@12:30 that's an air tank, NOT an air compressor.

The paint shaker is still sold today but at $149. It is never on any ads that I have seen. so $150 is the lowest and only price. Jacks and auto lifts are a lot more expensive today at H.F. they do have lower priced items. I got a 3 ton rapid lift to $89.00 last year and still can get it for that on sale, They did away with those sales newspapers and now use coupons for a lot of things and its done through the website or email if you sign up.
HF started out a catalog mail order business. I believe they opened the first retail store in the 80's and spent a lot of money mailing out those printed ads like this one.
Great trip down the scenic memory lane, Thanks

I have been buying from Harbor Freight since the 1980's. 1 of the first things I remember buying was a 20 ton hydraulic jack for about $55. That jack lasted me until just a few years ago when it started to leak. I used and abused it a lot. The quality of a lot of things has really improved over the years.
    Thanks for the video

Where HF has lost it, and quite a lot of business, is when they discontinued the perpetual 20% off coupon. Back in the day, the coupon was pretty much unrestricted as to what items and brands you were able to use it on. Then HF started restricting the brands, then the items. By the time the 20% coupon disappeared, the list of things you could purchase with the coupon was smaller than the list of what you could not use it on. I remember when they excluded from the 20% off coupon, air compressors, then welders, then all tool "storage" which is the cabinets, then the trailers....literally today when the 20% off makes an appearance (which it rarely does) there are more items and brands that are EXCLUDED that are included. Today, with the 20% off coupon gone, I spend more money on Amazon at Lowes and Home Depot, than I do at HF. In years past when the 20% coupon was good, the only time I would shop at other places than HF is when HF did not offer the item I needed. So HF has lost a lot of money from just me alone, Imagine how much business they have lost on the whole.

Now that's some entertainment plus education. Sure some of the big ticket items are higher now but as you said the quality did as well too. I'm blown away that some of the everyday items are comfortably the same it cheaper. I can vouch for the solar panel. I bought it when it came down around 100 to 125, on coupon. It's been long enough I don't remember exactly. I do remember the next year they brought out the 100 watt for the same price. The frame and stand on mine felt cheap but it's still holding.

My top 3 HF items purchased, 1. Aluminum snow shovels, outlasts Fiskar. 2. 9 mil Nitrile gloves and 3. Nose hair trimmer. No joke consumer reports had it as a top 5 nose hair trimmers back in the day, and only like $6 Ha ha
