify payments 😢
Definitely look at the payment providers mentioned above as well as checking into a 3rd party such as Payoneer an other companies like them which will handle your funds for you in the U.S. and you can control where and when you want that money from your account there released to you!
Hi i am from Pakistan and i want to run a USA Shopify account (some of my relatives are living in USA and are ready to give me the Shopify account)if you can help me i will be very thankful to you for this kindness of big act
Definitely look at Shopify's information directly on their site for selling internationally! www.shopify.com/blog/international-ecommerce
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Can we use the shopifypayment
You can contact Shopify directly here, they will be able to detail out the most up to date options for you
