Just made a little dome for my beardie, this works very well just takes time to sculpt and shape your desired cave. Make sure you let it dry before letting your reptile in!!
Is it a good idea to use this for arboreal reptiles? I'm planning on getting mourning geckos and i would love to create som type of rising hill/background with holes and burrows using excavator clay.
Sand is only ok for the following DESERT lizards: Scorpion Tailed Geckos, desert chameleons, collared lizards, and steppe runner lizards. People talk about Leopard geckos not being from oceans of sand but from rocky areas, that is not the case with the lizards I listed. Those ones are really from seas of sand and are adapted to eating on it. Scorpion tailed gecko surprisingly Don’t even ingest the sand when grabbing food off of. Unless you have one of those lizards, don’t do the sand dusting part at the end like this man did here. A substitute substrate is eco earth but you should not be using loose substrate with baby lizards. If you do, your honestly choosing the terrarium look over the lizards health and animal control should be called -_-
A little bit of Coca-Cola product placement! That looks amazing! I've been interested in using this for a while. Thanks guys, you know your stuff! - Subscribed
Mitch Henderson Think it will make PepsiCo. jealous? As for the Excavator clay, it DOES look amazing. It's a really cool product with endless possibilities. Thanks for watching!
Wow! I was thinking about using Styrofoam for my structure. I never thought about using clay. Does this clay substance you demonstrated dry hard like Cement? Will it eventually break down in a high humidity tank for Red Eye Tree Frogs? Or if I include a waterfall, will the water eventually wash the substrate away?
If you use sand just make sure your pet is not eating in the enclosure. I use sand in my bearded dragon tank and she is very healthy , has never had any problem with poo 💩 all I do is take her out of her enclosure to feed her . She has separate container for feeding and another for baths. Sand is more natural it’s just a bit more work when it comes to feeding.
once dry go over all surfaces with a tooth brush then vacuum out the "crumbs". Should be fine after that, as long as youre using it for something light and doesnt need high humidity
This very father and everithing but you have not put to think if it came to crumbre as it hapened to you and the geckos is inside???? 🤔 YOU do not know that the sand can swallow it and when that happens it is a safe operation Since it can not be digested by the geckos so it is better to do it Whit clay and paint it.
What type of snake would use the same closure? A corn snake Maybe? Please reply because I really want to try this out but I don't have a snake to try it out with XD
Sand is a naturally encountered surface in nature. Usually the reptiles that are given sand substrate are desert dwelling reptiles that would be on sand often in the wild.
Kyle Morris a common misconception. Although some species do live on sand in the wild, I find it way too common for people to think that leopard geckos live in a barren sandy desert. They live on a rocky/hard clay type substance.
Animal Lover internet myth? There’s been peoples animals promptly DIE because of it. Look it up and you will see it’s not just an “internet myth”. And besides, leopard geckos do not live on sand in the wild. It’s sort of a mix of hard packed clay and rocky terrain yes there will be small places with sand but there’s barely any. Please look up and know the facts before you comment
All you lot complaining about sand but he never said it was for a certain animal, maybe a desert scorpion for example or a sand boa. He never said this enclosure was for a gecko for example
Would this be OK for a Leopard Gecko. Just asking because I heard that they ingest sand and that causes impaction. The clay looks sandy and I was wondering if is is still like sand when Dried?
I have a question say you used it in your gecko's cage and it's hardened and dried, later say in a few years if you don't want the excavator clay in there anymore is there anyway to remove it
Saw 2 beardied (young one) in a setup that zoomed did at big al they were pretty happy. For larger beardie, like mine i used 4" pvc pipes as support and the rest is just to make a ornamental wall.
I screwed up my terrarium by creating a substrate with Zoomed Excavator clay by adding too much water. The substrate still feels cold and damp. Would baking it out over a period of time solve the problem?
can you explain to me why mine just crumbles because I spent so much money on this and it's just crumbing. like the structure stays but little Peace's just fall off and I feel like in about a week there won't be much of a structure anymore
We've got it even CHEAPER than the website mentioned below! It's on sale now on BigAlsPets.com-- click HERE: www.bigalspets.com/naturalistic-terrarium-waterfall-kit.html
We'd love to see your final setup when you've got it all built! Feel free to share a photo (or even better, video) of it on our FB (facebook.com/BigAlsPets) page and we'll feature it!
