i love this game and it makes me so insane with the cannibalistic symbolism because the dialogue shows how much Vince is sick of eating and wants to be able to taste again. from someone else ive heard that Vince wants to feel again, like how he only like lemons because of the sting of it and when he meets Rody he throws himself onto him, taking care of him, having conversations with him and inviting him to the diner party. He saw how much Rody loved his girlfriend Manon and hoped for Rody to enjoy his food if he cooked something that RODY loved, explaining the whole “cooking with love” thing. this also goes along with the Rat being cooked, because if you shoo it away you get a normal strawberry shortcake and if you give it cheese (aka Rody showing love to the rat) the rat becomes the strawberry shortcake. So this is why Vince thinks that if he cooks and eats Rody he’ll be able to taste again. Im so happy you got to play this game its amazing!!! 🎉🎉🎉

I just realized, in the flashback where Manon breaks up with Rody she talks about how he doesn't care about himself and priortizes trying to make her happy over his own needs to the point that it's exhausting, but Vince is the complete opposite of Rody because his life is dedicated to making *himself* happy, and that's probably why Manon became attracted to him, it probably wasn't a total coincidence that she just happened to like him like I initially thought

Also I'm sure he went to the hospital because his whole ear is gone. I doubt he knows how to heal it himself. Then the nurse and doctor is gonna ask how the heck that happened. And if he were to go missing, then police would know immediately who the murderer is. I don't have a problem with him killing Vince though. He just didn't need to commit arson. He actually wanted to kill Rody that night, the developers confirmed that I believe. It's honestly so cool to think about it more because you can clearly see Vincent's motivation and character through his actions in the game
I love how the thought process for Vince could be that in a wholesome way, he wanted people to love his cooking but it has gone so far to the point of it is to praise his ego as well, the way Rody didn't mention his favourite food made Vince think that if its something made of what he loves could be something he'd enjoy :')

For anyone who has questions, heres the story in a nutshell: Vincent is a very talented cook, so talented that hes constanty praised, seen as the most professional, and the best chef. Now, enter Rody. He's the exact opposite. Hes an unprofessional nobody who lacks talent and only follows his heart. Vincent's job is to make a meal that'll satisfy the customer, but he can never satisfy Rody because Vincent is only talent. Rody is only emotion. So when Rody eats something that is made with talent, he can't stomach it. Vincent, not understanding what it means to cook with love, decided to cook what Rody loves-- his girlfriend-- in hopes to satisfy him. Now, everyone thinks theres homosexual tones. Because of Vincent hiring an unprofessional waiter and ignoring the criticisms, while also trying so hard to satisfy Rody. But, I have to disagree. If you pay attention to the newspaper, then its clear Rody is the first unprofessional thing to touch that restaurant. That means he's something Vincent has never tasted before. We can tell by his home, reviews, and dishes that he only has the best. So, he went in the opposite direction-- the worst-- to see if he can finally taste. Thats why theres such an emphasis on Rody being a talentless pushover-- because Vincent is not. And again, remember what Rody said about the dishes? The dishes feel self absorbed. Which means, Vincent isnt trying to satisfy Rody's stomach for Rody, he's doing it for his own ego. As for the ending... This is my interpretation: Vincent said that Rody's ear would be better cooked. This insinuates he either tasted it, or is assuming so. Lets assume he can actually taste Rody's ear? That means his real taste is something hes been distancing himself from because of his ego-- his own emotions. He is so determined to be the best, that someone who is only emotions has a genuine taste to them. Which is why eating Rody is so important. Now, if he's just assuming-- that means Vincent is an empty man. His sole purpose is to cook, but he cant enjoy his own passion-- as shown when he didnt directly answer the question if he likes his job. He's miserable because the only stomach he can never satisfy is his own. The definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Vincent went insane alright. @@dymber Vince cooks without love, he mentioned that Rody made him realize what cooking with love might be (maybe he meant that cooking for someone hoping they like it or maybe he just meant cooking someone that the person eating loves, maybe both?) so after not getting an answer for what his favorite food is he chops up and hannibal lecter's Rody's ex. It also killed him inside to find out Rody never ate his food, apparently being disgusted by it (lack of love is no right to refuse a free ass meal tho). He probably kept him around since he found out that Rody's ex was also his current gf, and since Rody was such an honest person who loved her to the point of sacrificing what little money he had for her, he likely saw it as an opportunity to see if 'love' truly was his missing ingredient. It does feel like it's meant to be interpreted that Vince caught feelings but couldn't or didn't know how to express it and resulted in killing the girl to finally cook something full of love. He wants him to enjoy his food, in a genuine manner, but that failed and so after being found out as a killer, he tries to kill him. He dies in flames in a kitchen, much like everything Rody ever tried to cook. A poetic end.

I have a theory!! Vince is showing a liking to Rody. (The umbrella, drying him instead of just giving him towel. Also the are you single question makes me curious as to what the interaction would look like. Also asking about sleep shows he cares.) Maybe the blood on the trash at the beginning of the game means Manon was killed,, for the food? That would explain why she hasn’t called back in a week. I’m not sure if this makes sense, but I wrote it in a way that I understand so maybe you can too!!

4:44 as a busser, I actually like it when people stack the plates and don't make a mess. another pet peeve of mine is when I ask customers for finished plates and they say no but when they leave it's a big mess and the plates they said they were eating have not been touched.

