Just bought mine 3 days ago,and on Serto time remain or the chance to changethe time on the display arent avaiable!On the other hand on Virtual dj we can change that jus pressing SHIFT and CUE.On both softwares the pitch arrows (telling you if you need to increase or decrease pitch and speed) on Serato dont even appear on Virtual dj they just blink randomly.
In Traktor,the mapping I got and for what I´ve found on the web,the displays wont work.
Honestly Im loving it!Knobs and faders are pretty solid,jog dials are just amazing and probably the most accurate comparesing with any other controller of this price and even some more expensive ones.
Good video! I have and love the DDJ 400, it does everything I need. I do like that Numark stepped up with these great looking controllers. It seems like you can't go wrong either way. Beginner or entry level controllers have come a long way and it seem they're not so "beginner" anymore.

@@JamesSarno why choose the 400? they're basically the same but the numark platinum has much bigger pitch faders.
@@smidgens1 Those pitch faders on the Numark are nice! I've had the 400 since November, those Numarks weren't available when I purchased my 400. To me it comes down to which ecosystem (Serato or Rekordbox) you want to belong to. Like I mentioned earlier, you can't go wrong either controller.
I have a Numark Party Mix and am looking to upgrade, was going to go for the Sb3 but am now swayed to the platinum fx. Fantastic video, unbiased comparison and very informative, thank you.

I exactly in your position and i am between the ddj 400 and numark. I think that the pads on the ddj 400 are a big plus but the 4 decks on the numark are good as well

Good vid. The Numarks are a clear winner (dedicated FX, paddles and better jogs). I go with the Pro FX (and save $50 for needless/unusable 2 extra decks and central display). Quick Qn: two reviewers have said the Numarks have good jogs with premium feel, actually they said these two, at their price points, dont deserve this quality of jogs. What is your experience?
The jogs feel very sturdy and of top quality, especially compared to the old Mixtrack series!
The 2 extra decks may not be worth spending $50, but those displays are. Useful info and it makes the overall controller look premium.
Another thing to note: The NuMark MixTrack Platinum FX Mic input is internally routed to the master output. So, if you connect it to the computer it won't recognize as a separate mic in. This may work on live sessions on partys but not on streaming unfortunately.

There is something like 30 days that I watch videos to try to find the best controller for my use. (to replace my hercule universal dj; uhhhh) I was hesitate between the NS6II which I think was too expensive for my use, the now old mixtrack platinum which I had to buy in second hand but which I think was too old and the jog was too small, and the DDJ 400 which have a too little pitch fader to me... and I just now discover this new Numark Platinum FX which is exactly what I need ! big and nice jogwheel with screen, long pitch fader, nice filter part, nice sampler part and the 3, 4 decks possibilities...it worth the wait...I will use it to mix pure techno, house, and rap and r&b...

I play in a small pub, even with my older platinum, is well up to the job, so the new FX, is a real step up in quality and features...

Own the smaller 4 channel Numark and love it, but thinking on buying the FX as those jogs are great and deck displays are a must...! not sure about the FX side of things though, but do like the paddles...so it's another Numark for me...
I have both sb3 and 400 and i think d best dj controller for beginners is the hercueles impluse 500 but the sb3 and 400 is mad responsive and really good for scratching and djing for parties!

all depends on what you want and your preference, I have cdjs at home but I just got the 400s for on the go ect, and they blow me away with having that Nexus feel without the huge pioneers.
still getting used to the smaller dimension but overall sister like. Check out James Hype if u want to see someone who is fluent on cdjs use the 400 so you get a physical idea of how it is, no matter what controller you use, whether its a unmark or you have full cdjs....it all comes down to comfortability and skill, I've seen shitty dis on cdjs and really good full set djs work a Traktor S4 like PorterRob, so its all up to YOU

Really nice review. I own the platinum fx pro and I'm really happy with my choice. My previous controller was the Roland dj 202 which I don't recommend to anyone. The only thing that I can't get used to it is that you can't open and close crates and subcrates of serato dj pro through the browser section of the controller so you got to touch the computer to go through your crates! If they add an option at the midi customization of serato dj it would be great. Anyway apart from this I have no other negative comments on this controller.
Have to stick with the Newmark as having the MT Pro 3 now for two three years, time to upgrade a little to the FX Plus love my Serato to much lol

2 Things i don’t like in Mixtrack pro FX and Platinum FX.
1. Serato DJ Lite (cause pro version is expensive and lite version it is like 50% of pro version)
2. You have only 4 pad mode
Definitely worth the upgrade to Pro though!

