- Since its introduction in 2001 the Nord Electro has been the natural choice for musicians in need of authentic emulations of classical electro mechanical and acoustic instruments in a portable and easy to use package.
With greatly expanded memory, the added ability to split and layer and a live focused program section, the new Nord Electro 5 is a highly refined, focused yet flexible stage keyboard.

3:13 I was so happy he didn't go for smoke on the water
@2:56 & @5:36 Wes Anderson directed that ZOOoomm!
hahaha
LOL underrated comment
I didn't know Indiana Neidell did narration gigs for Nord!! Good on him, good voice work here.
love the LED display!!!
Great sounds! Tolles Keyboard!
A very useful and understanding stuff!
Nord’s B3 organ sim has my personal favorite sound out of all of them
Factory-determined split points? BOO HISS!!!
I'm buying the nord 5 tomorrow to Accompany my lead 4 that I just bought
The previous sound cuts on selecting the next preset is a huge no no for me. Sorry Nord.
That's exactly what I was thinking! what a shame.. such a modern product and then you have this simple thing that make this whole product like you wanna cry :( that's a no for me!
I really need help deciding between the piano 3 and the electro !!
I am very very interested in one of these
Great job! ;)
Impressive indeed, but I've never like that fact that when you switch sounds like in that set demonstration the cut off is inevitably noticeable, that would leave a huge cut off in sound in a live performance, I wish they could just smoothly morph or transition one voice to another when switching sounds/banks etc.
That's the reason why I have a Korg Kronos and not a Nord product, even though I'd love to have at least one electro in my arsenal.
My Roland JV80 and JV1000 let's you switch patches smoothly....
DeanoPiano True... I think it's because in the electro, sounds come from diferent sources. let's say that when you change from a piano to a synth, you are turning off the piano engine, and tourning on the sample engine.
DeanoPiano I think part of that is the 'performance', too. There are things you can do musically to have that harsh transition be diminished that he didn't do.
My Casio SA 20 has smooth morph between patches.....Shame Nord
Por favor alguien que me ayude estoy por comprarme un piano no se si el nord electro 5 o el 6 cual me recomiendan
is it possible to sustain the last note/sound when changing the sound?
Can the Electro be controlled by another midi controller? For example if I have a 88 key midi controller that I would like to use when playing piano sounds.
Cool!
the combined decay/sustain/release knob is a coolidea, never seen that before. other than that i don't see much here that will convince me to update my electro 2.
theorgandude For me at least, i think it's really cool the extra memory, the drive efect and the layer and split. And the songlist-programing thing is not the big thing... but it make it a little more practical
+theorgandude Those are exactly my words :D Except I have electro 3 :D
It would be cool if sounds would not cut off when changing parts within a set. competitors seem to be able to do that
Inspiration for making the Nord Electro 5. Pretty much the nord electro 2.
When is this actually being released?? 4 months after NAMM and i've still yet to see one.
Would it have killed them to put the pitch knob/mod pumice Stone??
je cherche une demo officiel du clavier nord electro 5HP 73 en français, où puis-je la trouver
Is the voiceover Indy Naidel from the Great War UA-cam channel?
Nord ❤ Sonho de consumo ❤
large display? :) :)
and why is the memory so limited? its 2016, throw in a 2 terrabyte harddrive with sounds
They compress patches with their algorithm but their take is to have a stage keyboard that you can tweak on the fly. Nord also does not want to eat into the competition with the stage.
The keyboard hero strikes!!
They use a different sort of memory drive that's wayyyyyy more stable and less likely to fail over time. The downside is, it's a lot more expensive to produce. Hence less memory. Nords are really like tanks, you could almost throw them around :P
I doubt it until I will see which chip they do use and it's cost.
Jay D.... You mean an SSD?
No one needs to answer this but...
Why is the Electro getting more love (being updated) than the Stage and Piano keyboards?
Mario Marroquin Never mind... I just realized they Updated the Stage to Stage 2 EX. Which isn't a big update, but still, it's something. lol
why this keyboard is fucking expensive
+Cyber Forest Because it's fucking good
I got it 1000$ off from musicians friend
+Cyber Forest because its the best shit ever
it's a good thing you didn't live in the 70s or 80s when synths cost almost as much as a new car.
