Materials in this video:
Acidfree cardboard 490g - link to supplier above.
Watercolour: I use all kind of artist's watercolour, but in this video:
Winsor&Newton: Antwerp Blue, Burnt Umber. Lucas: Ivory Black
The yellow in the sky is W&N: Quinacridone Gold.
Brushes: Goat hair models 2.5” and watercolour paintbrush no. 24.
Dear Lena - I am so drawn to your incredibly beautiful watercolours and have watched all 5 - now 6 - of your videos scores of times and studied your technique. You make it look so effortless and easy which invariably means there's a master at work. Thank you all the way from Aoteaeoa/ New Zealand for sharing your work and for inspiring an aspiring hobby artist who may be more passionate and dedicated than she is actually capable but at 54 I am a late starter! One last request - can you please keep making more posts. You and your artistry are amazing.
Thank you very much Sharon. I am happy that you like my videos! All my best wishes here from Copenhagen. And the just start - better today than tomorrow!!
I like the way you just throw the tape away.
That was my favourite part -- the throwing of the tape!! Well, other than the painting. omg she's incredible. The textures she achieves are truly awesome...in the true sense of the word.
Yep! me too because you find the same bold and assertive movement in the painting
Fascinating
Que payasada es esa??
Is piyasada the paper?? Then I non't know what it is called - neither in Spanish nor English!
Tossing the tape in the beginning cracked me up😆. Love these videos
Dear Lena - I am so impressed with your paintings and amazing technique. You use incredible colors. Fantastic work!!!
Hey! ... what a magic credit-card you have! ;-) ... I see 'high skills' when you work ... there is space for the 'unexpected' ... it goes that way 'less is more' ... you have a clear focused instinct in your working ... your results are unique ... GREAT! ... SALUT from Austria!
Thank you very much and my best wishes for you here from Copenhagen.
Absolutely amazing! So gifted!
Thank you Kathy!
Just love the spontaneous way you paint Lena, the passion, your heart and soul that you put into every one of these stunning creations shines through, blown away and mesmerized by your technique..
Thank you Maxine!!
Super
wow, I love your work - thank you for sharing all your techniques you are an inspiration. thankyou
Fantastic
Super !
Just found your direction. Acid free cardboard.
Lovely work
Thank you Lena for sharing, I love your watercolour style very much...🕊 💕 💕 💕
Love your work! The results are stunning!! Is this cardboard you are working on acid free mounting board or another type of board? I have not seen anything like this description in the US. We have 300 and 600 CP watercolor paper, such as Arches, which might be sturdy enough for all that water in your technique.
Thank you Pamela. It is not watercolour paper. I don't know what it is called in other countries than Denmark. The supplier had written a lot of details in hope, that it could help other people abroad.
It's cardboard according to the description box. I've tried Arches and the results arent the same.
Prachtig
Beautiful painting. You have talent. I learned very much. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Hagru! Just continue to paint!!
I've tried this, sometimes I get a good picture sometimes it's rubbish! Lol! Thanks for sharing your technique.
Thank you to you too Jilly! The same here!
So beautiful!!!!!!
superrrrr
That's darn good amazing!!!! Thank for showing a more raw watercolor World, had never seen these Technics!
Thank you Julia!!
Einfach nur wunderschön, Deine Bilder ! 🎨🤝👍🙏
Danke vielmals!
Wow!!
Did she just huck that tape lol
You are so inspiring. Beautiful. Warm wishes from Minnesota! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you from Copenhagen.
I love your fling of the masking tape.
Love your atmospheric landscapes, do you use water in a spray bottle?
Brilliant! I love your work, Lena. Just a comment, since watercolours dry much lighter, it would be great to see the finished piece in its dry state. Just a thought.
Thank you - good idea!
What sort of paper is it that scrapes back to white? I have seen you reference clay coated paper previously but I don’t find that available at Blick or online. The link shared goes to a non-english site for the cardboard. Thank you for sharing your art and techniques, truly inspiring and lovely color choices!
It is a kind of cardboard not made for watercolour painting at all. In Danish we call it chalked paper because it is cover with a thin layer of chalk. And I gave you the link to the Danish firm where I buy it. They write only in Danish.
Wow! such simplicity with dramatic effect.
❤
Thank you for another interesting, informative, and exciting video. It's a pleasure to watch your skilful and masterful approach to producing such truly amazing artwork. Much appreciated. Thank you, Lena. :)
Thank you to you too!
Thank you Lena. Marvelous work! I am intrigued by the green painting behind you in the beginning of the video. I would love to see you do one like this for us.
Thank you. The green painting is 110 cm long. I only put it there to make the video more quiet. There is a painting behind, that one of my friends has made.
What size and fibre/hair type is in the large mottler brush you use to wet the paper initially? Ah sorry just saw description. Is it goat hair. looks like a 4 inch?
It is only 2 1/2" but I often use one bigger 4". They are made of goat hair because it holds a lot of water. I bought them in a shop in Berlin.
Magne tak, Lena from North Carolia, USA!
Selv tak her fra København!!
Another beautiful painting - I love watching you play and create amazing, atmospheric landscapes by letting the watercolor flow! You make it look so easy, but I tried it, and it‘s not easy at all - but fun!
Rear Eva. I have been painting this way since 1990. You just have to keep on working and you shall paint great watercolours. Have fun!!
