    Thanks for actually showing that an HSS configured Stratocaster is the most versatile guitar out there. I recently bought one of these in sunburst. Most of my other Strats are also HSS configured. I compared the Shawbucker to the DH-1 humbucker in one of my American Deluxe Strats this morning and was glad to know that they are fairly close in output and sound.

    Jack, great review. I had a 2020 fender player hss Floyd and sadly I let it go. Looking at getting another hss but something upgraded to the player hss. Would this be a good option? I’m a Gigging guitarist and need to sit well in the band mix.

    Just bought one of these, pickups make a lot of noise even when on the humbucker. The neck shrank a little bit because of the winter we are having and now the fret edges are poking out😩.....the only good thing was i got it for $999.00. Go with the elite model if you want a fender

      If the neck shrank and the frets are sticking out it's pretty obvious you've bought a fake strat.

    • @midwestfisherman
      @midwestfisherman 6 років тому +3

      Charles Edward Renshaw that’s totally false. All wood “moves” with the change in seasons, temperatures and/or humidity. Fret sprout is easy to fix and once fixed usually never returns. There are plenty of videos on UA-cam which show how to fix fret sprout. If someone is not comfortable in trying the fix themselves then taking it to a qualified luthier is the way to go.

      Midwestfishman - okay thanks for that although it's not totally false - cheap strat copies are more liable to develop problems than the genuine article so I was actually putting out a warning to be careful where you buy your guitar. Also the original comment advised people to buy an Elite as if to say they wouldn't suffer from 'fret sprout' which seemed as if he didn't really know what he was talking about.

      The lesson is keep your guitars in a controlled environment whether real or replicas. If you keeps guitars in environments that are too dry (cold climates with dry central heating systems) the wood shrinks and problems will be inevitable. That’s the same for an elite or professional Stratocaster. Best solution is a humidifier to keep the water content of the air controlled. Alternatively keep the guitar in its case when you’re not using it.

      @@charlesrenniemacki Not necessarily. Yes if it's properly cared for. Not everyone does that. Left out of a form fit case for the guitar and in dry winter climate it can draw up enough for you to feel the fret edges. I saw a guy bring in a Gibson SJ 200 last week and the thing looked like he left it out in the rain or tossed it in a pond.

    Nice playing, Jack .How do you like the feel of the new deep c neck? You seem to get around good on it.

      Thank you! Its very comfortable. My personal reaction to necks is if I find I'm not thinking about it, its a good neck, and I honeslty didn't think much about it at all until you asked (does that make sense?) - not thin and weak, not a baseball bat.

      HSS has a cool sound! Gives a little more power and bite to the bridge position, but still a Strat through and through.

    Hey Jack, I'm considering the Strat HSS and I'm currently trying to understand the difference between the "Double Tap Humbucker" on the Performer series vs the "Shawbucker 1" on the Professional series, but could not find enough information online. Would you mind explaining me the difference? There is at least a 400 Euro difference between the Performer and the Professional models. I'm never going to play in a band, it is mostly going to be in my home and when being with friends. But nevertheless, could you please point out the differences between these two Humbuckers?

    • @JackFossett
      @JackFossett  4 роки тому

      So I actually haven't played a Performer and amp not totally sure on the differences tonally, the best thing I could say is just watch as many demos as you can find on both and see which you prefer overall better. I honestly can't imagine there would be a huge difference in a Fender bridge humbucker.

      @@JackFossett Thanks for the quick reply! Since this will be my only guitar that I will ever spend my money on, I just wanted to be doubly sure on the best possibility and given the fact that the price difference is just 400 Euros, I'm taking every single valuable opinion! Thanks anyways!

      I have the American pro HSS Shawbucker strat… It is a nice sounding bridge pickup, well balanced. It is designed to be full humbucker in the bridge position (#1) with a 500k pot. In position #2, this pickup is split into a single coil to combine with the middle pickup for the classic strat tone. The pot changes to 250k for a good balance between the two. In the performer series, the bridge humbucker can actually be made into a single coil in position one for that twangy bridge tone. It is done by push-pulling the tone knob. That is the main difference.
