Man it's a great day when I see a new post from Bill the underdog! Thanks for the technical breakdown of the Medium Arty. I am looking at maining a Stabber for awhile, so that information was just what I needed. Projectiles are some of my favorite weapons. No cap on guns is a PvPers wet dream! The alpha breakdown was really helpful too. It does make sense that high alpha would be desirable in most situations. I was recently taking a dual rep Vengeance into C1 anoms for something different to do. Most of them were extremely doable with only one rep on. I landed on a Phase Catalyst Node though and the initial alpha of 3800 damage erased my shield and 80% of my armor in one shot. I decided to leave with my earnings, instead of in a pod after that.
With Arty you can often ungroup your guns and still one shot kill the weakest frigates. So satisfying when a single weapon cycle is able to blap multiple enemies.
I saw this video posted on a sub yesterday and I wasn't even going to watch it, but one of my alts is training into artillery so I thought I might pick up a tip or two about them. I did not expect an entire lesson on ninja mining and tactical logouts. I give this video a +1
Really love your vids Bill/Machagon. Full disclosure though - I had to give my first vote to Miike "I give free ships to newbros" Azariah as the guy is a total saint. You are my second vote so should hopefully work for you.
I didn't mention it in the video, but it was a conscious choice. The amount of morphite I needed was so small it made no difference and, if I got chased from the belt with only half a load, I didn't want to have to find specifically magma mercoxit or lose my progress.
Hmmm makes sense! I thought of that too but I assumed if you could just find it in one belt, it could probably be found in other belts rather easily too.. though I am no expert in null sec asteroid belts. Anyhoo great stuff as usual! You have my vote

Any thoughts on trying to time this to match a holiday? Bill's cynabal rolls off the assembly line on Halloween? Maybe gets a cool Crimson Harvest skin? #MindBoggles

i find myself using the depleted uranium alot in the hurricane w/the 720s but mayB thas cuz i can only lock to 69km but if i can lock it i smack tha sheet outta it w/the falloff

doesn't that Alpha damage sort of rely on your opponent sitting still or coming straight at you or flying straight away with no traverse. If your tracking sends the shot way off into space nowhere near the opponent, then your DPS is effectively zero. I am not saying you are wrong at all; I am just playing devil's advocate.
Yeah, tracking is a huge issue. That's what I'm trying to illustrate in the ammo analysis in the back half of the episode. But there are ways to mitigate the tracking issues of artillery. And, alpha damage is the MAIN draw of artillery, so you should really try to optimize for it, otherwise you may as well choose another weapon system.
Alpha damage doesn't only rely on opponent sitting still or having no angular velocity ; it is also the basis of your mitigated damage on each hit. Given your weapon hits, of course.

@@tabarnoucheinterplanetary Arty is my second favorite Damage system so I was knocking it at all, and I am by no means an expert on PVP so you would know way more than me if it is the best choice for your situation, I like Autocannons for PVE but I know arty kiting is crazy good for PVE as well it's just how I like to play. I didn't mean to imply arty was a bad weapons system. I was just thinking a 650 would hit more often thus cause more overall damage than the larger system even with its great Alpha damage. I don't know if that applies to PVP fights which end much faster usually than PVE fights.

@@epiquetete52 yeah I was just thinking the 650 would be more likely to hit so the higher alpha would be less important, I was also not considering he will likely be in PVP more than me and I love Autocannons for PVE so I was not knocking his choice just asking a question.
How do you not have a UA-cam @? 😂 it broke my phone app when trying to reply to you for like a solid minute lol Also, use pyfa to test auto cannons vs artillery and vs different ships to test the effective dps, plus you get pretty graphs to look at with pyfa.
It's amazing you're doing an arty review because I was checking yesterday for an arty HFI fit ! So invaluable info here 👍 and I'll definitely go check some simulations on Pyfa. Btw, did you know that T2 and meta4 ("scout") arty have exactly the same stats ? Meta4 are better in terms of fitting, but T2 let you use T2 ammo and benefit from specialization skills.