Hello Lena. Your work is very creative and very special. I was wondering if you ever speak to give an introduction as to what type of landscape you would be preparing to do. Can you show more clearly how you manipulate the colours across the page. I have been painting for 20 years and have never had as beautiful affects as you get. Thank you for sharing your demonstrations. I just joined your subscription and can appreciate your hard wrk and all your expertise. Elaine Mandell in Toronto, Ontario Canada
Elaine Mandell Thank you Elaine.
The answer is water water water water lots of water! I don't know how to describe what I'm doing I find it more easy for others to see it instead.
Lena Gemzøe thank you
Se linket lige under videoen.
Es pintura acrílica ?
Me encanta, tus trabajos 🤗👏👏👏
No acuarela! Gracias!
MOLTO BELLO!
GRACIA ALBERTO!
Lena, you should sell your cardboard to people in the US. I bet a lot of people would buy hoping for your results lol, but I know it is more your talent than the paper.
Thank you Lisa. I cannot imagine, that the paper isn't sold in US, but where?
Your watercolor is so beautiful
Have passion
Thank you!
First time viewing your landscapes amazing
Thank you Hilary for watching!
It’s amazing 🤩
Amazing Lena ..... Can I ask what paper do you use?
Of course!! I have written it right under the video - click: Show more.
Sorry that I doubted you a few too many times in your process. The end result is superb!!!
Thank you Stephanie!
So beautiful I love watching thank you for sharing.
Thank you Tina even that my answer is so late!
Wow!!! So excited to see a new video. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇨🇦
Thank you Kascia!
Lena, Happy New Year! Thank you for posting another video of you working. Everything you create is beautiful. Because I've tried your techniques, I know how difficult it is to work in this way. You are an inspiration. Now I'm going to watch the video again.
Thank you Kathy. Just keep on trying and you shall succeed!
Fantastic and dramatic iced landscape! Bellissimo! Greetings from Firenze
Nice to meet you. I like Koreans.

Thank you to you too Shernya!
Dear Lena thanks for the video. I watch you from Toronto Canada. I see people from all over the world watch your demonstrations. You are indeed an inspiration for all of us.
Thank you very much Violetta.
Dang, you almost hit me in the face when you threw that roll of tape!
Lucky you that I did not!
GREAT...!!! Lena...as always...👏🎶📽️🖋️📖🖌️🎨
Thank you!
@@lenagemze662
Tak for dit svar.
Merci beaucoup Danielle!
Get that tape out of here! It's done its job! 😃
Good talent painting artist kedar k

Thank you Ray!
Wow fantastic 🤩
Maravillous
Ha,I liked it before the scraping
It's good with likings - thank you!
Fantastic 👍.
Hey, why are you throwing the tape. It's not cool at all.
It's often in the way on the table.... Thank's for watching.
This was awesome. I hope we see more videos from you. Thank you!
Thank you to you too Frank!
Does throwing the tape create good luck? :-)
How do I know! But then it's not making trouble on the table.
Beautiful art.
Ja Lene, jeg ser dig i Chile. Tusind tak...
Hej Maria.
❤
You are fearless!
Wonderful! Want to see more! :)
Nice to meet you. I like Koreans.
Nice to meet you
wow beautiful! Is that on Yupo paper?
Thank you. No, it is not Yupo. If you click the link, there is a description, but I don't know what it is called in other countries. But Yupo is worth trying out I guess!
Very nice :)
A joy to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the inspiration and the joy of watching you create such beauty. Glad I found your site.
Thank you to you too!
Wonderful technique.... I'm not familiar with acid free cardboard for watercolor painting. I can only find acid free cardboard frames (mat boards for framing art) on Amazon and other North America sites, especially that large size. Does anyone know if this the same as cardstock (less porous than watercolor paper)??
Thank you. Many have written to me, that Yupo might be a good substitute for my cardboard. But I have not tried Yupo and I think it is much more expensive!
.
I'm inspired by the beautiful way you allow the paint to flow......with your magical ability to direct and control it. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you for watching, and good luck with your work!
wow
Beautiful You have a very special exciting method I have to try it and achieve
Thank you Shriley. Hope you tried it!
@@lenagemze662 I dud try once need a bit more practice which is fun!
@@ShrileyRosin Please keep on trying and working - and have fun!!!
Hi Lena, I love your work, I notice in most of your video's that you have 2 containers are they both water, or do you use some other medium.
Thank you Denise. One is usually with dirty water. It enables me to se where I put the water on the paper. The other one is always with clean water. If you i.e. use yellow, the water must be completely clean!
@@lenagemze662 Thanks Lena, keep making the video's they are great to watch.
@@denisemurray8279 Thank you Denise.
Hi Lena loving your videos! Tell me, do you ever do one that just doesn’t go right!
Do you have a subject/theme in mind before you start a painting? Love the effects you get with these techniques!
Always, but it is not so at all that I succeed every time.
Good question I've wonder that myself.
What type of paper is being used?
It is acidfree cardboard either 470g or 770 - there is a link to the shop right under the video. Maybe the description there can help you find it. Else you can get it in all common paper stores or artstores.
Hi, I'm Adil Mubeen from Kashmir and I liked this video specially the technique, the way you are doing water colour paintings , fantastic work of art. Thank you very much for providing us such a wonderful video. God bless you.
Dear Adil. Thank you for your nice words! And bless you too. Lena from Copenhagen.
Magnifique
Why do you throw the tape that is not impressive.
It's because it is in the way and also gets wet, when it's on the table.