At 1:00:12 when rody is talking to the girl at the dinner party she says that Vince must be desperate or took a liking to rody for him to be catering at a party dressed liked that and considering that Vince is "rich" and has no reason to be desperate/understaffed i feel it just adds to the point of Vince liking rody or why he didn't kill him that night.

One thing i noticed on how jay could have gotten the second day quota is: You can do one of every meal type, but you can only do one from each. Meaning he can do 1 order from A, M, S, and D, at the same time but can only have one order being made from each category.

rody spends the whole game burning his food & then he burns the restaurant lol. plus the fire ending has a burnt sort of food thing he probably made himself & a slice of lemon (vince's favorite food). another funny thing was that it wasnt random that rodys ex got with vince. on the wiki it says that her parents are food critics so they probably knew about vince or had connections w him. who knows, they might've even wrote one of the reviews that he has in his office. plus, rody called vince's food self absorbed, his gf broke up with him because he was too self-sacrificial. his gf got with vince becuz cuz he was selfish and didnt overly devote himself to her,. oh and plus plus theres a 4th ending when you fail the QTE during the final chase. its a mound of meat next to some meat slices on a plate. it's titled abattoir, which means slaughterhouse. this game is fun ahhhh

(I do think the plot makes more sense if you assume, as the dev confirmed, that Vince is somewhat... intrigued by Rody, as his friends and others note several times how he makes allowances for him he wouldn't for others while Vincent himself clearly is unable to understand normal moral and culinary tastes and takes "feeding [someone] with love" very literally here... but the implication is, even if he doesn't realize it, he feels a twisted love/obsession with Rody.)

For anyone who has questions, heres the story in a nutshell:
Vincent is a very talented cook, so talented that hes constanty praised, seen as the most professional, and the best chef. Now, enter Rody. He's the exact opposite. Hes an unprofessional nobody who lacks talent and only follows his heart. Vincent's job is to make a meal that'll satisfy the customer, but he can never satisfy Rody because Vincent is only talent. Rody is only emotion. So when Rody eats something that is made with talent, he can't stomach it. Vincent, not understanding what it means to cook with love, decided to cook what Rody loves-- his girlfriend-- in hopes to satisfy him.
Now, everyone thinks theres homosexual tones. Because of Vincent hiring an unprofessional waiter and ignoring the criticisms, while also trying so hard to satisfy Rody. But, I have to disagree. If you pay attention to the newspaper, then its clear Rody is the first unprofessional thing to touch that restaurant. That means he's something Vincent has never tasted before. We can tell by his home, reviews, and dishes that he only has the best. So, he went in the opposite direction-- the worst-- to see if he can finally taste. Thats why theres such an emphasis on Rody being a talentless pushover-- because Vincent is not. And again, remember what Rody said about the dishes? The dishes feel self absorbed. Which means, Vincent isnt trying to satisfy Rody's stomach for Rody, he's doing it for his own ego.
As for the ending... This is my interpretation:
Vincent said that Rody's ear would be better cooked. This insinuates he either tasted it, or is assuming so. Lets assume he can actually taste Rody's ear? That means his real taste is something hes been distancing himself from because of his ego-- his own emotions. He is so determined to be the best, that someone who is only emotions has a genuine taste to them. Which is why eating Rody is so important.
Now, if he's just assuming-- that means Vincent is an empty man. His sole purpose is to cook, but he cant enjoy his own passion-- as shown when he didnt directly answer the question if he likes his job. He's miserable because the only stomach he can never satisfy is his own. The definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Vincent went insane alright.

@@dymber Vince cooks without love, he mentioned that Rody made him realize what cooking with love might be (maybe he meant that cooking for someone hoping they like it or maybe he just meant cooking someone that the person eating loves, maybe both?) so after not getting an answer for what his favorite food is he chops up and hannibal lecter's Rody's ex. It also killed him inside to find out Rody never ate his food, apparently being disgusted by it (lack of love is no right to refuse a free ass meal tho).
He probably kept him around since he found out that Rody's ex was also his current gf, and since Rody was such an honest person who loved her to the point of sacrificing what little money he had for her, he likely saw it as an opportunity to see if 'love' truly was his missing ingredient. It does feel like it's meant to be interpreted that Vince caught feelings but couldn't or didn't know how to express it and resulted in killing the girl to finally cook something full of love. He wants him to enjoy his food, in a genuine manner, but that failed and so after being found out as a killer, he tries to kill him. He dies in flames in a kitchen, much like everything Rody ever tried to cook. A poetic end.

At 1:00:12 when rody is talking to the girl at the dinner party she says that Vince must be desperate or took a liking to rody for him to be catering at a party dressed liked that and considering that Vince is "rich" and has no reason to be desperate/understaffed i feel it just adds to the point of Vince liking rody or why he didn't kill him that night.

Watching this on Valentine's Day because it's... 'ow you zay, vewy romantique, c'est non? (I do think the plot makes more sense if you assume, as the dev confirmed, that Vince is somewhat... intrigued by Rody, as his friends and others note several times how he makes allowances for him he wouldn't for others while Vincent himself clearly is unable to understand normal moral and culinary tastes and takes "feeding [someone] with love" very literally here... but the implication is, even if he doesn't realize it, he feels a twisted love/obsession with Rody.)
