Seemed like a better option than for him just straight out propose to Sansa outright. Remember, he didn't know Ramsey was crazy. Sansa marrying a noble of the north was good for Sansa. And good for his plan. He needs a strong Sansa for them to be on the Iron Throne together, eventually.
Alcathous That's true, it was a clever move for Littlefinger, since Roose was the new Warden of the North and Sansa a Stark...but we viewers knew from the start what a marriage with Ramsay would mean.
I genuinely think the best thing would have been to marry Sansa to Robin - the presumed heirs for the North and the Vale. LF would then have an excuse to give the Vale forces: they need to attack and regain Winterfell so they can be part of a strong alliance between the North and Vale. I think Robin is a better option that Ramsay. He probably would never insist on sex and LF could spend the rest of his life trying to convince Sansa to give birth to his bastards and pass them off as Robin's.
Alcathous I think that Littlefinger believed that Stannis would destroy the Boltons, leaving Sansa a widow and Lady of Winterfell...which, in LF's mind, would bring him closer to that picture..as for Robin, I think it was mostly Lysa's idea and not LF's.
Playful Fruit because she's not a pushover any more. The other Starks were honorable fools, Sansa (and Arya) seem to be figuring out how the game is played.
It would make more sense. But marrying Sansa to Boltons is so unwyse. Why would Petyr give his key to the North somebody??? He is responsible for death of Robert Baratheon, death of Ned Stark, the war of five kings, death of Joffrey Baratheon (Lannister) and so much more. All these actions he did to cause chaos, which he uses to get power (and Catelyn Stark). Unfortunately, Cat died, but her beautiful shape lives as Sansa Stark. And after all this Petyr gives away Sansa for what???
Roughnegg Littlefingers loves no one but himself if you haven't figured that out yet! If he really loved Sansa's mom as much as he claims he would've saved her from the Red Wedding.
She got a way from one lunatic in Joffrey and now she going to marry Ramsey who is an absolute nutter, I just feel sorry for her. Lord Baelish is so manipulative 😤😂
Can we just talk about how amazing Sophie's acting is in this moment? Sansa does a complete turn around, yet when it happens she says nothing; it's all written across her face and in her eyes. Her initial reaction is sourced from the 'old' Sansa. Sansa the child. She's saying what old Sansa is thinking, something she wouldn't do in Kings Landing. Then she makes her decision. Petyr doesn't force her into it. She's allowed to make her own choice. He's making her into a player. Just because he's taking her there doesn't mean she's one of his pieces. This girl is playing the game. Ramsay might like games, but he plays them by his rules. He doesn't get the game of thrones. I highly doubt he even knows it exists.
Duscha Pendragon Agreed. I am so glad they are now really giving Sophie a chance to shine and really show off her acting chops. Because I've always thought she was a pretty decent actor, but she just hadn't been given enough material to work with in previous season (or at least, not a great variety of material), which has led some people to assume she's a bad actor. But she's actually quite good. Makes me excited for the new Jean Grey!
Funny enough, this scene really shows that Sansa in the end had no real reason to hate Lord Baelish. He gave her a choice. She could have chosen to turn back around with him. He also gave her power to change things, to stop being a bystander, to really think for herself and believe in herself. I think how she treated Petyr in the end was unfair. It wasn't his fault that Ramsey was a violent creep and sadistic rapist. She can blame him for arranging the marriage and making her meeting with Ramsey a possibility, but she chose to go through with it in the end.
This is one of the plot that i hate the most. Book littlefinger would NEVER sell sansa to anyone. He’s obsessed with sansa, she’s like the daughter he wished he and cat had, but also she looks like a younger more beautiful version of cat. Also, he’s aware that sansa is a highborn, carrying the oldest family name in the north, and by law the heir and the key to winterfell. She’s too valuable to be given to anyone. In the books, it was jeyne poole faking as arya that was sold by littefinger to the boltons.