Mr. Dobrý den I saw in other review that you have 2 additional pad modes with Serato Dj Pro. Shift + Cue gives you access to Flip mode, and Shift + Sample give you access to Pitch mode.
I own the sb3 and have used the ddj-400. I like them both but the 400 seems to have bugs, maybe it was just a faulty deck I used, but it seemed to have the sound cut out sometimes, and the buttons would sometimes cause the rekordbox software to jump around. Also I should mention that to unlock all 8 of the pad functions on the sb3 you need serato pro. The mixtrack platinum looks pretty cool, I would like to play with one for sure, and I don't really know anyone that would use the 4 decks on a mixer that only has two channels on the mixer, because when you switch to the other virtual deck you have to move the eq and hpf/lpf filters and effects all back to zero and this causes confusion, especially if you are trying to go back and forth between the virtual decks on the same side.
I have the 400, my only issue is the tempo sliders. It's difficult to get them exactly matched. Maybe that's just how entry level controllers are? This is my first controller so I don't have anything to compare it to.
@@MayteraMarble I run cdjs and I have the 400s and I can say ONLY ONCE since I've had them which has been about 2 weeks now, they cut the sound and buttons have jumped around like he said up there, but it happened once.. besides that no problems whatsoever, I actually like the controller so idk we'll see as time goes on, if the problem continues or gets worse ill just grab the 1000s.

I'm just curious and not knocking your ranking order. You have the Platinum FX #1 and the Pro FX #4. They're the same controller. Wouldn't that make it more like 1 and 2 or maybe 1 and 3 on your list?

@@DJPhilip47 , I have a Numark NS6II, Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX, Numark DJ2GO2 Touch and the previous Mixtrack Platinum. For me the NS6II is my main gig controller and I'll have the Platinum FX as my backup.
I had a loved the partymix with VDJ. I got rid of it for a higher quality controller and got a DDJ-400 - couldn't stand rekordbox. to go back to VDJ with DDJ-400's you have to fork over another $330 in licensing. so now i'm torn, maybe the FX but I don't want to have to buy another license. Can't believe how many more features in VDJ than rekordbox, unbelievable.

I'm struggling to make my choice haha!
I'd love to have the displays and the lovely long faders of the Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX , but have to pay over 100 euro for a PRO Serato licence, to use my SoundCloud GO+ library!
Whereas, Pioneer has no screen, too short faders, but Rekordbox full with SC GO+ support.
The Hercules has probably the best build quality out of these three, but again short faders and no screens, Uses DJUCED which supports SC GO+ streaming.

I have three of the four units: third choice is Pro FX; second, DDJ-SB3; and first is the DDJ-400. (I'm not interested in the Platinum FX because I don't desire the LED display on the jogs, and four-deck support feature is useless, IMO, without four volume faders/3-band EQs. Had Numark designed the Platinum FX to feature four-deck real estate---four volume faders/3-band EQs---that would have been a slam dunk, even if the price tag was 300 USD.)

thanks for the comprehensive review, have recently brought ddj200 as my first midi controller to get a feel for rekordbox and pioneer dj, the 8 pads and effects and everything rekordbox has to offer free forever is a HUGE buying point, but them jog wheel displays,and even the more spacious layout on a controller that looks the same size pretty much and has massive jog wheels.... I think I'm being hypnotized like everyone else.
Anyways, need a new laptop and a usb interface first for actual gigs. This will give me a few more weeks of contemplation time, next paid gig not till Jan due to the obvious, will have to choose by then as have sold my usb/sd all in one 2ch controller 🤣

you don't need usb interface. controllers have audio card inside them

SB3 with RekordboxDJ - great for scratch, you've got 3 FX and 16 PAD FX and 4 decs control, DDJ 400 have some weird sound backspin and scratch sound. Serato Pro is expensive and Numark are better for people who want to master beatmaching by ear at low cost due to long pich fader. Other than that looks nice, but have cut balls with Serato Lite.
Please compare the output of both... is the a difference in the sound levels and sound quality output. At the same levels, which sounds better when played through the speakers

It really doesn't matter which genre of music you play on any of these controllers, but the DDJ-400 is laid out like a 'Club Stye' CDJ set up!
Is numark compatible with Virtual DJ software?
yep. both Pro fx, Platinum fx, even the DDJ SB3 are compatible with VDJ 8.
planning to get an Inpulse 500 either tomorrow or next week. Currently on serato dj lite
The great thing about the Inpulse 500 is that it works with both Serato and DJuced!

Nice video bro but just to add one thing about what you said I have the previous Numark platinum fx 4 channel controller and I can use 3 Effects at the same time just by pressing then so unless that's been removed on the new ones then my bad for being wrong.

I guess it depends on how you mix, you can use the jog wheels to speed up / slow down the tunes!
@@djkit you always need to make adjustments on the pitch slider or else you'll be nudjing the jogs through out the whole song
I currently have the Pioneer DDJ-1000, but if I were to get a starter controller it would be the Numark Platinum FX. I always wished that Pioneer DJ had put mini "Style Levers" on the DDJ-1000, after all, they were first brought out on their DJM-S9 mixer (2015) and named them "Style Levers". So numark beat anyone first to place them on a controller.
It's a massive step from Numark, especially at that price point!

