Thank you for the tips! Haven't played suikoden in a long time and forgot a lot about the systems and things.
Very useful tops, I particularly like the explore everywhere tip and your tip about having a slow party member tipped me off to a couple of characters I could have recruited but hadn't at that point.

I might have not understood properly bec it's not my first language but the inventory can be upgraded as you progress. And yeah, falward and franchesca is definitely a must when you're inventory is still at max 30 esp for healing purposes 😂 they also do decent weapon attack dmg i believe. Franchesca also helps when reducing armor (and her calm fury lens is decent and does good dmg but takes along time to use). And ofc, they're very easy to recruit!

A good tip I can give is in relation to what you mentioned about quickly leveling lower characters: use the Growth Badge. This badge is found in the Abandoned Mine early on in the game. Equipping this accessory on one character will provide an EXP boost for all party members. So if you have a lower level character(s), take them to a higher level area with other robust party members and have the Growth Badge equipped and MAN...watch that experience stack up and level those characters like 5-8 levels!
I’m kinda confused by how SP works. Every time I start a battle the value just jumps around which is weird
4:09 for multi-hit character, the last number pop up actually total damage dealt, see nowa did only 149 damage after all hit.
it got me wrong at first, think multi-hitter are better than single hitter.
Applied to some of the heroes combo too. Like, Mio + Hakugin. very misleading.
Yep. It uses the same system for showing damage as the Tales series in this regard.

Only question would for me. In your opinion, do you feel the game is balanced enough to use the characters you like or is this going to boil down to using only a handful and the rest get benched?
If you're playing on Normal mode the game is very easy so it shouldn't be an issue using whoever you want.
Top characters video for hard mode? I uh am at t 60-80 hour mark now and i wanna use someone else but so far its always been sabine yusuke iugo then at d back is 2 healers fal and francesca then mc 😩 still at normal but itd be nice to be prepared for it

how to make the game slower during dialogues? characters run across the entire screen in a second.

And is it matter for character that leading the troops or all character that participate within the troops?
No it doesn’t matter.
Basically more recruits = better armies because theyll fill out the standard soldier slots and add passive bonusses that can proc during battles. Later, you can recruit a character that lets you improve the strenght of your entire army through upgrading your city.
Wait. Isn't the gimmick always done last anyway? Because whenever I have a fight with a chest, even if I use Nowa, which is my 2nd fastest character, he still only smacks the treasure chest after everyone has taken a turn. Or is it just for treasure chests?
It depends on the gimmick. One early boss has a gimmick that deals damage as the last action of the turn, but activating the gimmick to determine its target is determined by the who hits the gimmick last. In this case, if the boss is slower than you he will hit it last causing you to take the damage, but if you have a slower character than him you can make sure the gimmick hits the enemy.
Should i wait for a patch for the xbox version because i heard there was a bug that does not allow you to get a certain character.
That bug should be fixed, but the way to avoid it just in case is to not talk to the character until you are on a quest to do so from another recruit. Basically, there is a blonde character in a town called Daphan that bugged if you talked to them before being on another recruit's quest. That recruit is from Hishahn and the quest begins after recruiting them and then talking to them at the inn in your HQ.
You can also put in Water runes to mages so they can heal like Marisa..

I get that this is intended to be fairly old-school, like the suikoden games… but I do wish there was a journal, or even the ability to put notes on the map.
My adhd makes my hand written notes disorganized af.
I'm in a similar situation with handwritten notes. I try to keep my notes on a notepad on PC to help out a little bit because of this.
I have a trading cheat sheet to remember in wich cities to buy goods and wich ones to sell them. This lets me earn a lot of money and I dont even have to pay attention to the red and blue arrows. You can sell goods for a profit in the right cities even if theyre in the red there.

rune is very important, and each char have affinity to magic, someone can have higher damage with fire, or else just do 1/10 damage with it
For the most part character affinity for magic actually isn't all that important -- there are a handful of characters who have a -90 affinity, and even fewer of those you'd actually be casting magic with. In most cases the difference is between 0 and 20 affinity. It's something you can look into and get a boost from, but not something that is very important.