Cyber Forest Right, to expensive, i stick to Yamaha
Still looking for that red keyboard stand, can anyone help?
Ryan Hernandez For me in Germany, stores offer it. It's just a Nord stand, I think you should be able to find it! ^^
EDIT: "Nowsonic Nord XStand", to be precise!
Nord Electro 6 HP $57,999
Nord Stage Piano 6 $199,999
Nord Lead 6 $4,888,749
Nord Electro 6D $5,646,124,999
Brian Bernstein and those are the SALES prices
Anyone know where I can find that red keyboard stand?
Home Depot aisle 3
the best keybord dreaws
Which expression pedal is used in this demo?
+Matthis Meyer Looks like Boss FV-500L to me :)
Please, make wooden keys on NS3 at last!!
The Set List mode and the expanded memory are the only great improvements, I expected much more :(
I would not sale my 4D to get this
+Carlos Gallagher They didnt mention it in this video but the organ section and leslie have been updated to be the same spec as the C2D
Is there a transpose feature?
Matt Bretania yes, you can transpose the lower part and/or the upper part separately
Didn't know Jesus played keyboard.
bleve32 It's Dave Gilmour in the 60s ;-)
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven."
4:29 - Jesus praises Jesus
Seach Jesús molina on youtube
Hipster-Jesus that is....
Quite underwhelming indeed. I've been doing most of these things with my Roland stage piano from years ago. The sounds might make a difference, hopefully, but these things are surely nothing to brag about. Splitting the keyboard, isn't that something you're just supposed to have, or the possibility to have multiple sounds layered? The "large" OLED display was probably the funniest part, still.
what stand is that?
Nowsonic Nord XStand
The set list thing is a little disappointing, would be great to be able to advance to the next sound or song with a footswitch.
Steven Blum the new stage has it
Nice shoes :)
there's a song in the setlist called I'm Not Your Dad
Affordable ? Ya right
Plays keyboards by day, kills Zombies at night
korg kronoss superior ?
Keyboard sounds great. So many samples Well supported.
cons: heavey. 6 mins. to boot. Very steep learning curve. Sound libraries expensive and not transferable.
save money. get a casio px5s. and a yamaha moxf6. great combination. and you still have alot of money left for a good powered speaker.
+1 moxf6. I had the moxf8 and there's a lot you can do with it.
Jade Pascual 100% agree, Nord is overpriced
LOL at the 'large OLED display'. I've seen better displays on $100 drug store Android tablets.
Gideon Waxfarb to think display in any way impacts the quality of the keyboard is ignorant.
It does when you're visually impaired like me :P Plus, it's just comical that they call it a large display.
Ah I see, I apologise! Admittedly the display isn't the conventional 'large' haha
If you'd like to hear it in a track, I used Nord electro for rhodes and piano sounds in this song:
ua-cam.com/video/3Pt4xRCz1_c/v-deo.html
Intro song please!!??
I've had all the real musical instruments in that room at one time or another and ended up selling them all to fund my retirement investments.
4:26 Jesus?
Is it just me or does the narrator sound like the Mickey and Friend Tram voice at Disneyland?
No seamless transition? Not able to select split keyboard? is this a performance keyboard in 2017? LOL. I never use Nord products because they are overpriced. For half the price I would consider but there are other alternatives. Keyscape VST sounds SO much better especially in the EP department no problem glad to save you money
Large ⭕ led display....
The next one is getting 200 mb more of memory lol
I don't get the price of this keyboard. It's using dated tech "samples" and has only a fraction of the sounds other boards do better. Not to mention that interface screen? I've seen Casio's pushing a better look and this thing is above $2K????? Are you serious?
In this day and age you can't simply offer just 1GB of samples. This is why I moved away years ago. The korg kronos is in a similar price point and has over 60GB worth of sounds.
Maybe one day you'll get a decent piano sound.
Kronos is a workstation. Electro is a stage.
And that justifies 1GB worth of samples for the price?
***** It isnt a board that made for everybody to have.
Nord intentions is to have a board that is closer to an analog experience where sounds can be tweaked on the fly.
Apparently it is good enough for many top stage performers.
Im not endorsing them but i get what they're trying to do.
Also, they have an compression algorithm that allows for more room without loss....so 1GB could be two in this case.
