Mi abuela era de Nagua. Su padre fue un terrateniente/dentista cubano casado con una hacendada española (Rita Hernandez). Al dia de hoy todavia hay una calle que lleva el nombre de Mariano Perez. Mi abuela contaba que el se gano esa distincion porque la pareja de esposos, sus padres, repartian tierras gratis, dinero, alimentos, servicios dentales gratis y demas a todo el que necesitaba principalmente en El Factor y Rio San Juan asi como tambien en Samana y Sanchez. (Mi papa heredo esa misma "buena o mala" costumbre de estar regalandolo todo a los habitantes de los campos aledaños de los pueblos mencionados).
