this might sound very noob of me lol but that L lighting technique is so cool I need to try that. The overhead really makes a difference for a look you dont see as often. need to try
I agree avoid having your subject wear shirts or anything with patterns because not all cameras can deal with them. Also, with the subject in the center of the frame suggests the person is in a position of authority and may be the main focus. I also consider the rule of thirds when framing shots. One thing many forget to do is add some negative fill. Maybe get a black moving blanket or black backdrop and place it to one side of the subject to add shape to the face. You can be less or more dramatic depending on the type of shoot by playing around with the position of the neg in relation to your subject. BTW, loved the sock on the zoom recorder! I use the H6 and love it.
Agreed! Neg fill can be a huge advantage and add a lot more shape to your subject, don't think we used it too much here, but it can defintely help achieve a bit more contrast and shadows on the face 😁
Typically I'll stick with a 35mm or 50mm for the main A angle, and an 85mm for the B angle, or a 50mm if I'm using a 35mm on the A. Type of lens just depends on the overall creative direction of the project and what I think would look best for the style.
Nice tips! I am new to your channel, but this video made me subscribe. Keep up the good work. It is a bit weird to hold an audio recorder in the hand the whole time, but the sound quality is good, so whatever. :)
Great video, thanks for sharing your lighting breakdowns. I have a question that I hope you take the time to answer. I also own an ursa mini pro 4.6k (g1 version) How did you get the 2:35.1 aspect ratio using a 2x atlas anamorphic lens? Wouldn’t that lens paired with the ursa’s 16x9 sensor give you more black bars and thinner image? What were your camera settings to achieve that? Thanks 🙏🙏🙏

Loved the lighting, just thought it would be nicer if you would lower the camera angle little bit, so it wouldn’t feel cropped
Love the content!! Keep it up!
Thanks so much man!!

Yo that's a sock. Respect.

What lenses do you typically use for interviews?

I only have one question: Does it smell ? Because, it looks a bit dirty on the top right corner and I've been thinking about that all along.

Haha thanks man! Yeah it's a little odd, ur right, I think I'm gonna make it a thing tho, people seem to like the sock apparently
Put a sock in it already. Love that.
tuned out after the first 10 seconds when I saw the dirty sock on the mic
Hahah
Yo, I can smell that sock from here. Other than that... cool video.