Not sure. I don't have the Switch version so I have no way of checking.
Running Frannie and Falwie in the back is wild. 😂
Not really? Francesca is super fragile so putting her up front just so she can hit the back row isn't worth it; the only place it could matter is if a boss with armor was considered to be in the back row, but there isn't one like that. As for Falward, he is long range and so there is no upside to placing him in the front row.

@@ChurroWaffles They are only healers in so much as the game introduces them both as healers -- swap their rune to an offensive one they instantly become an offensive mage. For me neither of them actually did much healing outside of their hero combo, which was the primary reason I used them; for the most part they were pure damage dealers.
@RozalinGaming The double healer hero combo is insane. It's a must have in my opinion for hard difficulty. Plus as you said swap the rune and your ready to rock.

I didn't like the game at the beginning because it felt slow, but it grows on you after awhile 😊.
I've always liked the exp system from Suikoden Games because it reduces the grind by alot.
Even with the encounter bug, it's still playable with very few random battles.
You can use your GPU software to limit the frame rate to resolve that issue; I don't remember how to do it with Nvidea (I think its the control panel) but for AMD its called "AMD Chill" under the graphics settings. Set it to 60 and you should fix that issue without having to play with any annoying settings > then toggle it off when you are done playing
What is the problem with PC? Too much random encounter bcos of framerate?

And the boss ends up being extremely hard in the process.
Is there a way to make combat select the characters in order of their turns?
It throws me off so hard that I have to pick every character's attack first, regardless of speed or turn order, then watch them play out in a completely different order.
I'm adjusting, but it still feels so strange that I always select my slowest, last acting character's turn first...
As far as I know there is not a way to do this.
It's really a non-issue, due to being able to see a turn order at the top of the screen. So, it really doesn't matter which order you pick the characters action, since you are going to pick all of their actions before battle starts anyway. As long as you pay attention to the turn order you're fine.
i am torn between getting the switch version or the steam for using it on my steam deck. i prefer stable performance over quality. which one do you recommend?
the switch version is poorly made sadly, cant talk for the steam deck but it runs great on my ally even in 10 watts mode so i guess steam deck is the better choice over switch, but on the steam deck u have to buy i just play the gamepass version
The switch version apparently has huge performance issues from everything I’ve read.
Orrr ps4/5 and then just remote play with steam deck lol
I’m on Switch and it’s not as terrible as everyone says. Feels like I’m playing a PS1 game and they are going to patch it soon and address the performance. Go with what you want to play on and enjoy the game. The negatives are very overshadowed by the positives of the game.

Semantics. But if you want to be technical, it's not "almost all" but less than half that are actually playable; and since you want to use semantics, until they actually join you, all of the recruits that are playable are very much NPCs until recruited.
Hero combos except for Francesca are basically useless hahah

No it's not, lol. Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is, but not Hundred Heroes. Doing just the main story is 40-50 hours; a completionist run is 80-90 hours.

@@amdanthony5255 Of course. I don't think you're alone in mistaking the two games since their titles are similar. Rising is the companion game that released first and is a prequel -- that one is super short -- but Hundred Heroes is a full JRPG experience.
i feel bad. i really wanted to like this game, but it wasn't for me. i felt so bored the first hours i had to drop it.
Why do we need to note their gender though?
Because it can be an important note for recruitment.

@vgnvideogameninja2930 I have so many games to play and I'm not a big fan of tactical turn-based rpgs. I know the game is insanely good. But it's just not my kind of game.
game is pretty mid. i wanted to like this game but i couldn't keep myself awake the first hours. and it has a lot of issues that were fixed in the jrpg genre last 2 decades, but this game somehow didn't want to embrace the imrpovements and kept the limitations as a feature. Like not being able to save anywhere, not healing on save points making fast travel for later, boring battles and random battles everywhere.
