I dont think people realise how great a guitarist this little man is
I SURE DO ! HOLLY CRAP THIS GUY GIVES ME SO MANY GOOSE BUMPS I CAN'T STAND UP ! !
No matter what you think about the band, this guy is a fantastic guitarist
JustaFilthyCasual in terms of coming up with his own unique stuff no. But he plays AMAZINGLY WELL.
Bryanstevens87 Poor technique though and only pentatonic scaling.
No matter what you think about the band, this is a fantastic band.
Hilbert Kuipers he PLAYS flawlessly, fast, and smooth. That’s what makes him SOUND good. Anybody can honestly sound and play like him
Bryanstevens87 Don’t agree. It’s a great band as a collective, don’t get me wrong but as a guitarplayer my opinion is he’s just limited, stiff and sloppy. I love comparable (stylewise) guitarists like Page or Frehley but although they’re technically outdated compared to guys like Bettencourt, Gilbert, Bumblefoot or Petrucci or even some guys on UA-cam, this guy will never be at that level if he doesn’t improve his abilities. His pickhand is grating the strings and his frethand is rigid. If you look at it that way, yes, then his playing sounds amazingly well.
This man with a bucket hat , a 61' Gibson SG is adorable
That is Jake kiszka my good person 😅
I thought it was a fishing hat lol like the kind old men wear to fish in
why the hell is everyone criticizing his outfit? this interview is about his gear, not what clothes he’s wearing.
Silly hats lol
The Rock community needs to support not bash these poor kids
When they play that terribly and their songs are that derivative (complete rip offs) it's really not okay and they should definitely be supported TO CHANGE, to do something of their own, but they shouldn't be supported through what they've done so far... Just my opinion
metalmulisha0143 Zeppelin were king of ripoffs bro.
@@prometheustv6558 a super common argument against Led Zep, although completely naive and shortsighted.
Led Zep ripped off blues artists but made them darker and heavier, paving the way for metal and hard rock. They pushed the music they were inspired by into new territories.
In the studio, they were at the forefront of the latest technology of the time. They experimented with recording techniques which gave birth to iconic sounds like the reverb on the drums to Battle of Evermore.
And Led Zeppelin were far from the only British bands to be inspired by American Blues at the time, everyone from The Stones to Clapton and Jeff Beck were "ripping off" blues artists.
Once they do original music maybe
They’ll get my support when they come up with something that wasn’t done 50 years ago.
It’s crazy how he nails the shortcomings/nuances of the players of the time. He’s just kind of hacking’ away at the playing and it makes it so authentic.
Such a kick ass band and guitarist let alone! Saw them live in Seattle and the place went crazy for them
Jake is an amazing guitarist at a young age. I can't wait for thief next album!
@Cire Rednulk Bait if I've ever seen it
@Cire Rednulk 👌
Greta Van Fleet is excellent. There's no way around that, and trying to prove otherwise is a fool's errand.
I hope they get in to more of this classic bluesy sound on some of their new work. Comes naturally to them and clearly their fans are dying for it. Keep jammin.
Notes speak louder than words.....plug in and let it rip already!aaah Cross roads sounds amazing .kid can whale.
greta van fleet are a collection of some of the greatest musicians of all time. the kiska genetics must be unreal
Leave the kids alone, as some bassist used to say. They are doing their thing and they are good at it.
im crying i remember watching these videos in 2019 n i forgot how funny this guys stance is
God damn he looks sped up like watch his hands...I’m completely aware that he’s not he’s just an incredible guitarist but it almost freaky watching that
Haters need to step off in these comments... Why you hating on these kids’ band? Because they got popular, even though you think their skills are eh? Go watch a different video to hate on, in the music community we’d rather have love and support. I like them, despite not adoring every track, but I SUPPORT their ambition and goal to play rock n roll.
Just as you have the right to love them and express your opinion, others have the right to dislike them and express their opinion.....DUH!!
You need to deal with a differing opinion, asshole.
@@tomfoolery342 Except a lot of these comments are not an opinion but rude ignorant statements. Who the hell wastes their time spewing hate and ignorance on a band they obviously don't like or respect. It would never occur to me to even watch the video if I felt that way. Awesome group of young men , they rock and will go far, they are working hard for that. By the way they are not on drugs just quirky, music flows through all of them . Peace to you all.
Thank you for this video. Love it!!🎤🎸🎵🥁
Great guitarrist!! Amazing guitar!!young blood rock n roll.old schooll .
True fans of Zeppelin should appreciate this band for bringing it back with such authenticity
They invented glue after '61. Just saying.
4000 BCE
Little trivia for ya les paul himself hated this guitar and wanted his name off of it
too bad it remained
@@billwren5033 it remained for two more years only because of the stock of nameplates they already had
and i'm actually pretty sure people still referred to it as the Les Paul in passing in the years following until they brought the real one back in '68
Well thats debatable. He even owned and Played SGs (a white and a red standard)
Its been rumoured, that his contract with Gibson was running out. Plus he and Mary ford divorced in 1964 i believe, that might be why he had his Name removed, so Mary wouldnt get more money from the divorce…
It was also Mary Fords favourite Guitar, so that might be why he hated it, who knows
Its all Pie in the sky, but a great guitar nonetheless
I know everyone dogs these guys but I give them credit that they listened to everyone about how much they sounded like Zeppelin and changed enough for their first full album to have their own sound. They still have a LOT of zeppelin influence but at least they found their own groove eventually.
