Trinidad to Tobago on the Buccoo Reef fast ferry. EP47

- With frustration, I literally watched Buccoo reef leave Hobart in 2021 during Covid lock downs in Australia, and nonsensical travel restrictions applied to the unvaccinated around the world!
I was trapped in Hobart while Monastrell was trapped in Trinidad, and as you can imagine, it crossed my mind that this could potentially be way back to Monastrell!! It wasn't to be and took me another 2 years before I was reunited with Monastrell!
It was very cool to see the Buccoo Reef operating in TT, and even more cool to be invited up to the Bridge by the Captain during the passage from Port of Spain Trinidad to Scarborough Tobago!
These large, high speed catamarans are incredible, and were a game changer in terms of transporting passengers and vehicles efficiently and comfortably, when they first appeared in the 1990's. And to think it began in the tiny populated Island paradise of Tasmania, and there are now Incat ferries operating in countries all over the world!

Wow great video. I have rode this ferry twice. I have a video on my channel riding it from Tobago to Trinidad last year.
Thank you🙏😊 I will check yours out!
I rode the ferry, and I will not be doing it again. I got seasick and it was bad. However, returning from Tobago to Trinidad was not too bad.
Oh no, sorry to hear...not pleasant at all being seasick!!
i prefer boats than planes
Wow beautiful cockpit
Yes, it was amazing!!
The apt james was way better but all boats are great in my opinion
I may be biased but personally I like the external look of the Buccoo Reef more, however from my observations the APT James has a better quality of finish🤔 But like you say both a great👌💪
Trinidad has years of experience running a ferry service. Why wouldnt they run ferry services throughout the Caribbean islands?
There needs to be demand
Good point, that would be awesome if they did!! I wonder if anyone has ever considered it and done the sums🧐
There is talk of doing a inter island ferry between Guyana, T&T & Barbados that's starting as soon as this summer.
The ferry service between Trinidad and Tobago is heavily subsidised by the Government of T&T while other ferries in other islands operate privately and at cost price if not profit. So money is the issue in other countries.
The ticket price between is Trinidad and Tobago is very reasonable👌😊
The small Island just off the coast of Venezuela is Patos Island...Patos Island was part of the former British colony of Trinidad and Tobago. On 26 February 1942, the island became part of Venezuela in exchange for Soldado Rock to Trinidad and Tobago and was put under the administration of the Ministerio del Interior y de Justicia (Ministry of Interior and Justice) as part of the Dependencias Federales.
Very interesting, thanks for the insight🙏🏻😊
Love these vessels. Have travelled to the Channel Islands and France many times on InCat vessels. Condor replaced the UK Channel islands route with an Austal built design, not as good as the InCat originals
Cool, they are amazing vessels, I lived in Hobart for 30+ years, and actually saw Buccoo Reef leave for Trinidad😊
Those interested in going with the fast ferry, please ensure you have meds to suppress nausea or motion sickness.
Good advice, the motion of the ferry when there is swell would definitely make some people nauseous👍😊
Please do a video on APT James
I’ll certainly consider it, if I’m able to while still here😊
Why would you like to see one on the APT JAMES?
@bruce3077 Different design, different manufacturer I suppose...
Yes, they are quite different. Personally I prefer the look of the Incat built (Buccoo Reef) vessels, but the Austal built (APT James) vessels are possibly finished off to a higher level!
@bruce3077 agreed on the finish etc..but strange enough Incat is going the way of Austal with some new offerings I saw recently.. although their design on the Bucco Reef etc still looks state of the art, revolutionary and timeless it's been around for quite a while now..
Have been travelling on the them.since they first came to T&T as the leased Cat and Lynx in the late 90s and then our own T&T Express and T&T Spirit in the early 2000s with national colors were things of pride and ever since we've demanded nothing less !! 😀
Oh how thrilled I was when they procured the BR and APT !! No one builds ferries like the Aussies !!
Totally 👌😁
14:16 Brasileiros: 😏😏😏🤪
L👀Ks like an InCat from Hobart, Australia.. 🇦🇺
That’s exactly what it is👌😊
There is Austal in Pensacola Florida also
Cool, they are all over the world now, which is quite impressive!
Very informative great video 😊
Thank you, I appreciate the feed back🙏🏻😁
I love this ship
It is an incredible bit of technology!!
Excellent video
Thank you very much🙏🏻🙂
Great video Bruce 👍
Thanks Henrik, glad you enjoyed it🙏🏻😊
