I do still have a question i can't find an answer to. I tried changing themes but the directory doesn't open open( i mean i am not even allowed to open the folder due to security reasons). If there is another method that i can curse the linux system to give me elevated permissions it would be helpful even if it is a boot time file manager

im wondering how i would install it from a live environment? im using ubunto trying to install it to the harddrive but its giving me a read write error . grub just isnt loading the operating system for some reason. but it is on the harddrive? idk my dads helping me out so im just trying to understand what were doing
I installed refind on a device that has a portrait display and it displays 90 degrees rotated counter clockwise. Do you happen to know how to make it display normally in landscape?
I'm not sure. Normally the config file is located at: /boot/efi/EFI/refind/refind.conf You can change lots of things including the resolution but unfortunately I don't see anything to rotate the screen.
Thanks man, you unblocked me :) Some thoughts on my case using an HP Revolve 810 G1, the bios on this thing is absolute trash. It took me a literal day to figure how to boot on windows and ubuntu after formatting and reinstalling both OSs at least 4 times. Grub didn't seem to work and i was stuck on a post loop as the laptop couldn't select any appropriate efi file to boot. I had to navigate the EFI partition each time and select the appropriate file to boot. Mind you last time I dual booted a system was 2009 or something like this. I followed the official guide from refind site and your video and I realized that having a cloned version of my windows partition messed with the ubuntu installation of refind as it doesn't point anywhere on the filesystem and created it created the .efi file on the second phsyical disc instead of the primary one (disk0). Had to delete the cloned volume (as it was the fastest way to proceed) and then purge refind on Ubuntu and reinstall it only to find out that the BIOS didn't auto recognise the new .efi file and had to create a custom boot in BIOS. this seemed easy but mind you the laptop's keyboard didn't let me type the "\" character so i couldn't properly point to the appropriate directory. Booted manually again to check if the button works and guess what it works both on Windows and Ubuntu it just doesn't work on bios... plugged a usb keyboard and all is well now So long story short Thank you!
lol did I block you? Sometimes YT shadow bans certain comments for whatever reason, so maybe it was YT? I'm not sure, I dont remember. Anyway glad you figured it out. Yea certain bioses can be a pain and dual booting can be a pain as well especially with Windows. To be honest, reFind only adds another layer of complexity so it might be an issue in certain scenarios, but it's been working good for me.
It shouldn't be difficult to check yourself. If your PC already has Androidx86 installed, just add an additional SSD and install Linux. Then install Refind as shown in the video and you should see Androidx86 when you boot up Refind.

What sucks though is that refined only works on older versions of Mac if you use Mac OS venture it may not work

I'm not sure if it's possible to install with a live environment. I suggest installing your distro first, then install refind.

Can we configure Androidx86 to boot from refind ??
If it has a bootloader then refind should find it no problem, but I'm not sure since I've never used Androidx86 before.
