it's designed to.
the game was inspired by and is effectively a more casual MP enabled version of motherload.
it's basically a love letter a dev is sending off to one of the games from their younger days.
and given that skye died relatively recently (2015), it's a cool sort of tribute to him, esp if they find a way to incorporate an easter egg or memorial of some kind to him

Tiny trick from us old Motherlode players: When you are digging straight down, dig a nook left and right every now and then to make sure you can access valuable stuff you may find along the way. Also when you dig sideways if you want to go down, overshoot your X coord by 1 so you may keep going that way in the future.
Warms my jaded little heart to see all the Motherlode players loving this game.
There were tons of flash games of this sort. The most quality of them as I remember was Glean. It even got a sequel.

@@orbitalpotato It might be a problem to find a version and make it work. Flash is several years as dead after all. It is not impossible with internet archive, but not trivial.
@@YarikTH Kongregate still hosts them, but uses a different player now.

If the explosive can be used while flying/hovering it'd be quite useful to create branches after the fact. If you've not gotten into the habit of leaving the occasional branch path.
did you not play the flash game motherlode? there are quite a few of these games like mining mechs nowadays. but the one that was the most popular for the longest time was motherlode.

it was also never called motherlode, it was launched as a flash game as motherload and never changed
