The “forced“ part of the question is gaslighting the issue. No one thinks that you were forced at gunpoint to buy anything, but I don’t think you would’ve bought a Roma spider if it didn’t help your chances of getting future special edition cars and that’s totally fine no need to defend it.
I don't think it's gaslighting at all considering how many comments in the previous videos imply he bought the Roma purely for an F250. However I agree, he almost certainly had to buy it for dare I say 'lower tier' special edition Ferraris that are slightly more accessible such as the sf90 xx. Once again, he shouldn't have to defend it. He's driving the cars, putting on mileage, specs them how he wants. Her certainly isn't a flipper.
100% agree and don't get why people make a fuss about it. The only people buying a Roma are - relatively wealthy ones e.g looking to replace their current car, and maybe have another 2 cars for daily driving. - completely new to the brand because of the "low" price point. - collectors like Tim who do so for smart strategic reasons. Ferrari knows that, we know that, so all this explaining from Tim was not necesary.
@@doggies.will.be.doggies Because shmee isn't open and honest about it. If he just came out and said "yeah i need to buy xyz car to get access to abc car", then nobody would have an issue, but shmee constantly pees on our goes and tells us it's raining.
Were you forced to? Obviously not, they can’t force you to buy a car. But you know, Ferrari knows, and we know that if you want to advance within the brand to be able to get the high demand limited edition stuff you have to buy the lower demand stuff like the Roma. If you enjoy it and have a use for it then even better!
It's quite justifiable from Ferrari's perspective, they don't want to give limited edition stuff to a first timer to the brand who might turn out to be a flipper and that's why they always stick with their existing customers for allocation of such stuff and essentially it's a reward for being loyal. People don't understand the perspective of manufacturers, they always think from Jay Leno's perspective.

@@kennethluff4736 Audi doesn’t make a lot of limited production stuff that often and don’t really make many cars that cater to collectors or big time enthusiasts. @@Brian.Jones.310 yes and I agree with you but I’d say giving a chance to the guy that has had 3-5 cars and kept them for a good amount of years and drove the cars should be enough. Sure they have enough customers that could ignore anyone that has less than 10 cars but it’s just not the best business practice as they allow even those customers to take delivery of it and just never pick it up only to let the dealership sell it for them 5 months later for double the price. I honestly love the blue and silver combination. The black wheels are super outplayed and everyone has black wheels now so it’s nice to see a natural spec as beautiful and timeless as your Roma!
Directional wheels that aren't functional are also super outplayed. If there was a benefit to having the wheel "twisting" clockwise then it _must need_ a mirrored version on the other side of the car, like Corvette's torque directional wheels.
Manny Khoshbin said in a video that he pulled his deposit on the SF90XX because he had to buy the Roma and the Purosangue first and he didn't want either of them. Within a month of that video, Shmee and Triple F Collection both announced Romas and Purosangues then some time later announced SF90XX. Probably just a coincidence.
He's full of crap. I have an XX Spider on order which is harder to get than a coupé, and I don't own a Roma. The ONLY car that you cannot sell, is the SF90. That you can sell after you take delivery. I'm guessing he never got that allocation and had to cover for it to save face.
@@EA40 I can answer, but what is the relevance? This is about a defacto statement made, claiming that a Roma is a must. I’m guessing that you think that I have other cars that make up for me not owning a Roma? See the thing is this, and this is also a point Tim tried to get across. The Roma means very little I. The case of the XX. Unless you really don’t have any other Ferraris, the Roma helps you very little. It may please your dealer rep, who will the try and get you an early build slot for a car etc. but that’s it. Now the XX Spider is a bit different why? Because that car is given to Tier 1 clients with an SF90. But to just underline what I said. The fact that a person states he did not get an XX allocation because a Roma is a must, is either lying or clueless. And k think he is lying. Why? Because there are many content creators out there who tries to create content on cars they hope to get - and sometimes are too overconfident in getting. That's the big difference between a car you tuber and a true collector. The you tuber buys what gets view's (DDE is a good example) a true collector buys what they love and feel passionate about. Then in rare cases you have someone like Tim who is able to be both successfully. This was a fantastic video Tim, really enjoyed it.
Yeah totally agree mate. I’m a massive fan of DDE and also really enjoy watching Tim. Love DDE for buying the cars and modifying them and so on and then you have Tim where he shares the passion of owning cars (just like DDE but comes across different in my opinion) and keeps them mostly standard and shares the experience of owning it.
@richtaylor2129 I agree with what you have said because they’re Tim’s cars and he can do whatever he wants with them and also choose what color he wants to spec on a new car.
Beautiful spec. Honestly, I love the Roma spider. It gives me 250GT California spider vibes. It's clean and classic. Elegant and sleek but still modern. I wish someone like Tamiya would do a 1/24 scale kit for it.
A few weeks back I saw one in Trier, Germany. Bit darker blue than Shmee has. The owners looked nowhere near elegant though xD. Just awful although it was on the parking of an Aldi.