Devynn Hageman exactly. The North would be forever grateful for him saving the oldest Stark child. He would have the Vale AND the North. He is growing stronger, step by step. I love his character.

I don't buy that. He maybe cares about her a little, but not enough. Not enough to do what's best for her. It's always about what's best for him. That's what always comes first.
And after Ramsey they're gonna marry her to the resurrected Mountain. Wouldn't surprise me. It appears to me that the goal of every GoT season is to be more sadistic than the previous one, no matter how realistic it is. I guess it works.
I'm curious what would have happened if Sansa had said no. Obviously he wouldn't have turned the carriage around as he said. Would he have forced her to go, since she couldn't very well fight off Littlefinger or the Boltons as they were both set on the marriage, or would he have taken her straight to Cersei to gain her favor?
Yeah. I tried convincing myself that it's quite possible that she would have wanted to go ahead with the plan, but it is also equally or more likely that she would have said no. She was a confused, slow learner yes but that doesn't mean she would have to go ahead with everything he has planned for her.
Sansa meeting Ramsey was the creepiest moment in the show! But Sansa learns to play the game. This is very interesting. I'm looking forward to see her change.
It's impossible to believe that Baelish doesn't know what a sadistic psychopath Ramsay is; with all the spies at his disposal. Unless Baelish winds up killing Ramsay, this is completely contradictory to his character's obsession with Sansa....
Maked Marvyl Well, Ramsay has been known only as a bastard of a lord who until recently was relatively minor. The North, especially Winterfell, has become more and more dangerous to outsiders, so proper spies must be difficult to place there. Besides, LF might have a plan and loyal people looking after Sansa for him to make sure Ramsay doesn't do anything.
D&D said in an interview that he isn't in love with her, he just has a "creepy stalker" obsession with her. So he loves power more and will pick it over her every time. Kind of like how he intentionally made Lysa witness him kissing her... more for power rather than love/lust.
i don't know which interview you mean but GRRM said himself that LF has romantic feelings towards sansa also in the making of version of the last episode of Season 7 D&D said that LF has strong feelings towards Sansa.
If Bailish had any loyalty at all, this would have made a great speech. He was right. But he also left her to fight a monster she didn't have any defence for. He deserved to die. But what a superb character!
So, I'm guessing Petyr's plan is to eventually get the North for himself? He already has some level of control over the Vale, and has set up some sort of alliance with the Boltons, yet is encouraging Sansa to get her revenge. So Sansa and Theon team up and take out the Boltons (another colored wedding, maybe?) thereby securing Littlefinger's hold over the North through his alliance with Sansa. The Bolton's hold on the North is still very tenuous, so even if Sansa fails and is killed, it would be enough to trigger the other Northern Lords to go to war with the Boltons and topple them.
So no Harry the Heir and potenitally raising the Vale of Arryn to support him then? Really not liking the direction season 5 is going in. Also, where is Young Griff and the Greyjoys? They are literally game changers in books 4 and 5.
Simon Turner FFC and DWD are so complex, they would need like 4 seasons to tell the entire story. So if they want to make the most complex books into one season then they will have to cut out all the new characters like Crowseye, Harry, Young Griff etc.
Simon Carlhammar I agree, but they could've still done the Greyjoy story with references, the kingsmoot, and a couple of other scenes to build up for them into season 6. Griff on the other hand, I don't care about.
Littlefinger, dude. Seriously, brush up on your research. You gonna play into Ramsey Bolton's hands, you need to know your stuff! That guy is a beast. Surely you've heard of what kind of person he is.
I still say he was bad for her... But he care for her, it was just that old saying “Bad love” and am tired of people saying he groomed her. He taught her how to play the game, thinking she’d end up with him. He made her worthy wife/partner, grooming mostly refers for sex alone. Sure that was his end game, but he waited his bride ( as he though she’d be, boy he got that wrong) able to protect herself and know how to play as a queen not has a pawn her whole life or be Codependent on others...So really him dying the way he did I think been cooler if he smiled, though neck slice and try to say “ well played..”. Or mouthed ‘ I love you...’
