I just lost my first cousin who grew up in Chicago. I was driving the snow covered New Hope, Pa. countryside when I heard this on the radio today. He had been a figure skater and biked across America for HIV fundraising. Got home and replayed it with the video... beautiful!!
This is really one of the most awesome pieces of motion graphics i've seen lately. Awesome style and smooth animation. Incredible detail and an amazing atmosphere. This deserves a lot of attention!
+Abe Dieckman No problem man! I watched this a couple times now! Keep making awesome stuff! :) How long did this project take you? It looks like such a huge amount of details and layers. I think my AE would crash if I even tried to think about this much detail :')
+Thomas van den Heuvel It was a little under 2 months of working full-time hours. It was indeed a colossal amount of layers -- I think about 12,000 including everything in the precomps, but I haven't done an exact calculation. About halfway through the video After Effects was no longer able to display all the layers, so I had to split the film up into three projects to work on and then bring together at the end. Ironic, since the concept was chosen because it sounded like a way to keep things *simple*!
This band was mentioned by Tim Foust (bass vocal) from "Home Free" on "Starting & Creating a Lasting Music Career", Jacob Restituto's, so I had to come check it out. Very nice, I'll be checking out your other music.
I saw them at the Cambridge Folk Festival and last night in Manchester while on their UK tour. They were amazing at both venues. Keep up the fantastic work guys!
There is a two man group called the Francis Luke Accord that has a few similar sounding (kind of) songs. I've found a lot of groups that have acoustic stringed instruments but never one with the harmonies of this group or the singing ability.
Wonderful work. It's been awhile since I've seen something that has this much emotional impact. The environments/atmosphere are beautiful and watching him running through life... good lord. I will definitely be watching what you do in the future.
This video made me cry and I choke up every time I watch it. Saw Darlingside at Shakori Hills and now I just want more. (plus they are from my hometown area. I grew up in Dedham...close to Boston. I still have lots of family in that area.)
Came here throgh spotify (premium). Hearing this song 5-10 times during the day. Gets on my FlyFishing playlist with Bruce, M&S, j. Gonzalez, DMA‘s, Dawes, Chilled dreamed and smooth sounds... thx darlingside! Its not easy to find good new bands.
I've been very excited when I saw you guys released a new song! I've found you through "The Ancestor" and I was smitten with this song and its animation already. "White Horses" is a tranquil song. The guitar strings swelling in the background dominate the rhytm of the song and together with the lyrics it flows nicely with the video! I'm also an artist, although I focus on traditonal art, but I did try digital art before. It is pretty hard to pick the right colour palettes and make everything fit together to create a harmonic animation, but this video mastered that and it even told a bittersweet story while doing so. Keep up the wonderful work and art!
Wow, so beautiful! It's funny, I've love animation, and I've recently come to love Darlingside... But I didn't know the two were connected! It feels like destiny, or something.
jsT a realy .... as my life has been, crossin' borders & escapes to know who i'm ... now under my old apple tree on a hill to see all my trips ... ThX God
I love this place my home town. The song is amazing. I just wish we all could do something about this horrible epidemic of violence in our hometown. Terrifying.... We must bring peace among the races.

Heard this band on a college radio station and fell in love with their harmonies. Then I found this video. Wow!! I am a fan.
I don't have the vocabulary to do this justice. The marriage of two stunning artistic works, the music and video, is just magical!
Love the harmonies..like Crosby,Stills, Nash...... beautiful ❤️❤️
At first I thought it had Simon and Garfunkel vibes, but your absolutely right. C, S, N & Y is who it reminds me of!
I did not expect that ending. Wow.
TT - TT

+Jessica Bruce thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it!
this animation is a serious hard work. wonderful job.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
I wish animation so breathtaking didn't have to be accompanied by a story so heartbreaking.
I saw them at the Cambridge Folk Festival and last night in Manchester while on their UK tour. They were amazing at both venues. Keep up the fantastic work guys!
I already loved this song. This video is perfection, very moving.
I can't find any other band like Darlingside. I search for it and nobody else comes close to this sound. I am addicted to this band. Great video.

Oh and there's an older band called Nickel Creek who kind of does some similar things as well and they are very good.
0.0 An older band? Nickel Creek? The world has gone crazy!
I love this animation! I still get goosebumps, and I've watched this 3 times! Great job!

Sweet song. Stunning animation.
I loved this song long before I saw this animation, and I think the end killed me inside just a little bit, in a good way. #LovedIt

Great video! It is refreshing to see a video that tells a story without having to show nudity and or over the top PDA. Thank you for sharing.
Heard this on xpn yesterday and was shook.
This looks like a very good indie video game - and sounds even better :-D

Under rated
For Chicago.
It's like "My own imagination is the only thing keeping me going"
This band is still underrated? Let alone this song?
THE BRANDYWINE BRIDGE !! 00:50
I think I am on the right spot.

Song, story, representation... Amazingly poignant.

How do I share humanity with someone who thinks this song sucks?
