I really love how in the beginning of this animation, when the man goes on the bus after being released from prison, everyone was giving him a dirty look and wanted to avoid him. But as time passes on the bus, everybody started to have sympathy for him which resulted in a big celebration from everyone at he end when they noticed the yellow ribbon. Very touching.
I wrote this song with the late amazing Irwin Levine in 1973 The first time Tony Orlando ever heard it- was when I played it for him on my guitar one morning. God Bless him for his genius!! L.Russell Brown
This song was released 1970, i was born in 1998, and im still obsessed in the yesr of 2018. This kind of classic songs will make your flesh moved. Loved it 💕
The story came from and old tale about a Union soldier returning from P O W camp in the south after the civil war.. I know this because I personally came up with the idea to write it and my partner Irwin Levine loved the idea and we wrote in in less than 20 minutes...

I don't really know why but this song reminds me of my best friend who died in January and it always makes me cry. Thank you, you did an amazing job. Congrats!
This song has made me cry every single time without fail for decades. It provokes a deeply moving feeling. I hope to find a love as immense as this one day.
Saigon in 1973, the Paris Accord took effect and enabled the Americans to go home. You could hear this song over and over 24/7 on Saigon's only FM radio station. The tune of this song and the rumble of the GM trucks that carried those GI's to Tan Son Nhat Airport is still vivid in my mind till this day.
I think it is about a soldier returning to home town. (Young men were drafted during 1940 and 1973 in USA .) He was in the prison of his lover, and she had the key to release him.
prisoners are people too who also wanna be loved just like everyone else. the guy must be so worried and heartbroken wondering if his girl or spouse will still accept him. the people are cheering for him! not just one yellow ribbon! woot woot! good ending for such a cute beautiful love story! 💘💘💘💘💘💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Used to love this song about 5 years ago when I was younger, I remember this brought me to tears. 5 years later and it still does and you're damn right I love this song🥲♥

I really love old country music! It relax me from stress. I think i was born in a wrong era. I have a feeling of urge to go back in time and enjoy without technology.

The song is about a prisoner of war. Totally not a criminal in prison like in this video. Without considering the prisoner of war. This video is good :)
What makes you say that it is about a POW? I wouldn't think a POW would say they've "done their time" or would put the blame on themselves if their lover didn't stay true to them.
I mean within the context of the time the song was written, probably. The story actually references Union Soldiers coming back from the war after being captured. Many couldn't make contact with their wives and loved ones, so many wives assumed their husbands dead. The yellow ribbon was worn by women who had loved ones in the Union Cavalry to show solidarity. So the original story had nothing to do with Vietnam vets OR regular prisoners. But songs are interpretive, so view it how you'd like :)
The clasic balad of the prisoner why return to home three years after of the detention and the writting to the girlfriend " tie a yellow ribbon of the old tree", one the best sing of the 70´s, the time before of the internet 🤗

I'm comin' home, I've done my time
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine
If you receive my letter telling you I'd soon be free
Then you'll know just what to do
if you still want me, if you still want me
Woh, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years, do you still want me
If I don't see a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus, forget about us,
put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
Bus driver, please look for me
'Cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see
I'm really still in prison and my love, he holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free
I wrote and told him, please
Woh, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years, do you still want me
If I don't see a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus, forget about us,

Perfect job. Thats just how i imagined that song
If he is a POW, why does he say 'I've got to know what is and isn't mine" ?? Surely this suggests that he was a thief or burglar?