I used to have a Nord Electro 3. The difference between the three and the five is hardly anything yet the price point is still unreasonably high.
The keys aren't weighted, the keyboard isn't heavy and the functionality hasn't changed a whole deal.
There have been major advancements made by Korg and Yamaha in terms of functionality and combinations of top quality sounding pianos with layers and patches.
Don't get me wrong, I've used these keyboards for many years and enjoy them. This is more a question of whether they are keeping up with their competitors.
Regardless of whether the experience is meant to be analog or not, at the end of the day the question remains. Is it competitive with what's coming out today at similar price points? The answer is no.
We're going to have to respectfully agree to disagree on this one.
***** Its more of an organ based but what I am saying is that I think Nord is more exclusive based vs competitive, not every body buys a Ferarri or a Lambo.
Also Nord is in a different eso system in terms of functionality, your still trying to compare apples to oranges.
Too expensive for that HORROR cut previous to change a sound. A BIG NO.
Meu krome é superior a isso!!!
not a good waterfall key, not a good drawbars section, not a good vintage sound (WHERE IS MY LEAKAGE?!?!) not a good price ;'(
I prefer using Numa organ 2 or Logic pro X vintage b3!
well i am french, so i don't know the exact translation but i feel that the keyboard is too "soft", it doesn't have a good key response... i use a Hammond XK1-C, and i think that the "XK serie" is the best organ clone i ever heard, and the best plug-in is Mainstage's Vintage B3... Actually the Nord Electro is not a bad product, but when you play Hammond products, other clones doesn't feel so realistic...
yeah, Nord keyboards are good ones!! but I tried them and i tried Hammond... i agree, you have to chose your keyboard in terms of your feeling!! i just wanted to say that if you usally play on real B3, Nord products are not the best... but if you want the REAL feeling of a b3, you can buy it for 9000€... ;(( thanks Hammond!! ;D
jesus come to play new electro 5 :D
So simple, even a caveman can play it.
I'll never understand how a light audio chip in a hard plastic shell can be worth thousands of dollars.
+Digital Ghost The amount of time that goes into creating those chips (and the software on them) * the possible market for a high-end keyboard emulator (a lot smaller than a general purpose synth)
+Adam Gilmore yeah no
that's why the nord is more expensive than the plastic consumer crap at walmart.
chieftp I'm sorry, what's why it's more expensive? You didn't give a single reason. And you really couldn't if you tried. Sure a lot of time goes into creating chips, but it's not a lot of time creating every single chip in every single keyboard. It's one master blueprint that they put on every chip, and that's not worth thousands of dollars.
*****
feel free to start your own company, hire people to develop and manufacture a product, build the buildings and equip them as necessary and let's see what you can sell your product for.
Questionable bridge imo
Sounds no longer so great against the competition, no wheel/stick, laughable display, memory - 1GB and 250mb is 1990's - my giveaway corporate USB sticks are 32GB. Oh and the price - fine for premium kit but I fear Nord are slipping well behind.
Agree, overpriced stuff, there are other stuff out there, cheaper and good performance
Please can you give me a couple of examples? Looking forward to buy an electric piano, thanks
Get Kontakt Lot cheaper you can thank me later.
+TSDREX I would go soft synth, but afraid of crashing live on stage.
+Mark Landes not if you have a decent Computer/laptop with decent amount of ram, Can get NYRV Systems agent vst which saves CPU aswell plus kontakt "nord stage 2" is lot cheaper but still sounds the same as the real thing
How much ram would I need working on a Mac? or do you recommend a windows laptop?
I suggest 16 GB of ram should be good enough, as kontakt library are more ram heavy when loading the samples for nord stage, More ram and a alright CPU will defo not make you crash if you check out Scan computers search them on google they seeling laptops with 16 of ram for £700 can go higher price but i think they go higher because of the graphics card but you can build your own laptop on thier website i think, and i don't recommend getting Macs they are over priced and last time used a mac it kept on freezing just with built in plugins on logic lol
Thank you for your help.
this sounds tinny and thin... (have you ever heard more fake sounding strings?) - oh, and by the way He has HORRIBLE trainers.
Nord is cool but to expensive, there are great stuff out there for less money
underwhelmed
