10 Mountains - 1 Day The Mamores Munros
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- This video is all about the challenge we set ourselves to complete the entire range of the Mamores Mountain Range in Glen Nevis in 1 day!
So, Brad and I decided to raise money for two very worthwhile charities. JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the Renfrew Victoria Youth FC. Instead of doing a normal thing like a sponsored walk or shorter hike, we decided to REALLY challenge ourselves!
The start of this epic hike is from the Lower Falls Car Park in Glen Nevis taking on #1 Mullach Nan Coirean, #2 Stob Bàn, #3 Sgùrr a' Mhàim, #4 Am Bodach, #5 Stob Coire a' Chàirn, #6 An Gearanach, #7 Na Gruagaichean, #8 Binnein Mòr, #9 Sgùrr Eilde Mòr, #10 Binnein Beag and finishing at the Steall Falls Car Park in Upper Glen Nevis.
The plan was for this to be done in around 14 hours but as you will see in the video, this didn't quite go to plan!
A special thanks to Arron "Azz" Pike for use of his drone! What trust he must have in me!
I really do hope you enjoy the video and if you can, please donate to our worthwhile causes.

A mixture of stamina, determination and absolute insanity. Well done.
Well done sir 😎👍🏴
Outstanding, respect to you both 😊
@@andrewhay3919 thanks so much. Was a huge effort but the day was more than worth it. Thanks for watching. ATB. 😊
Amazing video and achievement. Me and three friends are doing this as part of a challenge in June this year. We have called it The Munro Marathon, 26 Munros over three ranges on three consecutive days. Your video was part of the inspiration for me setting this challenge. 10 munros day 1 in the Mamors, 7 day 2 Lawers range, 9 day 3 Glenshee. Wish us luck. PS your round up after the fact caused us all to shit ourselves, spending 2 days there checking it out caused us to shit ourselves even more!!!!!😂
Hi Keith! Unbeknown to the UA-cam community but i did this round again last year! It's all in the preparation mate. Make sure you've got the lightest kit and the appropriate nutrition and you'll skoosh it! I've actually done all your rounds you mentioned above and i'm sure you'll smash them all! Happy to give advice if required. Please feel free to message me on FB. Also, get your JustGiving or charity link in the comments! Every little helps ;) Here's a link to my Glenshee Round. ua-cam.com/video/RQg2dIArZzg/v-deo.htmlsi=AeTmKP26yC-yAip7
Absolutely awesome effort. Full respect.
@@charlesrobert9527 thanks so much. Was such a memorable day! So much so, we went back and did it again last year! 😂 Thanks for watching. ATB. 😊
I knew you guys had done these but this was the first time it popped up on the notifications. Waw guys I'm speechless. How on earth did you manage ten in one day. Superb effort guys
Thanks so much for the comment Marcus. Not quite sure how we managed things either! 😂 thanks again for watching! ATB
Amazing achievement Steven and Brad, absolutely amazing for everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️🗻🧗
Thanks so much Ben. We feel proud to have raised so much money 💷 for such great causes.
Amazing effort from both you guys - what an achievement. The footage and commentary was fantastic and not only caught the stunning views but also the emotion of the day. Congratulations and all the best.
Thanks so much Graham. Glad the video had the effect that was intended. Thanks for watching. ATB. 😊
Brilliant achievement. I got sare legs watching it.
The Mamores is a fantastic range. Loved doing they hills.
Got to be some of my favourite mountains. The fact that I've now done the 10 in one go...twice tells that story! Thanks for watching. ATB.
@@mountainspeak390 twice lol.
I binged watched your channel last night on my tv. Great wee channel 👍
Well done Steve & Brad, the videography was spot on and did the landscapes and views justice, you couldn’t have wished for a better day and conditions for the challenge, congratulations again, you did your chosen charity’s and I am sure your families proud
Thanks so much for the kind words Alex. We tried hard to get some good videography early on as we knew we wouldn’t be able to later! 😆 ATB. 😉
After doing the 9 at the Fannichs in a day I fully appreciate the effort you put into not just the hike but also this amazing film you produced. It's amazing how far the body can be pushed on these Munro's. Even watching this video made me tired. Well done, great achievement. ATB.
Thanks so much Gaz. Appreciate the kind comments. It was definitely a massive test for me and Brad. ATB
Did this route yesterday and your thoughts at each stage were pretty much the exact same as mine 😂 I have done a few multi Munro routes before but this was by far the hardest. Recommendations to anyone that does it:
1. Start early. Some people can do it in 11 hours but heard people say all the way up to 22 hours so be prepared for worst. I usually walk about 20% faster than walk highlands claims and this took me 16.5 hours!!
2. Bring lots of water. I went through close to 6 litres.
3. The last 2 Munro’s are horrible after a long day particularly number 9 of the day. I would think of number 8 as being half way through the day for how tough/long the last 2 are.