Personally if I was in a band and they were comparing us to Led Zeppelin speaking as a Zeppelin fan from the early 70s. I would I'd be thrilled out of my damn mind and I just keep doing what I was doing that's like saying she's pretty good but I don't know you reminds me too much of Jesus Christ I mean really if they're comparing you with Led Zeppelin you doing something right not wrong it's nice to find your own way and have your own sound but if somebody's going to compare you to something acceptance a good start
The words "Found" and "Eventually" are used in the wrong tense in that last sentence. :)
Hey. I wonder what the electrical piece does? *In schoolbus driver Otto voice*
ha ha - yea the electric piece of plastic (bakelite//catalin) with the screws.
Everyone knows this holds the flux capacitator in place.
That's what gives it the great sound, dontchaknow?
Plays led Zeppelin style riffs with an Angus young guitar.. I mean that's pretty awesome..
Crossroads = Clapton mate
@@missdanni1947 yep and Jimmy paige also played sg's sometime 😂
sg Gibson*
1961 Gibson Angus Young Standard 💩🔥
how the hell can you thumbs down this video???
jealousy that's how
Perfect guitar to take on tour.
Remember kids, always take your most expensive guitar on tour!
One day I will own a Gibson.
One day I will live on a space station in zero g.
All about the feel
Now THAT is a relic guitar. 60 years of being played, not 60 minutes of sandpaper. I’m sure Gibson would fix that crack for him.
Get some Elmer's carpenter's glue and bond it back together.
1960 was the last year PAF's were made. BUT, earlier made PAF's DO appear in '61 Gibson made electrics, but are old stock. Great guitar, hope he gets it fixed. Check to see if there are PAF decals on the pickups while you're at it. '62-'64 were Patent pickups, not PAF's, but even some of them had double black leads off the coils and were actually earlier PAF's but with Patent decals on them.
coolest version of crossroads ever
Gibson made that version of pickup for 5 years. They just changed the decal after 2-3 years but they sound the same.
He's got a very good blues rock tone ngl
Piece of cake lol
Amazing
I have a limited edition 2016 Gibson SG Black . W / floating Floyd rose !
Sounds beautiful
That Kid is amazing!!!
I’ve noticed this, a lot of the people that don’t like them, are guys mad that someone of their age is getting so popular because their bands aren’t going anywhere
Or that they copied one band then acted like they've never heard of Led Zeppelin
Damn Jake - u big sweet piece of rock n roll candy
Really cool
Cream - Crossroads
Starts interview:
*COUGHS DIRECTLY INTO HIS HAND*
Though interview is more than 2 years ago, it is not very good behave.
Jac Kar - well you gotta remember that pre- Coronavirus it wasn’t polite if you coughed and let it out, you had to cover your mouth when you cough. Nowadays it’s different in that you have to cough into your arms.
I'd like to hear how he came into possession of that, and the whole backstory.
it was given to him.
At the age of 12, he went to a music store in Flint w/ his dad. Played & fell in love w/ it. Was given it @Christmas that year.
Can you play anything? *channels inner Jimmy Paige
Beautiful guitar!
Was wondering where these guy's have been !
Kent Beery this is an old interview btw
This is an old interview. I think their 15 minutes of fame is gone.
Oni das Alagoas no ?
It’s several years old, there’s a longer version that includes sam the bass player too
That thing sounds great!
Dude's Corona-ing out over there! Cough! Cough! Sniffle, cough!!
he probably just smoked
This is an old interview. Pre-Corona. And it’s a 2% death rate. Calm yourself
Don't talk shit about him... he's getting interviewed and we're not!!!...
The more I listen the more I like this band yes they are heavily influenced by zep that's no bad thing but they are all excellent musicians.
Was that a Corona cough. The interview would have been over lol.
Original, full-length Rig Rundown was published in February 2018 so no COVID-cough worries.
@@premierguitar I figured it was but he walked into that one, I mean coughed into that one lol

@@KristianaCembre what's your deal

People hate on these guys so much. Shut up. If your band was that good you good have a record deal too.
Right, I don’t understand why they click on the video to scroll down and comment some bashful rude shit.. you have a choice, not too click if you don’t like them 😭
Faith no more's bassist had a bass with a split body that was barely hanging with duct tape too.
Literally nobody: Led Zeppelin is the best band of 2020!
Greta Van Fleet: We need to jump on this trend.
wasn't this up before?
