OMG, this MD player was my favorite MD player in my entire life. The way it breaks is exactly the same as the one I used to use. I think this owner probably dropped it because he carried it everywhere he went like I did, or it got deformed by colliding with other devices in his bag. I was in elementary school at the time and tried to take it apart to try to repair it, but I gave up as soon as I saw the motherboard lol. Now that I think about it, it wasn't the motherboard's fault. Watching you gradually fix this made the boy inside me happy.
People that let their tech get into this condition don’t deserve to have them. Never in my life have I broken or neglected any of my tech and if you looked at something I bought 20 years ago you’d think it was new.
this is if you are the only owner. often such things end up in a bag with wires from old phones and then in the trash. And maybe someone picked it up from the trash. in any case, I think it was not the owner who did it
I have a mint condition one in the metallic grey finish I purchased in Malaysia and was manufactured near where I worked as an I.T consultant, purchased the padded hard carry case with it, probably why it’s in mint condition. Batteries still available for it (original doesn’t hold a charge anymore, was not surprised by that 😂). Have around 40 or so minidisc media that still play and record. brilliant piece of kit for the long 14 hour flights from the UK to K.L airport. Nice you saved it 🙌
I have a recorder similar to the ones in your parts bin that someone gave to me. It will play discs reluctantly (a little light percussive maintenance is sometimes required) and seems to obliterate the TOC on non-write protected discs, making them unplayable. I wish I had your tools and your skills. Good job and thank you for the extremely satisfying video.
Great job. I salute you. One of the things I miss is that MegaBass circuit on the new digital Walkman series. I still wonder why they didn't add this feature. Tapes played wonderful and beautifully on those machines with that circuit on.
Hello, un trabajo increíble y muy interesante, muchos problemas que as podido solucionar con una destrezas genial ❤. Felicidades por tú estupendo trabajo y vídeo. Un saludo muy grande desde Conil, Cadiz, España .
I have an MZ-R30 that just recently started erasing discs randomly that I’m going to need to repair, but Sony’s earlier MD models are so intricate and complicated, it’s one of the few devices I’m scared of destroying by taking it apart…. Or getting everything back together.
Wonderfull fix. I was made some like this the display with a deck Sony "membrane buttons" but were easier because the fix is big. I fixed with silver solution. Please, what is the switch in the battery. How it work. (sorry for my english) Thankyou
After opening the battery, I was surprised that this switch has no clear function. I think it has no role, or that it works as a manual guide to differentiate between charged and uncharged batteries if you have more than one battery.

Same hear brother.
I have exactly the same model, bought in 1998 and it still works like new. The battery even charges to my amazement. I do like to look after my tech.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the video! 😊
Most impressive thing was the restoration of ribbon cable. Patience and skill in complete test😊
Thank you, it was a real challenge!

I searched and found a nickel conductive ink pen on Amazon. I used one once years ago to repair a damaged trace. It should work for that ribbon cable.
Не ну хорошо когда ты умеешь чинить и собирать такую мелочёвку, но ещё лучше если к этому ты ещё и гуру ассемблера и Си, - а это уровень технобога!
Crazy cyber neural operation is amazing
Above all, the piece de resistance is the laser eye, be careful how you clean it.
Any idea about lubricating the mechanism?
Lithium grease?
Hi, what album were you listening to when you were testing the player please? Thanks!
"Freeestylerr..." 🤩
Great job!!!! Congrats!
Thank you so much 😀
15:49 the yellow FPC seems broken, it could not be use for a long time...
I also thought it was cut, but after examining it, I found that the copper wire was not damaged.
Especially with a restoration you have to pay attention to all the parts of the wakman
This is a repair video, not a restoration video.

Thank you for the tip from South Brazil!
Conductive ink pen will solve your ribbon issue
El cable plano lo pegas en una base delgada y rigida como soporte y lo pelas con cuidado con un cutter. Es recortar pelar y pegar.
wow amazing
Thanks a lot