4. If camping the night before drop your car at the upper glen Nevis car park which will save about 20 mins of walking at the end of the day.
5. Almost all of the Munro’s are more technically challenging than usual requiring some scrambling.
7. Search mamores 10 posts on Facebook before going to see others opinions.
Edit: Also met a guy that was running 18 Munro’s that day including the 10 mamore Munro’s so shout out to him
Thanks so much for the cracking comment. We actually just did this round again 2 days ago!!!! You must’ve been starting as we were leaving Glen Nevis for home! Your thoughts are spot on. Good advice for anyone looking to do the 10. Watch out for an updated video coming soon! 😉
@@mountainspeak390 what a coincidence, I’ll keep an eye out for the video 😂 don’t see myself doing this route again but we will see if I forget the pain over time…..
Superb guys, well done to you both! 🏴🏔
Well done guys, we camped up at the bottom of Sgurr Eilde Mor earlier in the year with snow still on the ground, and catching three Munro's, and I know how tough that was, well done, Amazing achievement to both , great videos, keep it up.
Thanks so much Kenny, camping 🏕 there is definitely on my to do list! Thanks for watching. 😊
Cracking video.....Great high resolution quality watching on my big tele cheers for this guys
Thanks so much for watching. All the best 😊
Brilliant well done. That was an emotional roller coaster. Great watch.
We tried our best to convey how we felt on the day. Which was as up and down as the video! 😂 😆 thanks for watching! 😊
super effort you guys, very inspiring
Thank you so much for the kind words. 😊
Enjoyed watching this. Well done. Did the same route in similar conditions last year- it’s a brilliant circuit. But I remember being relieved to find that stream on the way to binnen beag! Atb gordon
Well done big man, what an undertaking! Especially given that you'd only done a max of 2 peaks prior! No shame in dropping out at all, better safe than sorry :)
Thanks for the lovely comment Scott. It was definitely a trip to remember. I actually really fancy going back next summer and doing a wild summit camps or two. The scenery in that area is breathtaking! Thanks for watching.
Excellent video guys.Much respect to both of you for taking the challenge on.Some amazing footage you captured there.😀👏👏👏
Thanks so much for watching Andy. Glad you enjoyed the video. ATB. 😊😊
Amazing, well done both of u 👏
What an amazing achievement mate. what a day for it, doing it in that heat as well - some effort. Congradulations!
Thanks so much for the kind words. Definitely was the hardest my body has ever been pushed! 😆 Thanks again for watching. 😊
Beautiful running footage, nice trails! Glad to find other running channels like mine, to share our passions, to exchange ideas and so on. Completely watched, appreciated and subscribed, dear Mountain's Peak friend
Well done guys,i done the Rng of Steall at the start of June, parked at the lower falls and headed up Steall Gorge past the falls and went up onto An Gearanach then onto Stob Choire a Chàirn, Am Bodach and then across the Devils Ridge to Sgùrr a'Mhaim,,,i took 14 hours but it was tough,i was ever so glad i"d parked at the lower falls and hadn't left myself the walk up the Glen,,,,,,as i said the 4 was tough going and it was a long day,,,,,,,Amazing achievement doing the 6 never mind the 10
Thanks so much for your comment dg outdoors. That was by far the toughest hike either of us have ever done. I would like to do the Ring of Steall some time again to try and enjoy and absorb the scenery. It’s one of my favourite places! Thanks for watching. 😊
Been watching this one back Stevie as I’m wanting it done over the summer. Just can’t decide if I do it in one day or as a camp
Hi Robert. I would say camp if you really want to enjoy it. It's definitely doable in one day whilst enjoying it but a big ask nevertheless. More than happy to discuss the technical side of it, if you need. ;)
@@mountainspeak390 aye I will pick your brains once I’ve got a date in mind. Kind of thought a lot of the technical stuff is the outliers so if I leave my bag in spots it should make it easier. Water seems like the issue but that’s just a challenge to overcome
Great video! Thinking of doing it in two days and camping near halfway, do you have any recommendations for camping spots?
Hi thanks for the great comment. There are plenty of camping spots in the cols of the mountains. The sections in between each summit. Most of the summits are rocky and uneven though, so a summit spot may be difficult. The Bealach a’Chadha Riabhaich in between mountains 4 & 5 would be a great wee spot and it’s near some small pools where you could filter water. Around w3w : educated.vessel.palm. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and ATB.
Well done to both of you what an achievement, hope yous don’t hang up your walking boots ……well done
Certainly not! They’re being readied for the West Highland Way right now ! 😛 thanks for watching 😊
How did u plan the route? Did you just make it up by reading maps/ apps or is there a place I could find the route? Cheers
Hi mate. I found the route in a few places and from maps but the best and most detailed route and description is here. www.stevenfallon.co.uk/mamores.html
Thanks for watching. ATB 👍🏻
@@mountainspeak390 thanks for that mate