Shmee says the same about Ferrari starting around the 17:00 mark. The prices of the lesser Ferraris are undeniably inflated by all the rich people padding their collections in order to get the exclusive Ferrari model they really want. It's genius milking of the rich
@@Brian.Jones.310 it's obvious if you have a basic understanding of economics. The extra-rich can only get exclusive Ferraris by buying lots of run-of-the mill Ferraris. That artificially induced increased demand for those lesser Ferraris undeniably and unavoidably increases the prices Ferrari can charge for those models.
@@skierpage That's absolutely rubbish. These vip collectors and first timers pay the same price and Ferrari dealers (certified one's) don't charge mark-ups so that the first timer can pay extra and get the car over the vip customers. The price of these standard Ferrari's remain about the same throughout their lifecycle and if it changes dramatically, it's because of inflation and time value of money. These standard cars aren't limited in production so that the price will increase due to demand. SMH, terrible take on Ferrari's. Also, even if I imagine what you're talking about is true then that's applicable for every other supercar brand and that would be absolutely hilarious.
@@Brian.Jones.310 keep showing how you do not understand economics. Induced demand raises price. End of story. Romas would cost less without Ferrari's games. Other supercar brands could simply charge more for halo cars to limit demand (or they could have faltering demand like the Rimac Nevera). But if demand exceeds supply, they have to pick which customers get allocations. Encouraging they buy lots of lesser cars (thereby allowing the car maker to charge more for them) makes economic sense. Porsche UK dealers do this, watch Mark McCann's "I EXPOSED SUPERCAR DEALERSHIPS" video.

6:45 Ferrari absolutely does that tho. Captainsparklez (Jordan Maron) was told he had to buy a Portofino to buy his Pista, plus don’t you always say when you review all the hypercars that they’re only available to Ferraris elite customers? So that would mean you would have to buy all the cars to even get a chance. So buying a bunch of Ferraris because you like and enjoy them looks very similar to what owners who want the limited cars are doing
@@Shmee150you're either fooling yourself or being disingenuous. At 17:50 you explain all the stuff you have to do (translation: give money to Ferrari) to even be in consideration for an allocation of a special car model. You say how you could only order an SF90 XX after buying an SF90! If you enjoy "the journey" or "the game" (translation: all the cars and events you pay Ferrari for) to even be in consideration for an allocation, then it's not a problem to be milked by Ferrari, but clearly plenty of wealth6 car collectors find the enormous hidden cost to acquire an elite Ferrari egregious.
@@skierpage At 17:50, he's very clear that one needs to be more wealthy than him to purchase a LaFerrari or its successor/predecessors. What do you expect Ferrari to do? They will be producing the car in limited numbers, they just can't allocate it to someone random, someone who is new to the brand, someone who might flip it for a profit. And importantly what would happen to those who are actually interested in the brand and like their cars? So you see, Ferrari can look at their part, they will only entertain those who are interested in their brand, who are spending on their brand, they can't look after each and every car collector.
@@skierpage If someone is trying to get an allocation and has a generous following on social media, is that person is going to admit that they are playing the "Fluff Ferrari" game and risk losing any curried favor? Hell no. They are going to make a video such as this.

