Dude, it really did. It was a great group at my last job but it's super exciting to strike out on my own and I have loved every day of the new chapter.
@@fowlerillus Well im happy for you!! You’ve obviously put in a ton of work and passion into this and it really shows, in the thoroughness and professionalism of DPS.you have a lot to be proud of sir!
I disagree with your statement and thoughts completely. I first saw your artworks long long time ago, The beautiful story telling, the colors and all your amazing concepts just blew me away that there could be a artists this amazing, My favorite painting is still the person chained to the boulder and that robot sitting in the grassy field and as nature slowly eats away its empty shell. I find all your works to be amazing and your one artist who works tell amazing stories not to mention I have seen so many younger artists praising you for helping them grow so quickly. and sharing your wonderful knowledge. your cloths and capes have always intrigued me also your metal rendering. Every artwork of yours has a amazing story to tell. you are too Humble to admit your also a master, and we are so luck you are willing to share your knowledge with us. Have a wonderful day.
Such a nice note - thank you so much. I remember those paintings well! Grassy robot is fairly recent but the guy dragging the giant ball and chain is from waaaay back. I must have been bummed out on that day :)
Glad to see you back on the scene, I have gone through all of your tutorials over the years and i always recommend your tutorials when anyone asks how they can improve their art.
Hardy, you are seriously the best art teacher I have come across , I've seen all of your videos on Skill share about 5 times each, mainly just to get the hang of things because I'm still a newbie and also because the way you explain things , you make it so easy. You have a real motivational sound to your voice, your tricks and techniques, make things so simple to understand and you take the time to explain everything and the stories you tell are just as epic as your art. Please keep posting and making these amazing educational videos, I certainly appreciate them because I can see my improvements, your lessons are extremely valuable to me and I'm sure to many others as well. I'm a fan and I just had to personally thank you!
I've been waiting for this video since I first saw the image on Artstation. I've been taking Hardy's classes for years, marveling at the sophistication and complexity of his technique. It's very interesting to see this much looser style from him and astonishing the way it ends up just as polished looking as his more rendered pieces. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to the next one.
@@fowlerillus Your tutorials have been helping me since nearly day one of my art journey. Thank you for taking care to put so much detail into them. I find myself going back to them regularly.
Ahah surprisingly every since I started painting last year I've been struggling to get better at brush economy and simplify my shapes, but I feel that without over complicating it first I have difficulties understanding volumes. Basically what I usually do is over rendering it and then simplify it, which is a waste of time, however it gives me better results than just trying it simple from the start. For now! I've joined the Academy and I'm super excited! Love all your courses!
Fantastic! And I love your goal of ‘looseness’. I feel like that’s a far more appropriate, and achievable, goal than photorealism anyway. I feel like the looseness really helps an artist define and communicate their style as well. Something I hope very much to be able to define for myself in the near future. Thanks again Hardy!
Hardy, I had no idea you have a UA-cam channel until today! I don't know how I missed it! I think I'm beginning to grasp this idea of balance between loosines and refined render you are talking about in this video (ah, and painting within created silhouette is the most fun thing!) but not much progress in that aspect in my own paintings. I spent usually about 12 hours for full figure portrat painting (large size for print, 300 dpi and requirements for details). Trying to figure out if such pieces can be done faster. Very cool speeder design!
Welcome to the channel Tatiana! I'm glad this was helpful - this really was a lightbulb moment for me and I thought it might be for others as well. I have found that this looser approach really helps my speed too so I would definitely experiment with this. I would love to see what an artist of your skill level could do!
@@fowlerillus I'll try to incorporate this into my workflow, because I have this common mistake of overrendering and overdoing stuff, which doesn't looks that good and also are very time consuming~
I'm guilty with over rendering and painting every detail in my paintings. I feel like I'm cutting corners or being lazy if I don't give anything detail
Oh thank God u back ❤️
I'm back! Tons of new stuff in the works :)
Much love and support
Thanks! That's very much appreicated
Been loving Concept Art Academy so far! I'm only 25% in and I already feel like it's changed the game for me
You are doing incredibly well! I'm so glad to hear it. See you in class on Thursday!
Agree 100% with the brushwork sorcery lol. Did it feel pretty good to you quit your old job and take that plunge?

Thanks Nicolas! It has been amazing so far. The world seems to be very full of cool, talented artists.
The fact that you pronounced Cedric’s last name is an accomplishment in my book. 😂😂
Absolutely nailed it. Cedric, please forgive me

I know exactly what you mean. It feels like you're cheating or being lazy and it's a hard instinct to fight.
