Hi Richard. I have a built 383 stroker sbc. Summit 383 block. Forged rotating assembly from skip white performance. 10.3:1 compression. Luntati voodoo flat tappet cam, 233/241 .504/.525 110 lsa. Edelbrock e-210 heads with flat tappet springs and 1.5 rockers. Ebay air gap clone dual plane intake. Msd hei vacuum advance distributor. Fitech go efi 600hp throttle body efi. The timing is set to 34 at 3500 rpm. Not controlled by the efi. The engine has really good low-end power/torque. However, after about 4700 rpm, the motor stops pulling and falls flat on its face. At the strip, it will literally throw you back in the seat on the launch, but once it hits 3rd gear, it literally just falls off and feels like you are just coasting. This engine is in an 85 corvette and only runs mid 9s in the 1/8th. I run a full second faster in my bone stock 09 corvette. Any suggestions on what i should be looking at with the 383?

Sounds like you might look into timing advance from what you described it sounds like that could be your issue, hope this helps

The runner length on a Stealth Ram was pretty good, however I would argue the runner CSA is way under sized for a modern large CC SBC cylinder head feeding big cubes at significant RPM. That's the biggest thing Holley needs to fix in my mind anyways. Doing the math on it the runner CSA is really sized for 350 CID from what I remember but it's been a day. Size it for at least a 383 and a 400+ CI engine would likely be better, or at least the ability to port it out that far.

I'm 100% still actively messing with small blocks so thanks Holley.

I wish they used a high ram lid so you could use a Shearer fab type intercooler.

Check tick performance, I think they make an intercooler that fits

You should revisit the tsp chopacobra cam and see why it can do under boost sense it’s it’s basically the truck Norris cam and nobody pays it any mind it’s definitely an underrated cam

IT DOES EXACTLY THE SAME THING UNDER BOOST AS ALMOST ANY OTHER CAM-BOOST MULTIPLIES WHAT IS THERE (JUST LIKE THE TN)

I have two questions I'd love to know the answers to. 1 why is it that it seems SBF cams seem to have pretty high lift even with mild cams, a 230° SBC cam typically has less than . 500" lift often around .480" but a comparable SBF 230° cam often has around .550" lift? Like your 274 cam has like .555 or something, a comp magnum 292 for SBC has .500" and it's fairly healthy street cam, What gives? The other is how do some LS engines get away with no valve reliefs whatsoever in the pistons ? I'm not an LS guy (well not yet anyway eventually I'll have to give in and accept my fate) but That baffles me even the worst performing era of the SBC has reliefs in the pistons. These 2 questions answered I can pass on in peace when I do.

We know the stealth Ram manifolds was designet way back when and for 327 - 355 CID engines with OEM smal port heads.
The runners are way to small for the engines people are building in our day and age.
Have a look at the work of Andy Wood and David Vizard.