The SLS Black Series always takes the show for me. What an amazing auto and spec to be seen. Out of all of your automobiles, this one will always be my dream. Well done, you.
Simple- Ferrari is having a hard time selling the Roma models- my Ferrari dealer offered me Roma spyder and wants me to buy them if I wanted the more limited models. He is lying - if he told the truth he would not get the allocation for future new performance models. Those hard to get models appreciate - more than enough to offset the loss he will take on the Roma. And Ferrari really wants you to do an open end lease / and the dealer will take the car back in six odd months and will earn a fee for consigning and selling the Roma. Plus in his case- he can help advertise the Roma which no doubt makes Ferrari very happy and is more likely to give him allocations to the limited production cars. Nothing wrong with the Roma - nice car- but they will depreciate rapidly so harder to own. Used Roma sell for less than msrp. They don’t threaten you to buy slow selling cars to buy hard to get cars - just understood. Ferrari dealers also want you to buy Ferrari from their floor to help them keep the resell prices strong. They definitely make you sign an agreement that limits you from selling a car through any other way other than consigning your new cars back to the dealer - typically for at least a year.

Oh cmon Tim... at this point do you really think that your audience doesn't know how the supercar world works? Porsche wont sell you a GT3 RS unless you have a good variety of other porsches and so does Ferrari (even more) with their line-up... cmon... don't treat your audience as if they were stupid...
Ferrari is coming up with a limited production car, how do you think they will allocate it? Do you think they should allocate it to first timers to the brand who might turn out to be a car flipper or to their existing customers who are interested in their brand and have been loyal to them? Ferrari's system is much more genuine because showing interest and investing in their brand will definitely result in a limited production car being allocated. With Porsche it can go either way and also their dealers charges a markup and can take away an allocation from their existing customer and give it to those who would pay a bigger markup. So, Porsche is even more.
Shmee we all know how geniune you are the credibility you have in the automotive content creator industry is unmatched but i also get why people is questioning you about your choice of buying a roma and i loved how you addressed all the drama
Ffs! Reading the comments section gives me a headache. Here's a good video actually laying it out as it is. Not an hour in, and back to business as usual. ldiotic.
A friend of mine had 2 x 288 GTOs, an F40, a Daytona coupe and a spider, a 275 GTB4 and GTS, a 330 GTC and a Dino 246. Didn't get a ride in them all, sadly. Drove his son's 308 at Donington, and a Testarossa on the road. Rode in the 288 and both Daytonas. Got a glimpse of a different life.
So many people either didn’t watch the video or it went in one ear and straight out the other 😂. Love the channel Shmee, been a follower for over 7 years and you’ve always been real about it all ❤
The “forced“ part of the question is gaslighting the issue. No one thinks that you were forced at gunpoint to buy anything, but I don’t think you would’ve bought a Roma spider if it didn’t help your chances of getting future special edition cars and that’s totally fine no need to defend it.
Agreed.
He's a very smart man, playing the game is half of it.
The only people buying a Roma are
- relatively wealthy ones e.g looking to replace their current car, and maybe have another 2 cars for daily driving.
@patrickbaratz7135 isn't this exactly the same as every other high end brand on the planet? I'm sure Audi aren't letting any old person but the RS6 GT.
@@Andy8x what other Ferraris have you owned? Or do you support Ferrari's racing programmes?

I can answer, but what is the relevance?
Mark McCanns video about this basically confirms that people have to buy a lot of models across a brand to get access to the exclusive models.
Shmee says the same about Ferrari starting around the 17:00 mark. The prices of the lesser Ferraris are undeniably inflated by all the rich people padding their collections in order to get the exclusive Ferrari model they really want. It's genius milking of the rich
@@skierpage Can you explain how the prices of the lesser Ferraris are undeniably inflated by all the rich people?

