This week's video is a little longer. Let me know if you like the extended format. Also, feel free to share some of your mistakes below, so maybe we can avoid the same ones in the future.
Saw this Video this morning on the Patreon page:-) Fist of: I was delighted when I saw it was 20+ minutes long. So - yes. please! extended format is very much appreciated. By far the best running UA-cam content there is. so authentic and "from our world". Good to see you and your family are doing fine. THANKS: Cheers from Berlin Germany :-) 🇩🇪 Jan
We learn the most from mistakes. I try to learn from other people's mistakes, but definitely made plenty of these mistakes too. Some multiple times, especially #1, #2, #4, #5, and #7. Lessons for all of us
I enjoyed this one. I have made some of those mistakes. Underfueling - check (not enough electrolytes), pushing too hard - check, not consistent - check (but typically due to injuries). One thing I do is look at workouts with rose colored glasses - picture myself flying through track work or tempo work. And when the reality hits, I get mad at myself for not being amazing enough. Maybe a little ego as well right there. All right, enough fun, I have to get the vacuuming and dusting done before dinner.
@@CjayeMedia no problem pal. We all appreciate how much effort goes into these videos. Know we all love and appreciate the content, all the best with your training
Great Vid Chris! Lots of great learning experiences that will help me in future training seasons! One mistake is not doing Strength sessions to supplement training, it is a great way tool to prevent injuries.
I completely agree. I’ve cut back on a lot of my strength training because I am trying to reduce my size, but in general triathletes don’t do enough strength training.
Lots of great advice! Thanks for sharing. The only thing I would disagree with is regarding nutrition during training. What I’ve learned is for shorter session (less than 1 to 1.5 hours) it’s better to only have water. If we train our body to use fat as fuel rather than depend on constant fueling, when race day comes and we use fuels they will be even more effective in providing an added boost.
Good point. Most of my sessions now days aren’t less than two hours because I’ve got multiple disciplines back to back so if I start empty or late I end up feeling like I’m running low on energy and trying to play catch up.
Awesome channel and love this video. Keep it up. This is great motivation. Just wish I could live in your area where I had sun year-round. I’m from the Seattle area. I get the liquid sunshine.
.....well....might sound strange......when the smoke of the BBQ got into your face.....for the first time in a very very long time, you looked happy.....keep on doing what you are doing, life is good
Great video Chris. Your last mistake is similar to me, very much an 'all or nothing' guy. But when you spoke about your weight, what happened to the nutritionist that you were working with? She got you motivated and your weight was going down easily?
Getting to the swim start was annoying because you had to walk a mile and stand in a huge line because the entrance was super small, but I’ve been told that it’s changing this year. The river was quite low in the beginning, but a super fast swim. The bike course was really nice. I would make sure you spend some time on some rolling hills. I was surprised at how hilly it was based on the description being flat. The run wasn’t bad. A lot of it was on trails through a park. Fairly flat but passing people was also a little annoying because you were basically running in tire tracks and had to go up a little bit in the middle on grass and weeds in order to get around people. I hear they’re also changing the run course, but the maps have not been updated. Overall I really enjoyed the race and can’t wait to do it again this year.
First off, yes I love the longer video!! Secondly I have a question. In this video you start off the video by smoking a brisket, but if you are donating everything you make off your channel to help the planet, then why are you not a plant based athlete? Just curious, I know you have played around with your diet before.
I do eat a high percentage of plant based foods, but very few people in my daily life are plant based. Since I typically eat dinner with family/friends in the evening I will typically have meat or fish then.
@@CjayeMedia thanks for the reply! We are currently living in Louisiana so I get it when you say no one in your life is plant based. Lol But , for me and where I live, I try to use that as an outlet to be an influence in other peoples life’s by showing them a different way of eating, that’s healthier and more sustainable for our environment/planet. I just find it contradictory that you donate money to organizations that help the plant, but you then donate money to the dairy industry when you buy meat from the store, which hurts the planet. Just my opinion, I’m not trying to be rude or disrespectful.
I understand your opinion. Life is a balance for me. I have very good vegan friends. My coach is vegan. I don’t feel it has to be all or nothing, but I guess I could stop donating to protect the planet and use the money for new gear :).

Love it. Longer video’s make my break longer.. keep it up! 😎

Thank you! The weather is great here in SoCal, but you have some beautiful trails and lakes up your way.
I do prefer the extended format
Thanks David!

I’ve learnt not to do a video to camera whilst sat next to a bbq🤣🤣
Hahaha

I’m still working with her and following the plan. I just slacked off during the holidays skiing and partaking to much. I’m down 10lbs.
Just thought. Wouldn’t it be better to get a second bike so you don’t have to keep on dismantling your bike when you want to go outside for a ride?
For sure!
Liking the longer videos! Maybe too personal a question (apologies if so) but how come we never see your wife anymore?
Not really a fan of the camera :)
Fully understand. Thanks
Hey Bro, how was Oregon 70.3 course and what are recommending to have a good race.

@@CjayeMedia Thank you kindly for taking the time to detail th course, very useful & helpful, see you there!!
Tell me about not training after an event. My advice would be do some exercise or you’ll regret it when you want to get back into it
“Clean” porta potty…😂
Unlike race porta potties🤣
@@CjayeMedia Ha. Jokes aside....truly appreciate your videos. Very inspirational! I envy your productivity!
Was just going to say i never see you get a puncture on your rides, then you got a puncture
It’s been quite a while since I’ve gotten a flat tire. The gator skins are awesome but I hit something pretty hard
