    Thank you Kevin. I called HP and they couldn't help me. They said your out of luck and buy a new printer since it was out of warranty. I did everything you said step by step and I also throughly cleaned the suction cups and print cartridge and worked like a charm. Thank you very much Kevin.

    Sir, you just saved me $250. I followed the instructions in this video (and the cover removal video) and fixed my not-even-two-year-old HP OfficeJet Pro 9025. HP's solution to this error message is, if the machine is out of warranty, essentially "Sorry, looks like you'll need to buy a new printer." I am so happy that I don't have to buy a new printer now, thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos!

      I have the exact same issue with my not-even-two-year-old 9025. They also told me since my printer is out of warranty there is nothing they can do, but recommended I buy a new printer. If paying monthly for ink and requiring color ink to print in black wasn't enough, this is. Never buying anything HP again.

    • @BrolfCats
      @BrolfCats 3 роки тому +1

      @@chrisk3988 I think most printer companies are awful. I stopped buying HP years ago and switched to Canon, and after three Canon inkjet printers died at 1 to 2 years each with the same unfixable, unspecified error code, I said never again for Canon, and decided to give HP another try. I think the only printers that don't break down constantly are Brother laser printers (most of my clients use them, but the toner is a huge expense).

      Don't know WHAT you were working on but it wasn't a 9025. I just took my 9025 apart and this video is absolutely nothing like it and, while the video may be helpful for what it applies to it is NOT helpful for a 9025.

    • @BrolfCats
      @BrolfCats 3 роки тому

      @@Safetymel Well, I own a 9025, and it was broken, and now it's fixed because I watched the video, so, for me, it was very helpful for fixing a 9025. I don't know if the video was actually showing a 9025, it may not have been, but it is a fairly similar model. I bought tools like the ones he talked about, watched this video and the other video he linked to about how to remove the outer cover and then remove the top part where the ink cartridges sit, and then push the underlying thingee back where it needed to be, and somehow managed to repair the 9025 printer I have. So, it can be done - I did it. The most difficult part was that the outer main cover of the printer does not raise up as high as the one in the video did, so I had to prop it up with something and kind of force it to stay high enough to get my hand in there to work with the other parts.

    Just got a 8010e and after the first run I got this problem. I managed to fix this not even opening the head cover. With a screwdriver, just move the lever to the left and gently return the carriage of the waste tank sucker using the wheel he mentioned in the video. This worked for me. Thanks for the knowledge sharing!

    You saved me the price of a new printer as well. My HP Officejet Pro 9018 ink carriage freed up and is working fine now. One issue came up - once I had turned the left-side gear sufficiently for the sucker head to clear the ink carriage and move back to its non-cap position, I centered the ink carriage and replaced the cartridge (yellow) that started this whole mess. Then I reassembled the cover back on, fired up the printer, and it printed fine, recognized the new ink cartridges, etc. The only problem: while the carriage was centered, it apparently dribbled blue and yellow ink onto two of the center paper rollers right below it. That caused a green smear on every page that even two or three "clean smear" operations didn't resolve. I finally had to clean the two inked rollers manually with Q-tips and water - there was quite a bit of ink on them. When I had them cleaned off, one more "clean smear" operation cleared up that problem, and the printer is working great now. Thanks! Perhaps someday, someone at HP support will forward a copy of your repair video to their engineering dept, support techs, and authorized service centers. Then they could provide better customer service than, "buy a new printer".

    I have an HP office jet pro 6960 same as yours. Experiencing the same carriage message. How ever the fix was super glue! Yes after "ripping" the top off the machine for a better view inside, i spotted the problem . A little white gog wheel at 1:10 in the video had split and wasnt rotating. In fact it had fallen off to the side. As i said super glue was the fix after putting the wheel back on the shaft and plenty of glue all around it and left it over night to fully harden . Printer now works again .At least others might learn from me and check for loose -missing or split gog wheels.

      On the left side there's a gear with a plastic called disk encoder, i dont remember which one i put on top either 1 or 2. If it's going clockwise put 12 before the sensor. The disk encoder should be read by the sensor. And on the right side of printer i made sure to have the cartridge thingy on the ink sucker thingy. I had to replace the 4 ink cartridge sensor pins and the pin contact board for the ink cartridges (They were worn and it would not recognise the cartridges), which was at the bottom of the carriage. I ended up with a phantom carriage jam after I put it all back together. The carrriage would move left and right but it kept saying it was jammed. My eventual solution was to push the carriage all the way to the right and move the gear so that the suction cup was pushed up and fully contacting the printheads. Then I did a factory reset on the printer.
    I think it was just out of sync and couldn't figure itself out.
    It was quite a fiddly job and I had to be very careful reinstalling the carriage because it jammed several times trying to put it all back together and would not move easily or would not move along the bar at all.

    • @2ManyAccts
      @2ManyAccts 2 місяці тому

      I tried the suggestion of factory reset on the printer, but it still gets jammed on the suction cup on the printheads while it is trying to print the alignment page. It is obviously out of sync. I already fixed the broken gear but it is confused. I checked that I have the latest firmware and I do. I tried with the suction cup all the way tucked away but it still resets itself with the suction cups engaged while it tries to print. Any other ideas?

      @@2ManyAccts Did you try the low level reset? HP don't tell you about this about this one but to get to it, you need to tap the home icon 3 (or I think) 4 times to access it.
      Also check that cellophane ribbon is correctly installed, cleaned and runs through the print head.

    Help! My printer won’t stop jamming! I push the carriage to the right and I can turn the large gears without manipulating that little lever. So I can turn the gears and move the sucker thing back, but then when I press the “ok” on the screen, the carriage quickly slides to the left then slams back to the right side and the suckers comes back underneath and stays there, holding up the carriage. What do I do?!

      Same here. Did you fix your problem? Read people talking about the encoder strip but mine is not damaged. It seems to me a timing issue but can't find the fix.

      Update: I replaced the printhead and the carriage is not sticking anymore. I guess, the problem is about the optical sensor (I guess?) is defected on the printhead and not transmitting the necessary information to the printer.

    Hi, we are also encountering what happened in your video. Our printer is having a carriage jam issue. We've checked if there are any paper jams or obstruction but their are none. Hence the ink cartridge is stuck at the right and does not more even if there is no paper jam and obstruction inside the printer. Our printer is Hp officejet 6960.

      My HP Photosmart D5360 today says, "The cartridge cradle can not freely move.". Anyhow, I took a piece of plastic and dropped that into the visible slot that you can see when the top door is open. This fools it into thinking that the door is closed. That way I can see what is going on. Well once powering up, the cartridge cradle moves back and forth multiple times, and then finally sits at rest on the right hand side. So it can clearly move freely. So I next cleaned the transparent strip that passes though the cradle. This strip is used to indicate via an LED and sensor, where the cradle is located. It was filthy. But that did not fix the problem. I hate these kinds of nightmare problems.

    I have similar HP printer and if you will encounter some strange error of carriage cannot move or error with paper jam it may be waste ink tank pump that has failed internally. It uses peristaltic and internal tube seems to poorly connected to outer connection and therefore it doesn’t pull ink. But it is funny that error has nothing to do with paper jam other than using same motor for movement

    When I do this the printer works fine for a couple of passes. But then it says that it is doing maintenance, goes to the right, picks up the middle part and then jams again no matter how many times I go and adjust it

      Sounds like a timing belt issue. Make sure the clear plastic belt is clean and see if that fixes the issue.