Just got my Shmoo the Cow, Shmooperator, #219. Awesome. Never thought I'd be fast enough to get it and more impressed that it came 12 days faster than expected since I'm in the U.S.
I think your channel is underrated, a awesome channel like this deserve 10 million plus subs
Very good explanation, shmee. Thank you for telling the truth and telling these people who just assume. Enjoy the Roma!! Beautiful car.
Babe, wake up Shmee150 uploaded.
Love the honesty, the passion and all the information I got from you in the past years of watching. Ferrari is a dream of mine as well so it makes it even more special to see someone succeed and achive their dreams. Can not wait for a 12 cilindri, XX + what future brings.
I have always loved the style of the Roma. My spec would be forest green with tan interior.
Green over brown sounds nice. The Roma looks very feminine to me, however. It's like a car you buy for your wife, lol. I said it.
You’re such a classy, respectful owner of your cars that present them to the world in interesting ways, I’m sure Ferrari would love for u to get a F250 allocation
Aww I see the red Fiat looks like mine. Her name is Phoebe. I got her when she was born in 2015 and I put 135,000 miles on her. Guess what she finally died. Last weekend she wouldn’t start so she’s in the garage dead and I’m trying to figure out what to do now lol. She still looks beautiful and shiny as an old gal.
No way, I hope you can figure a way to get Phoebe up and running again
@@Shmee150. Thank you me too. I love your channel. ❤️
I enjoyed this video, very honest and informative.
Hey shmee I love your channel so much and I love my shmoo which I ordered
Nice one! Thank you

Been subscribed for several years. Watched your videos even longer. Your Gumballs, Road Trips and Garage tours ( seeing it go from cow barn to the amazing place it is now ) have been my most popular viewing! Buy what you want, disregard the negative comments! Best Wishes!!
The love i have for ferrari is insane
I won’t say that i watch every video but of course i watch most of them even i’m 8 years follower but i never miss a ferrari video and since ur orders to the ferraris am so blown away with the videos now and i love that u build the cars in ur own taste am so happy watching fr
It could be a bad egg of a dealer or a sales person, but that's individual circumstances and not my experience.
Beautiful spec! Amazing car.
Many thanks for taking the time for a picture at Goodwood.
Him making this video just proves all the commenters right. He multiple times emphasized that he was not forced to buy it. Noone ever said he was, he simply knows that for future purchases and therefore content for youtube, he needs as many ferraris as possible and help the brand as publicaly as possible so this purchase is ofcourse not "forced" but it is very reccomended long term
Every other brand does that, Porsche, McLaren, Lamborghini, Ford.
Go read the comments again. A ton of people directly uses the word "forced".
On top of that, people keep using the term "cars nobody wants" etc.
It's ridiculous.
Why not just listen to what he is saying? Those of us in the know, have zero issues believing him. It's all the non-owners who think they know everything.
lol no one is buying his “sales” pitch! He can’t come out and admit the situation. He’s doing what all politicians do when they can’t answer honestly….gaslighting 101 🤷♂️
@@NaRdo_Slay27
You know who buys his video? Those of us who know. This is by far the most accurate and well explained video on this subject I have seen to date. The fact that you won't understand, just shows what kind of power there is in myths and hearsay.
@@Andy8x Good for you sport! That’s because you’re naive 👍
Do your thing Tim, you do it very good. Soo many cars in not that long time span. Youre the king of automotive UA-cam. Cheers
What a sympathetic guy this man is. Refreshing
That green Roma spec is almost exactly the way I would order one.
Hey Shmee!

Tim! Will there ever be a MiniShmee 🤣
its mental that you have to explain all this, but kudos for being so open. i'm here to stay with the ferrari content and collection, why wouldn't you want to own the full range of new ferrari's, i know i would if i could ha!
The man just buys what he likes, duh
Pretty much
Hi Tim. Great video as always. I must say that you don’t have to justify yourself to anyone regarding the choice or colour of a car you buy. People should just respect your decision and enjoy your content as much as I do. I’ve been a follower for years and I’m honoured to of followed you and team on your amazing journey. Keep up the good work
Hoping that your next ferrari is yellow
It won't be yellow, but it will be out there
Ferraris are my fav. Please keep binging on them, Shmee. Love the content.
You gotta suck Enzos ghost to buy the special models
Im dead 🤣🤣🤣
Just a great video Tim. Good honest content 👏👏
We know why, to get a Purosangue and SF90XX allocation!
No you don't know why, that's kinda the point of this video
@@Shmee150 So everybody else is lying about how Ferrari Dealerships work? Even Jay Leno! They just really like you for some reason?
Plus are you saying that if you hadn't bought a single Ferrari you're saying they would have given you a SF90XX allocation?