I was like you but when I tried Pioneer my Numark sits there.
Just purchased a numark mixtrack could not be happier, first mix sounded like it was out of a club. If you are planning on manual beatmatching DO NOT I repeat do not buy a pioneer entry level controller, the pitch faders on them are so small and sensitive it's a beyond a joke and the DDJ-SB3 doesn't even have a cue mix button for mixing through your headphones
late at night. The ddj 400 has a cue mix knob but the pitch faders are still pathetic. The numark doesn't have as many features as far as effects go but who cares you can still access them through serato. Dont make the same mistake I did!!!! Thank you numark!!!!

It's a comparison between controllers around the same price point. If I had a bit more room I would have included the Traktor S2mk3 and Roland 202 as well!

what about the new hercules inpulse 500 compared to the numark platinum FX?
Im torn between those too, i like the impulse for the extra out puts, the leg stand and LED lights, 2 softwares plus the beat match assistants, but i like the FX for the jogwheel display and the fx options on the controller both beautiful controls just come down to preference but i got the 500 🤷🏾♂️

@@yousseftamer7495 the inpulse 500 is a great entry level controller, ive use it for a gig with djuice the software is ok, you also have more inputs than other starter contollers out there which make this one more bang for you buck, my only grip i wish it had longer throw pitch faders and a display on the jog but thats the least, its build to last get it
@@yousseftamer7495 My way of thinking. I go for the stuff that has features that important for me and can't be substituted. On the Hercules, you soon won't need the guide lights as you learn, if you really want you can put legs under any controller, and led ligts above are just unnecessary or u can put those either. But the Numarks led screen and 4 decks controls, you can't do these on the Hercules. Only the more outputs are the plus on that, in this sense.

For the Numark models, is it possible to remap the FX to different FX with Serato Pro, or are you limited to only the included 6 FX no matter what?

My best guess is, with Serato LITE, you're likely stuck with just those, but when you upgrade to Full Serato, you should be able to select any FX you'd like.
What about recording though? Can you record your mixes with the ddj 400?
Yes. It comes with the full version of rekordbox

DJ Dave Jordan I purchased the DDJ-SB3 about three weeks ago. I’m gonna order the Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX, and return the SB3.
I like the physical features of the numarks the most but the performance pad features of the SB3 I would miss. is it possible to set them up in Serato software so the Numark could use them?
Pretty sure the Numark controllers are MIDI mappable, but you wouldn't be able to map the 'Pad Scratch' effect as it's exclusive to the SB3

I'm wondering if these are good for use with a powered pa system? my main worry is that they're powered by the laptop and so was not sure whether they would be powerful enough to upscale to a bigger sound system. Is this a problem for smaller controllers like this or will i be fine?

The pitch with that "click" when its zeroed ,its the worst thing a dj can have.Thats why people started to mod their Technics turntables,to remove that "click",cause everytime you need to fine tune the pitch on that clicking part it will be a pain on the ass,but nowadays most people just use Sync,they wont even need to mess with the pitch slider or even to have a hard time trying to handle that pain on the ass of click on the pitch though!!

IMO, DDJ-400. I think it's best controller for (approx. 275 USD) the money. It's really fun to mix on because it has the most professional layout of all four controllers in this video. It has excellent support for Rekordbox (if you like that software). It also supports Virtual DJ really well. If I couldn't plop down more than 299 USD on a controller, I would make the 400 the first choice.

Pretty helpful video. I have an old Numark mixtrack pro 2 and was looking for an upgrade. Still learning. I was looking at the 300 and was just about to buy it when these came out. Question to anyone who DJs now: how impotent is it to you to have to roll and slicer and fader options? I like the Numark but does the fact it only has 4 options instead of the 8 matter?
It's all swings and roundabouts, depends how effect heavy your sets are!
@@djkit Ok, being that Im still pretty new to this. When I play I don't really throw a lot of effects on. Maybe a little LPF and HPF but i don't play with a lot of other effects

Το recordbox είναι αρκετά πολύπλοκο και περισσότερο για επαγγελματίες.
Άρα η επιλογή είναι pioneer sb3 ή Numark platinum FX (τα δύο πάνω δηλαδή στο βίντεο).
Εγώ μάλλον για τον pioneer sb3 με βλέπω γιατί πιστεύω ότι θα πέσει και η τιμή του λίγο.
αδελφε περιμενα καιρο να βγουν τα 2 καινουργια κομματια της numark για να διαλεξω τι να παρω και πιστευω οτι η καλυτερη επιλογη ειναι το DDJ 400 απο θεμα λογισμικου και ευκολιας χειρισμου της κονσολας
I had a DDJ-SB2 for a while. The lack of separate play/cue buttons pissed me off, the pads felt like ass, and the jog wheels were so heavy it was impossible to scratch on it. Sold it and I'm gonna get a Platinum FX. Pioneer is overpriced shite.

Personally I'm between the DDJ-400 or the Mixtrack FX. You can't go wrong with any of these to be honest and from what I have heard transitioning between the different software if needed isn't that hard for the most part. The great thing about these controllers is that currently they are holding their value quite well so if it comes to it you can sell and get a different one.
