The final shell measures 1.44 m (4 ft 8.75 in) in diameter, made of over 82.07 km (51 mi) of 5.71 cm (2.25 in) gummed paper tape, wrapped in even layers by a machine built especially for this purpose. The completed shell is at least 17.78 cm (7 in) thick, and was filled with 380 individual comet fireworks. A giant mortar, 1.57 m (5 ft 2 in) in diameter and 7.92 m (26 ft) deep, had to be specially built to shoot off the giant firework.

want to see a video how they put all the stuff inside the big ball together. and why it flies do straight up!! and hoe long the developing takes for this 20 seconds.
Biggest firework I ever saw was from back in the 80's up in Everett Washington. Fired from a barge out in the bay it reached over 4000' altitude before exploding into a globe of green stars that was still expanding as a ball when th bottom reached the water.
Not technically bigger but much better than this soulless monstrosity. The elegance of the big (and all other sizes) Japanese fireworks is absolute art. I hope to see them in person one day.
I was finding this comment ..hell it's no way near to the one where it got exploded first and then every sparkle had their own shell...that was amazing this one looks so weak as compare to that one
2700 pounds?!! That's the weight of the "super heavy" 16" armor piercing projectile fired by the North Carolina, South Dakota, and Iowa class battleships in WW2.

I believe that one surpassed firework status and has moved into the realm of artillery.