I was down until he added the sand....
yeah I don't like sand either, I put in eco earth (ground coconut shells) instead
Landfall's Very Ow+ I was like 'Real Shit?'
yeh same.. i was like "shit man thats perfect... aww .. awwwww.. wait"
I understand all your points but he never said it was for a certain animal, maybe a desert scorpion for example or a sand boa
for real
I was cringing when he added sand
Yeah it's all cool until you realize when you clean the tank you have to rebuild it
Wow this is amazinOHMYGOD HES ADDING SAND
i would be cussing so much while doing this
s_ r why
@@gurleent5496 cuz its hard
Me to 😂
Sand boas are reptiles too. Some scorpions can have it too. You lot probably think you're experts too lmao
How TF am I supposed to clean this
Emari Money idk
Vacuum
Emari Money toughest part 😂
Replace it every few months or so
You break it apart when you clean it then you build something else when you’re done
I was really excited until he added the sand.
"Reptile experts" *uses sand* -_-
yup. because reptile comes in a very sterile place where there is tiles as their substrate.
Do you know anything about reptile care? Sand can cause impaction in some reptiles.
ajm0208 Some. He never clarified which one this is for:). It could be for a snake
scorpions and snakes
dune geckos need sand to burrow in
Just made a little dome for my beardie, this works very well just takes time to sculpt and shape your desired cave. Make sure you let it dry before letting your reptile in!!
Don't add the sand
Why
Is it a good idea to use this for arboreal reptiles? I'm planning on getting mourning geckos and i would love to create som type of rising hill/background with holes and burrows using excavator clay.
I used this in my aquarium with some aggressive type fish. The fish like it because they can’t see each other now and coexist peacefully
Everyone who didn’t like the sand part; You can just put the clay on the bottom as a substrate.
Sand is only ok for the following DESERT lizards: Scorpion Tailed Geckos, desert chameleons, collared lizards, and steppe runner lizards. watch part 2 of this vid when the cave collapsed onto the reptile.
vassilis Thegreek send me the link plz!!
Fagthony lmao whats a 'last name'? I said it as a joke 😕
PAC ATTACK I laughed so hard for some reason when I saw this
It would look better with echo earth the sand ruined it
A little bit of Coca-Cola product placement! That looks amazing! I've been interested in using this for a while. Thanks guys, you know your stuff! - Subscribed

I think it’s a rly cool idea and I like how I can customize my lizards tank butttt I just don’t trust it
I'm ok with the cost I've wanted a bearded dragon for a while, I would just like a nice habitat like this for it too live in
so how does one clean the enclosure or remove the sand when you want to change it up.
I think you ruined it by adding the yellow sand
This is not good for small reptiles cause impact ion and so is clay
The sand ruined it
Wow! I was thinking about using Styrofoam for my structure. I never thought about using clay. Does this clay substance you demonstrated dry hard like Cement? Will it eventually break down in a high humidity tank for Red Eye Tree Frogs? Or if I include a waterfall, will the water eventually wash the substrate away?
it will harden like cement but in high humidity it will still soften but it won't fall apart like mud
If you use sand just make sure your pet is not eating in the enclosure. 3:00 Saw That Coming
Ive been thinking about getting this stuff for my beardy in the 4x2x2 Melamine enclosure i made her
Is there impactation danger
once dry go over all surfaces with a tooth brush then vacuum out the "crumbs". Should be fine after that, as long as youre using it for something light and doesnt need high humidity
can it be used in a high humidity tank? not semi-aquatic but really humid?
Is this stuff fertile? Id love to turn this into a vivarium
Can you use excavator clay for tarantula enclosures
This very father and everithing but you have not put to think if it came to crumbre as it hapened to you and the geckos is inside???? 🤔
YOU do not know that the sand can swallow it and when that happens it is a safe operation
Since it can not be digested by the geckos so it is better to do it
Whit clay and paint it.
Sorry dude but with that plastic bushes and yellow sand you screwed it all up 😞
Yeah I wasted money on this once and as soon as it dried it dried it collapsed randomly
Maybe you didn’t pack it hard enough? Or the moisture was too high?
Tru
I'm doing this for my next tank when I get some step runners so many cool things you can do with this stuff
What type of snake would use the same closure? A corn snake Maybe? Please reply because I really want to try this out but I don't have a snake to try it out with XD
The Pet Owner I doubt it's work with a snake
How many bags did you use?
You should not use sand that bad for reptiles! Use clay, tile, or carpets from pets smart or something!
But they sell eco earth and sphagnum moss. And those are really good for some reptiles...
It is just a internet myth not to use sand it’s there natural habitat
Animal Lover internet myth? There’s been peoples animals promptly DIE because of it. Look it up and you will see it’s not just an “internet myth”. Why did you put sand sands bad for geckos
Aren't the beardies gonna die from imp action from this stuff? I'm scared that when I get my beard that this is gonna kill him/her is it really safe?