I am both scared for this storyline cause of my fear for Sansa but at the same time I am really excited cause really want to know where this storyline goes
I like how at first she's so reluctant to the idea of marrying Ramsey, but then Littlefinger convinces her. He's teaching her his ways of thinking, which is just amazing. And he's right, this way she can take back Winterfell. Their relationship is a bit creepy, but he cares for her and she starts respecting him. I'm very curious how it will develop. Personally I wouldn't mind them joining forces and getting their revenge.
Sansa really doesn't get any luck with her marriage proposals. Hopefully she will be quick to understand what kind of person Ramsay is and find allies in Winterfell
This scene made no sense. He said "you won't be marrying Roose, you'll be marrying his son Ramsay"... why would that be any better? Like Ramsay would be kind? Did he really think their house would treat her well at all? It made absolutely no sense whether or not he knew about who Ramsay was.
My guess is that it was a win win situation for him. By giving Sansa to the Boltons and convincing her that it would benefit her, he stays in her good books so that if she ever does become Wardeness of the North once Stannis defeats the Boltons, he'll have sway over the north with her as his ally. If that didn't work and Stannis was defeated, he could sell her to Cersei in exchange for being made warden of the north himself. What he wasn't counting on was Sansa's escape. He sure didn't count on her making it to the wall and being protected by Jon and his army. It was only when she was in a position of self sufficiency and influence that he decided to back track and pretend that he hadn't sold her out in order to get back in her good books. Thankfully, Sansa saw right through that nonsense.
My guess is that the writers only have a limited time to tell and wrap up the characters story line and so they compromised by combining essential plots. Book Sansa 's potentially marrying Harry the Heir in order to take back Winterfell with the Vale army (after Sweet Robin's killed and all.) The TV show does not have time for the slow pace of the Vale storyline in the book, so Sansa was put in a situation that would put her directly in Winterfell and tie up the whole taking Winterfell back storyline quickly.
Except there are drastic differences in marrying Sansa to Harry and marrying her to Ramsey. Marrying Sansa to Harry would give her influence over the Vale and a way to regain Winterfell. Marrying her to Ramsey just put her in danger. Sansa had no influence at all while she was married to Ramsey. The only way she could manipulate him was by making him angry, which we see her pay dearly for. In TWOW excerpt, we see that Sansa is able to manipulate Harry with her sexuality, but Sansa never tries to do that with Ramsey. David and Dan set up Sansa as this master player who's able to rely on her sexuality, but they never show her using it where Ramsey is involved. That's poor writing. I'm all for speeding up the plot, but they could have done that without marrying Sansa to a sadist. Consider this: Littlefinger and the Vale army came to Sansa's aid when she escaped Winterfell--why didn't he just use that same army to attack Winterfell BEFORE marrying Sansa to Ramsey? What was stopping him from using that army then?
this part single handely shows how stupid the decision to sway from the books was. In the books littlefinger never does this and sends a fake arya instead of the real sansa, which is way more littlefingerish in execution.
Sansa was marrying Harry the Heir in order to take back Winterfell with the Vale (after Sweet Robin was killed and all.) The TV show does not have time for the slow pace of the Vale storyline in the book, so Sansa was put in a situation that would put her directly in Winterfell and tie up the whole taking Winterfell back storyline quickly.
nwankpag also as a show viewer and book reader, we are way more invested in Sansa on the show. Introducing someone extra at this point really would not have made sense.
Wasn't there a scene where Jeyne Poole doubled as Arya in the TV show as well? I remember a scene of her meeting Jamie and introducing herself as such.
he basically sentenced himself to death when he took her to the boltons . a better move would have to hide sansa and wait till a few of the key players killed each other and then marry her .
