Just because electrolytic capacitors are old, does not mean they are bad. This particular 179 has the least hum of any I've ever had, so I don't plan on changing a thing! Contrast this with a Filmosound 185 that I currently own that is ALL hum. I wouldn't turn the 185 on ever without new filter caps (and also with a 185 you must use an isolation transformer because they are hot chassis).
You going to have it worked on to replace the old capacitors? If so where? These sound incredible, one of the best amplifiers of all. 🤘🏼
