Once you get the wave beam, it's seemingly meant for this game. There's a goomba encased by row walls which teaches you to use the wave beam and now you don't have to crouch to beat those pesky 1-tile high enemies! Which makes progressing easier which is a huge thing in all metroidvanias.
Too bad that they didn't add the Plasma Beam for the Game, because wave beam would make it much easier, but Plasma Beam pieces through enemies, too bad that it only appeared later in Return of Samus

All my Mario instincts say to jump on the enemies, but my Metroid instincts tell me not to but the Mario instincts are winning

I love how the player finds an Ice Beam, pauses in contemplation, and then leaves it behind like, “Nah, I’m good.” 🤣

I played this earlier today. how do you get the Ice Beam? every time I get the mushrooms, I always get the Wave Beam, even tho I already have it.
Carlos Manzanares Go to Settings - Weapons - Samus and select Ice Beam.... it’s not as good but fun to mess around with.
