Adonai Mitchell is awesome. He runs routes with extreme precision. CeeDee Lamb clone. Knows exactly how to manipulate CBs with varied steps and stopping one millisecond before space is created
I think perspective is important when talking about ad at uga as a freshman. He was a 3 star recruit out of high school. And yes the injury to Pickens helped him get on the field. But he wasn’t supposed to hit the field. But he played his way on the field in practice and spring ball. His sophomore year, he was gonna have a breakout year then got a high ankle sprain after the first game. He was really only healthy in the first game and in the postseason.
I definitely understand the hesitation based on analytical profile. Without checking I bet he compares somewhat similar to Tee Higgins analytical profile coming out of college. Ik he was a deep threat with low target share. "Cant do" and "didn't do" are completely different things. He has the ability to seperate early in route's and the hands and frame to secure all types of targets including short distance. I'm willing to bet on that if the price is right. Agree that he is not good after the catch.
I have a few problems with this. First, anyone who says they're a fan of a team, and has a football youtube channel, shouldn't have to go watch film on one of their guys. Second, you can't evaluate WRs and DBs from TV copy. You need all-22. Third, saying Adonai only runs deep routes tells me he just watched highlight videos. There are really only two fair criticisms of Mitchell. One is effort. He doesn't always run complete full speed routes when he's not getting the ball, and he showed lackluster effort on a lot of his blocks. The second is that he doesn't always follow "mandatory" rules on his routes. He inside release on an MOR just because the DB has outside leverage, and visa-versa. Those are fixable. What's hard to find is his size/speed/fluidity/flexibility combination, and his natural feel for manipulating defenders.
You should watch his targets at Georgia, where AD wasn't asked to be purely a deep threat. He definitely showed that he can play a traditional wide receiver role rather than just going deep on every play. Texas ran a weird offense.
I'm assuming this is superflex. I wouldn't do it because you're giving up too much to move up to 1.02. Also, you will almost certainly be able to land nabors or odunze at the 1.06. If they're gone then there should be a highly drafted qb there that you can either take or trade the pick away for more capital
I think you might be putting too much emphasis on the deep targets. Only 24% of his targets were deep, and most of his catches were intermidate, between 10-20 yards.
Completely disagree. You cannot look at the analytical production on an X receiver who had a QB who can't throw the ball down field. Ewers throws floaters . Xavier had more yards because he was an easier target for dumps and screens. AD needs a big arm QB who can extend the football field.
This is one of the smartest takes I've heard here. Look who took AD. A team with a big arm QB that can extend the football field. He attracted way more attention from Maalik Murphy than Ewers because Ewers' strength is in the intermediate and short game more than anything. Ewers can improve on the deep ball but it was only year 2 for him as a starter and that's been the hole in his game if you could poke a hole in it. That and the footwork being sloppy at times. He needs to be able to demonstrate different speeds of throw if he wants to take that next step in year 3.
In one of the best WR drafts I've studied, I have: Elite tier (Top 10) 1. Nabers (Highest Upside) 2. MHJr (Safest pick) 3. Rome (Most Polished, could play X/Y/Slot) Mid-1st Round Grade 4. Brian Thomas Jr 5. Adonai Mitchell Late 1st/Early2nd 6. Keon Coleman 7. Troy Franklin 8. Ladd McConkey 9. Xavier Worthy Could crack Rd2: 10. Roman Wilson 11. Xavier Legette 12. Ja'Lynn Polk 13. Malachi Corley 14. Ricky Pearsall Wildcard late round favorite: 15. Brenden Rice
Mason Mason Mason... you gotta believe in AD man, he made huge plays when it mattered most. I see shades of a young Davante Adams. I know thats a steep steep comparison but I cant help it. you can beat anyalytics and player profile into the ground but the homie AD passes the EYE TEST and thats what I value most. the Texas offense was LOADED with target competition. that is exactly why xavier, AD, JT and the others didnt blow the stat sheets out of the water. JT Sanders I am sure had bad stats and analytics too, are you low on him as well? sure I am biased but give me all the AD, worthy, brooks and Sanders in 2024 drafts. @@Paradis80 I’m not 100% sold on Adonai. But he’s definitely got the tools to succeed. Athletically him and BTJ are very similar, and both freaks. I give the edge to BTJ, but things could change post draft day.
If anybody doesn’t like Ladd McConkey or AD Mitchell, then they really don’t understand football. Look at more than just his targets. These guys can RUN ROUTES. I don’t care about any advanced metrics. The most important thing for a receiver is route running and these are top 3 route runners in the class, right under Nabers
I hear you commentary & respectfully disagree. I get the metrics but I also see the film. I don't know why Texas didn't utilize him but he shows a great ability to separate. He starts & stops like a much smaller framed guy. If he gets coached up I think he has a high ceiling and high floor. Worst case scenario gabe Davis, but I see better movement abillity, route running, and contested catch ability already. He kind of reminds of justin Jefferson in which the way runs. If he can settle in somewhere in between those guys I think he'll have a solid nfl and fantasy career.

Fwiw, as a pff subscriber, I usually like a lot of their stuff, but the rsq on their wr grades to yprr is basically 1. Doesn’t really seem like they grade receivers on their individual output as much as just statistical production
Just like how J'Maar Chase and DK Metcalf made people scurred to pull the trigger...... My Lord, this kid is barely old enough to see an R rated movie theater
My bust alert is Rome Odunze. He is good don't misunderstand me..however what I see is he consistently has college defenders draped all over him. He has trouble separating. If he can't separate in college, what makes me think he'll seperate in the pros? The answer is probably not.
Don’t know what you’re watching but he’s a pretty good separator. Of course you can cherry-pick the occasional play where he gets clamped, as you can with every prospect. On the whole, he has a strong track record for creating separation over his career.
Most contested catches are on go routes tho. Not every go ball is a straight burn down the sideline but the qb trusted his guy enough to go up and get it. He catches with his hands at the highest point, has really good late hands and actually separates well on other routes
Everybody realizing they f^^^ed up scouting Keon Coleman. By the time the draft rolls around he will be WR4 on everybody's board. If not then you're just scared because of QJ's rookie season. People are scared of drafting these athletic freaks and only focused on smaller route-runners. Keon Coleman is going to dominate.
