Eli Wallach is the heartbeat of this film in the best supporting role ever acted.
He was so great in it,he steals the film in my opinion.
THOUGH THE EXACT SAME THING. HE TRULY WAS AMAZING. THE PERSONALITY, HIS STUBBORNNESS, UGH SUCH A GOOD MOVIE.

He's the actual main character of this movie since he's the most complex, Blondie/Joe/Manco's just there acting this as his origins story before the two Dollars movies. In FAFDM Colonel Mortimer is the real main character while TMWNN is the side character, his only main character role is A Fistful Of Dollars.

It was a miss print by North America part . The original title was called The good ,the ugly and the bad.

+TheNizzleShizzle Yes Trey got that bit of trivia right. The film was released in Rome a year before it was released in the states. And it was an Italian film. Not only did United Artists who had rights to the film for U. S. release decide to cut several important scenes out of the film to make it run less that two hours so they could start it over in theaters every 2 hours and sell more popcorn (those scenes were restored to the film for the 2003 DVD re-release in English..the Italian version always had them) when they received their copy of the trailer in New York, they had already decided to alter the title to Good, Bad and Ugly for English release as it flowed better, but they failed to notice the trailer was the Italian original which in English is Good, Ugly and Bad so Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef are out of sequence. They simply had an English speaking voice over announcer re-record the sound to the Italian cut picture so that is how the trailer has the sequence with the Bad and Ugly backward.
And to make you even more aware at how American distributors didn't take these films seriously, when the next Alberto Grimaldi produced spaghetti western was sent to America but Columbia bought English language distribution rights this time, they decided to look at the Good, Bad and Ugly trailer and not the film to see what part Lee Van Cleef who starred in the new Big Gundown played, so the trailer for The Big Gundown says "Mr. Ugly is coming"!! That carried this mistake over to the Big Gundown which was also released in Italy in 1966 but didn't come out in America until 1968.

i expected a super cheesy trailer but this trailer blew my expectations. It was beautiful, gritty and deep. One of the best trailers ever.
The quintessential Western of ALL TIME!! My grandpa was in love with these Westerns and I'm still mad to this day that it took me until after his passing to see how great movies like this (ESPECIALLY THIS) are. I'd love nothing more than to sit back and watch this masterpiece with him just one time. Essential Clint Eastwood viewing.

Translation error
The original title was Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo or The Good, The Ugly, The Bad. They switched Ugly and Bad around for the English title but then they just dubbed the original trailer which is why the names appear out of order.

Probably the coolest film ever with probably one of the coolest trailers. Legend!
My guess is that this is the trailer that was shown on American TV when this first came out. I remember as a 7 year old the anticipation I felt for this movie after watching it on TV. I had previously seen For A Few Dollars More with my parents and we all loved the movie. The excitement I felt for GBU has rarely been matched in my life. 61 years old now and I am as excited about this movie as I was when I was 7. Thanks Mom and Dad. Reb Yank Theater in Manassas VA in 1967.

OMG. I love all the Clint Eastwood movies. But this one is awesome.
Leone saved the best installment for last in his trilogy with Eastwood here. Epic finale. Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach are great. Love Morricone's scores in each film but the one for this film is my favorite.

Along with Stagecoach, The Searchers and The Wild Bunch, the Good, The Bad and the Ugly is part of the greatest western quartet of all time.
My Dad was in the Air Force, stationed in Spain when this movie came out. He said it played in the local theater there for a year straight and he saw it several times back then.
I just watched this movie last night for the first time man it was good now I have to watch all of Clint Eastwood Western movies I have seen hang em high lots of times now I must watch more of his western movies

the Ugly i laugh with some scenes ....is one of the greatest movies ever!!!!
The whole comment section is whiners complaining about how they got the character nicknames messed up. It was a translation error from the foreign titles. Who cares. Back then people didn't obsess over nerdy details that didn't matter in a movie trailer. They got a taste of the movie and either got excited or not. Just that initial camera pan at the beginning and that close up zoom to the cigar lighting the canon is enough cool visual style to get anyone pumped to want to see this.

I've heard this film is technically a prequel to the first two films. If so, this is the greatest movie prequel of all time.
Blonde doesn't get the poncho till the very end, so in effect it is a prequel. But according to an Italian legal case, Eastwood's character in a Few Dollars More is not the same as in Yojimbo, er, Fistful of Dollars
in Philippines.. we also have old movies with soundtrack like this movie had.. movie such as tatlong baraha and leon guerrero
