Mykonos is uniquely beautiful in those light-hearted videos.
However, the VERY UGLY truth beneath this surface of picturesque and attractive ambience and architecture is that the whole island, once the retreat of preference for international classy celebrities (writers, composers, Nobel prize laureates, painters, opera singers, Hollywood actors) and very-old-money tycoons, is nowadays riddled with sheer lawlessness, tax evasion, drug trafficking, prostitution, money laundering and oligarchs and sheiks that brutally exploit the seasonal Greek workers of the island (waiters, hotel employees, cleaners, cooks, technicians etc) and treat everybody like trash.
The island's villages and country side are way over-built in disregard of all urban laws and limitations, while hotels, villas and restaurants charge go-go exorbitant prices (way above anyone would dare charge in a Caribbean-level island). Mykonos does NOT welcome average tourists (well off or not-so-well-off) anymore. It definitely has stopped attracting celebrities long ago.
It is typically host to ostentatious, nouveau-riche clientele, cruise-ship travelers that visit the island just for a lunch, and young people who can marginally afford to spend one or maybe two nights on the island just to brag to their friends that had been there.
Avoid it at all costs, primarily in the "tourist season" from late April to late September.
Mykonos is just another island in fast, dark, irreversible decay.
Why people allow to flim other people when they are out relaxing?
The moment you get 3 ships with 10000 people flooding the Mykonos Town is fun, great fun, they leave no business to the locals, actually if I were local I would vote to stop these ships arrive. The local shops sell only generic products from China. If you want to go around the island there are no busses running except if you are lucky. Frankly I will never return to this island again, despite its beaty and it is still a lovely island if you know where to go and when ...
The Central Government or the Union Government is the government at the level of the sovereign state. Usual responsibilities of this level of the government ate to maintain national security and exercise international diplomacy, including the right to sing binding treaties. Basically, the Central Government has the power to make laws for the whole country, unlike the situation with local governments.Centerl Government also works alongside agencies to help with tax collection?🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