This whole subplot really made no sense, her marrying the Boltons accomplished nothing strategically. He had control of the Knights of the Vale he could of just gone and taken Winterfell with her at his side
I can only imagine that look on Cerseis faces when she finds out she's marrying into the boltons and she realizes she can't do squat because she not the queen anymore.
I hope Sansa gets to stop Roose Bolton through the heart while saying "The north always remembers"... But that will not happen, because this is Game of Thrones.
Anyone else pick up on the fact that before Baelish and Sansa got to Winterfell. He said, "Your Sansa Stark...eldest surviving child of Eddard and Catelyn Stark." This son of b, known that one or more of the stark chidden are alive.
Surely Baelish knows what Ramsay is? It would make more sense to use Sansa to try and rally the North against the Bolton's, rather than trying to control the Boltons
I understand why the D and D did this by having Sansa playing the role of FAyra her having more acting role in storyline. But I think Littlefinger plan on her marry the Harry the Heir is better.
This is why I laugh when I hear Sansa is the smartest person in the whole show she willingly walks into the home of the people who killed her family is surprised when it does not go well
"You are Sansa Stark. Eldest surviving child of Ned and Catelyn Stark." Uhm... Hold on. Why would Petyr make a point that she's the _eldest_ Surviving(!) Stark child? We were always guessing whether or not Petyr knew about Arya (all the way back in season 3) but if Sansa was the only one he knew of, he would not have said _eldest_. That's totally irrelevant in the context. He would say "only", right? I think I'm on to something.
Because Littlefinger wouldn't allow Sansa to know Arya is alive if it doesn't fit into his plans. Right now he is playing on Sansa's need for vengeance in order to get her to marry Ramsay Boltons. Her need for vengeance is greater if she believes that every single family member is dead.
Is it just me or the camera work from 1:15 to 1:19 is the worst in the series...Its used so out of place! Me and my brother cringed the first time we watched the episode! Its just terrible! Really bad for such high quality show!
The Game of Thrones TV show is now completely independent of the book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire". The major events taking place in GoT Season V are now specific and unique to the TV show and are no longer a part of the books.
Sam Martin I won't spoil it for you in case you ever read them...but this is no longer a televised version of, "A Song of Ice and Fire", it is the Game of Thrones TV series. Sorry if you don't like it.
Man, it was so stupid that Baelish would just give up the Jewel of The North™ to the Boltons. At this point, she should have just pulled a Hound, say F* you all, and become a travelling Bard lol. Or, you know, kept her in the Vale as a bastard who learns to empathise with her bastard brother and learns to play the game of thrones, all whilst wearing her dead Aunts clothing.

lol and here we are in 2019
Well this aged like wine
Now kiss
Hahaha! That camera zoom in at 1:15. Wtf was that
Anna Via I know, it looks very strange! Wonder why they didn't do anything about it?
And after Ramsey they're gonna marry her to the resurrected Mountain. Wouldn't surprise me. It appears to me that the goal of every GoT season is to be more sadistic than the previous one, no matter how realistic it is.
I guess it works.
You have Tyrion Lannister, The Imp, and then Petyr Baelish, The Pimp
0:34 guilty puppy
I'm looking forward to see her change.
i love those series so much ;-;
That zoom though
I’m surprised she didn’t resist come on Sansa
anyone else wanted that coat they are wearing?
Can't wait for this season's score release!
I don't know why but I kind of love Petyr.
this might be the scene that ensures littlefingers fate...
Sansa just looks so smokin hot in these scenes
Simon Turner fAgeon is a red herring, it's likely that he will have no importance to the story
i guess sansa marrying ramsey is good in the short term but sansa with the vale i feel will have a way bigger payoff
GiftedCombo Littlefinger tells Sansa that he's planning to reveal her identity and reclaim the North. Same end, different roads
Littlefinget went in for a kiss but ended with a hug and a peck of the forehead....
Forever in the friend zone
All that speech without looking Sansa to the eyes. Petyr is one terrible liar.