Yes, it's old
We're going back through our Rig Rundowns and picking out our favorite clips and reposting them. Some people aren't keen on watching a 30-minute video, but a more digestible snippet on a certain topic brings a bigger audience, and in result, hopefully engages with them enough that they check out the full video. (Full transparency: we got the idea from JRE Clips - Joe Rogan's subsidiary channel - and others that re-use their content to engage new/bigger audience.) Thanks for your feedback and support ... Gibson leSG Paul
i love him.... ;O))
And here I freak out when I get a little ding on my $400 RG…
Actually Gibson started using Seth Lover's Patent applied for /P.A.F. pickups in late 56 on the Les Paul's and these pickups were manufactured until 62 so 2 years is inaccurate.. Still its a great guitar and built when Gibson was creating works of art..
I also thought that at first, but later realized that he was probably referring to its use in the SG Les Paul, which would make his statement accurate. Pickups aside, I had the privilege of owning a '61 SG back in the day, and was actually most impressed by the way the neck felt-wide and slim.
Is that Wiley Wiggens from Dazed and Confused..
“ItS nOt a lEs PaUL iTs a sG”
This was the replacement for the Les Paul and was called Les Paul. They reintroduced the LP as we know it and kept this, renamed the SG
Vista Vette I know that, I was mocking everyone who kept saying it’s not a Les Paul.
This video isn't 2 days old
YEEEEEAAAHHHH
Title: les paul
Thumbnail and video: sg
Nice
At first the SG was supposed to be a Les Paul but Les Paul hated it.
Wow
I sense some beef going on
I have the same guitar but Gibson decided to put a Bigsby on the example I own...
Does his big sister dress him?
wtf are you the fashion police? you people must have very boring lives.
i want one of those real bad
Yes because if your guitar is not Made in 1961 you can not be a good guitar player and write good songs
Did he say that they only made PAF’s for 2 years!? 😂 JB was biting his tongue not to correct him on camera LOL
56 to 62?
Did Jake mean two years in the SG model?
@@lukegalvan3093 since they only made the sg from 60 that's 2 years?
This full interview is amazing as it shows how skilled John is as an interviewer. Jake seems to have no idea how accomplished of a guitarist John is and talks to him like he has no idea about the history of guitars. Little does he know....Jake, research a bit on who's interviewing you ;)
How are you supposed to know anything about the interviewer beforehand? Not every guitarplayer is a PG reader ;^)
versnellingspookie Every guitar player, especially on a professional level knows Guitar Player Magazine. And should know who’s coming to interview you.
The Les Paul's little sister is a great guitar
Muito bom!
what guitar strap is jake using?
How did he get his hands on that?
The sg/les paul really cuts through a mix. Its light and wont send you to a chiropractor like the original. Great playing. I'd be nervous taking out myself but if you're at this level with security and crew should be fine. Just dont leave it unattended at a bar gig!
Este é o Jimmy page?
Without band it has sloppiness of Page but with band it sound Great.
I'm shocked at all the idiots on here calling this an SG. It is a Les Paul and from 61 to 63 it was the only Les Paul. I have a 62 with the Maestro Vibrola that I have owned since 62 (a Christmas present from my dad) and it says "Les Paul" on the plate over the truss rod cover.
61 SG Price tag $$$$$ but you can’t get repaired?
Eric Menefee he had it sent to him, he didn’t pay for it. This was a while ago and he has a brand new 61’ sg
It's the guitar from his manager
Really?
-JB
He looks like he buys his clothes at a flea market.
He does
So cool
Why does the neck seem longer
3:23 oh
Me: Can I get Jimmy Page?
Mom: We have Jimmy Page at home
Jimmy Page at home:
I think they’re a great band. The only people who get pissed about them are usually dudes that arent making it in the music biz themselves, or dudes who are not getting laid on a daily basis by the hottest chicks around the world. 😂
Glue
"Sloppy isn't"? Depends on what you consider sloppy.
Where’s the Bletchley?
The Bletchley Belchfire 45 was present on all recording sessions. Jake added a Belchfire 45 to his live rig the second week of January 2018 (about 2 weeks after this rig rundown was shot). Over time, small alterations were made to the circuitry at Jake's request, and eventually a second Belchfire 45 was added as a backup. The head drives the white 4x12 cab seen in this video, although it's mic'ed-up & aiming backwards behind the forward-facing 4x12's (which are not used).
Original PAF! So cool and sexy. GVF, Please come to Moscow, Russia 🇷🇺!
relax dude they hate Russian
Idk people love change or they don't.. we love to be gatekeepers of "the good old days" and bash new things that represents the old, as if it's an insult.. It's more of a homage to those "good old days", if anything
Toca como Cintya Black Cat 😂😂😂😂
His Gibson Les Paul?
The sg was called
The Les Paul initially
Looks like he uses 12’s!
that is a big string for that guitar
Cleartone .10 - .46
Come on kid, crack doesn't only happen on this model. This is Gibson we're talking about.
is this kid a guitar tech for led zepplin?
There is no reason for this. Guitars are as repairable as any other wood object...wood glue and a vice in the hands of a luthier....
Could be wrong but I swear he Said it happened just last night. Guessing it will get fixed as soon as he can get it to a Luthier
Now I won't feel guilty to put a vibrostop on mine cuz tuning is so garbage 😂