TheFunGurl XD don't feed on it and don't get calcium sand and you shouldn't have a problem
ღDragonEмрressღ Ikkk
Why the facebook ad song i hate it
Would this be good for a salamander or tokay gecko?
no unless there a more dry salamander then no humidity will make it calapse
I was super loving this vid until you put the sand in, nuh uh sweetheart
.
The clay looks sandy and I was wondering if is is still like sand when Dried?
ive heard bad things about this product
I'm having questions I have a leopard gecko and wandering if I should do this I have a 20 gal and he is about 2 years old
i put it in a huge cage for my Uromastyx 3 month later he got scared and his tail hit the top of the burrow he was not happy :(
Does anyone know if minus the sand this would be suitable for a leopard gecko
Reptile Jones uses PVC pipe as tunnels. He leaves them in the clay and builds around them instead of digging holes
I have a question say you used it in your gecko's cage and it's hardened and dried, later say in a few years if you don't want the excavator clay in there anymore is there anyway to remove it
Can't leopard geckos and other reptiles get impacted on this?
Could i use this in a 20g cornsnake tank for my snake
How do I clean excavator clay should I just use wipe out directly on it???
Is this okay to use for beardies?
Saw 2 beardied (young one) in a setup that zoomed did at big al they were pretty happy.
For larger beardie, like mine i used 4" pvc pipes as support and the rest is just to make a ornamental wall.
How many pounds of sand were used for this
Technically you aren't supposed to use sand for reptiles cuz if they swallow it it could become impacted :\
Is this hard to clean? Also, how often do you clean it?
It would be best if you did bioactive any water and it will disinegrate
USE A BALLOON ANIMAL BALLOON AND POP IT THE NEXT DAY PERFECT FOR TUNNELS
A pain to clean up poo and sand gets stuck in their butt when they poo.
I screwed up my terrarium by creating a substrate with Zoomed Excavator clay by adding too much water. The substrate still feels cold and damp. Would baking it out over a period of time solve the problem?
I keep sand out for my Beardie but this stuff is AWESOME.
When you do close ups the sand looks like melted cheese.BTW you are an evil, inexperienced reptile owner cuz you used SAND.
Holla Dolla its clay...?
Funny at some angles it looks like a giant skull face
Ok, but really, how do you clean?
It's so pretty and big
thats what she said
I put too much water in what can I do to fix it
Wait for it too dry lmao
scorpions and certain snakes can use sand guys
Could this work with an aquarium
Could the reptile swallow some of it
how much did you guys use in this video?
K
Please respond guys at big als
That came out really good and not much to it really.
I hope tjis is just for display
nice way building fine terrarium...
How many bags where used
No wonder zoo med likes to make tall terrariums (it looks fun shaping the clay)
can you explain to me why mine just crumbles because I spent so much money on this and it's just crumbing. like the structure stays but little Peace's just fall off and I feel like in about a week there won't be much of a structure anymore
Brandon Rode do you let the clay harden?
is good for an adult beardie
I put my bearded dragon in it is that ok
Can i use that with dwarf bearded dragon?
Am going use it for my yellow devil scorpion
wow thats amazing! great job!
kakseen Thanks a ton! We love using the Excavator clay! Have you ever used it?
umm i looked around at some stores around me and i couldnt find this product can you tell me where i can find and buy it please. thanks
I found on a page called "Per mountain" it's really cheap there
Hope this helped :)
We've got it even CHEAPER than the website mentioned below! It's on sale now on BigAlsPets.com-- click HERE: www.bigalspets.com/naturalistic-terrarium-waterfall-kit.html
OK thanks a lot and ill make sure to buy some other products shown on your channel you actually help me out a lot with using all of it thanks
We'd love to see your final setup when you've got it all built! Feel free to share a photo (or even better, video) of it on our FB (facebook.com/BigAlsPets) page and we'll feature it!
how many kg did u use for the 1st part? (with spoon and corck round)
what size tank is that
Im thinking about using it for my future beardie. What happens when beardie poop or pee on this? Is it too hard to scoop up?
Not at all. Once dried it is easily picked up.
what if it caves in when the pet is in it?
using this for a bearded dragon,
is it fine if you build a wooden frame and use this around it to have form of frame work inside the clay
What size cage
What about it desolving
Is this good for emperor scorpions?
do you have to eventually replace it? maintenance seems difficult..
jake jiracek all you do is scrape off the poop and it should come off quite easily
Is this recomended for bearded dragons?
it will be a pain to clean
does this setup work for rose hair tarantulas?
Godess Dragon I guess you can I really don't know cause I don't own any tarantulas
Wayao yes it does I use this clay for mying, it's just clay perfectly fine.
Sand...
LOL it LOOKED nice tho.
