I loved this show as a teenager, as someone of American Indian descent it was awesome having someone we could look up too! Kids today could use a children’s show like this, one that teaches life lessons and how everything isn’t rainbows and sunshine!
All respect to a children's show that didn't handle such an important subject in a condescending way. This was a powerful episode back then, and it's just as relevant today.
It goes to show you that it is dangerous and it is stupid for anybody to do drugs in it ain't cool to do drugs it's done just because somebody tells you that it's okay to do drugs it's not there's a reason why the creators of the show made this show special about drugs to let young kids know that drugs is not okay it's dangerous and they can kill you young kids me think about before they do stuff for anything about their what they put their families through
Yup and remember the same thing on Captain Planet? i was 9 when i saw that anti-drug episode of Captain Planet when Linka and her cousin were taking drugs from Verminious Scumm and i remembered i felt sad when Boris too died of an overdose like Jay as it really hurt me like it did with Bravestarr.
Jem and the Holograms had a drug episode. I liked how the dealer wasn't a stereotypical adult guy in a trench coat. Instead it was a kid who went to the school, it felt more realistic
Oh yeah... it's a real good example not just of the dangers of drug addiction, but also showing a Pyrrhic victory when it came to how Dealer was stopped... but there was a big price to pay.
All these years later and the ending to this episode still packs a huge punch. I give a lot of respect to the creators of this show for having the guts in the 80's to do an episode like this with that kind of ending.
Like in a cartoon in a tablet and I want to see what I kid is scratching his skin you know that tells me that signs he has the shakes any breaks out in a cold sweat when your heroin addict you don't want to stop you want more I'm just saying this because I lost a lot of my friends to drug overdoses I just hope I just pray that that people have the courage just to say no when you are approached by these individuals who are selling you this poison people like that don't deserve to walk the streets at this garbage is killing children
Yup it taught me when i was 5 when i saw this episode even COPS had an antidrug episode and Captain Planet's drug episode hit me hard when i was 9 when Linka's cousin died of an overdose
The dingos reminds me of the coyotes in cowboys of moo Mesa and vice versa. I so felt for that kid. Losing his friend the way he did. My mom had to find my grandpa in a similar position. He'd had an aneurysm that broke in his brain that left him on the floor in the dining room that later killed him in the hospital
@@EndlessDream he also insulted his own friends when they tried to help him, acting like he knows better than them, and even stole from his own mother just to get his fix on.
I wonder how many people noticed the animation mistake there as there were 3 Coyotes and the leader in the leather jacket disappeared right when Bravestarr used 'The Strength of the Bear' to destroy the Spin factory.
This wasn't the only one that had an anti drug episode. Cops the cartoon had an episode that dealt with drugs as well and all the cops were pretty busy dealing with all the addicts coming through and big boss didn't wanna even touch or deal with helping to distribute the drug of the episode
The "kids dont do drugs" thing I guess is very american... I never watched a cartoon with "dont do drugs" and I never have though of doing so or crossing a drug addict...
This episode reminds me of how my great-uncle, the closest thing I had to fatherly love growing up died: the cigarette got him🐺😭🐺😞. Between him, and my father, my great uncle was the one that loved me most by being around🐺🙏🏻🐺☝️. But we could've had more time if it hadn't been for drugs🐺☝️🐺😡. Thanks to that cursed crud, my family, and my life fell apart🐺😞🐺😢. Now my family is even more distant, and I feel more alone than ever🐺😞🐺😢🐺😭🐺.
What accent is that supposed to be? (Dealer I mean). He's a dingo right? So maybe Australian but sounds more like a bad impression of a Brit by an American.
why i think it's not what he died of. There's an article to find if you look his name up on google images about some with his name having died in 1986(the year before this show started) saying his parents outlived him.

Cartoons like this should be in every classroom across america.. This is what happenes to you when you do drugs..😢
Agreed.
Not just America, others countries should too.
The shaman at 19:06 was the most important scene
The last speech with bravestarr was really potent
Same here The Shaman shedding a tear showed so much depth and compassion. After 37 years it hits home😔😢
@@evieraotacon Yeah. You can just feel his hurt, just like how we had his concern in the beginning, as well as his talking to Brad.

80's shows should be shown in every classroom because it may change lives. Especially ones like this
Which is more important...a promise ..or a friend

Such a dark, tragic, and heartbreaking episode. One that leaves a long lasting impact.

This episode is HEAVY! It's relevant in the 1980's and still is Today.

This message is just as revelant today as it was back then, maybe moreso.
Those old cartoons teached us lessons for life. I miss this today.
Me too.
Man! I miss watching Bravestarr! Good ol’ 80’s cartoons!
The ending got me 😢 it hit me right here
one of the few shows that did a anti-drugs VSE correctly.
Now this how you don't completely suger coat the message and the ending is just powerful...18:08 19:02

the writer of this episode did it so that kids who see this will know to don't take drugs from drug dealers in real life.

Amen to that, Amen to that.
But since I'm on medication prescribed by a doctor that is a different story.
Well it's a person is taking medication prescribed by doctor that is not taking illegal drugs.

I wish that anyone who says drugs are fun could watch this cartoon and learn something from it.
Is it strange I don’t feel bad for Jay? I feel more bad for Brad, Daisy, and Jay’s mother if anything. They were all hit hard by the loss.
I don't feel bad for Jay either.

I remember that episode!
That was mean of Jay to keep calling his friend chicken just because he didn't want to do something.
If the guilt Brad has is strong, I can’t imagine how bad Daisy’s is. I mean, she essentially gave Jay the money for his early grave.
She didn't know he wanted it for drugs. If she did, I'm sure she wouldn't have given him anything.
I know she didn’t. I’m saying that after hearing what happened, she’s going to need a lot of therapy.
@@nickbritt1145 That's being harsh. If Jay had lived HE'S the one who would have needed therapy.

Now if they show rat boy ending in prison like OZ and a shower scene Pancho viva BUBBA. No kid in the planet would do drugs.