"i won't force you to do anything" yeah you could have lead with that before giving her a mental breakdown lol
"There's no justice in the world unless we make it"
I am both scared for this storyline cause of my fear for Sansa but at the same time I am really excited cause really want to know where this storyline goes
If you read the book you know this story does not go well. In fact it’s absolutely horrifying.
Ah, something like that did happen.
"You loved your family, avenge them." Says the man who betrayed her father.
"Avenge them, Lady Stoneheart"
Sansa really doesn't get any luck with her marriage proposals. Hopefully she will be quick to understand what kind of person Ramsay is and find allies in Winterfell
So Powerful!!
that scene show how the tv show became bad by not following books
I still don't understand why he even sold her to Ramsay lmao
+PomegranatesAndDroids My guess is that the writers have no idea what the fuck they're doing and haven't since s4
My guess is that the writers only have a limited time to tell and wrap up the characters story line and so they compromised by combining essential plots. Book Sansa 's potentially marrying Harry the Heir in
order to take back Winterfell with the Vale army (after Sweet Robin's
killed and all.) The TV show does not have time for the slow pace of
the Vale storyline in the book, so Sansa was put in a situation that
would put her directly in Winterfell and tie up the whole taking Winterfell back storyline quickly.
All "this fake Arya "thing was so dumb in the books. I'm glad they did differently in the show.
no it isnt idiot. The fake arya shows how genius littlefinger is.
We already know he is a genius you dumbass. The fake arya idea was just shitty and not credible.
He had control of the Knights of the Vale he could of just gone and taken Winterfell with her at his side
i feel so worried about her, i dont want sansa to die.
LF is so fkn hot
I can only imagine that look on Cerseis faces when she finds out she's marrying into the boltons and she realizes she can't do squat because she not the queen anymore.
jwiese100 she couldn’t do squat cause she was arrested by the High Sparrow.
Dinah Graham Remember he saw Arya with Tywin in season 2.
And that moment Petyr Baelish knew he fucked up.
Such a pivotal moment for Sansa's character. I'm confident she's about to become a boss ass bitch in season 6.
And she was!
Will we ever find out what happened to poor little Rickon? I mean he's an heir too right?
This is why I laugh when I hear Sansa is the smartest person in the whole show she willingly walks into the home of the people who killed her family is surprised when it does not go well
Well, Sansa wasn't a bystander to tragedy this season -- now she was the tragedy. Perhaps Littlefinger should have been more specific.
Don't you know by now how much I care for you
"You are Sansa Stark. Eldest surviving child of Ned and Catelyn Stark."
Uhm...
No, no, I meant that this kind of confirms Petyr knows Arya is alive, which has been a mystery for quite some time.
Sue Meriah Remember he saw her with Tywin in season 2.
Is it just me or the camera work from 1:15 to 1:19 is the worst in the series...Its used so out of place! Me and my brother cringed the first time we watched the episode! Its just terrible! Really bad for such high quality show!
Littlefinger hasn't indeed little fingers.
Poor Sansa. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. 🍳🔥😞
She should be so lucky to marry Roose… he would have been a MAJOR upgrade from Ramsey
Poor Sansa. Littlefinger is a jerk. He sold her to that jerk.
The Game of Thrones TV show is now completely independent of the book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire". The major events taking place in GoT Season V are now specific and unique to the TV show and are no longer a part of the books.
Eat hot poo
Sam Martin I won't spoil it for you in case you ever read them...but this is no longer a televised version of, "A Song of Ice and Fire", it is the Game of Thrones TV series. Sorry if you don't like it.
Andy Appleton Nah you're right I just felt like saying 'eat hot poo' haha
RUN SANSA RUNNNN
Jeyne. Jeyne. It rhymes with Alayne.
can't believe she is going to marry that sadist! she as usually does not see it coming- poor girl:((
marty mart but that women warrior who protected her mother- I predict is going to save Sansa
I always almost threw up every time they're kissing on screen.
