    I'll never forget a patient that I had in the late 1970s who had leukemia was on a trip to Canada 70th with his wife and happened to be staying in the same hotel as Anne. Somehow she found out about his illness and was very thoughtful to send flowers to his room. I always felt this was so touching.

    Anne Murray's songs evoke such nostalgia for me. My grandmother always had her music playing throughout her house. I have such warm memories of time spent with my beloved grandmother, with Anne's music playing in the background.
    This was the first concert that I ever attended. My grandma told me that she, and my mom, were amazed because I was absolutely spellbound throughout the entire concert, and mesmerized with Anne. I was only five years old, and apparently never took my eyes off of her! My grandma told me that she initially didn't think I should attend the concert with my older siblings because she thought that I would get restless, but I was glued to my seat the whole time! 😊
    I just love her! I'm a huge fan. There's no one like Anne. She makes all Canadians proud! 🇨🇦

      A guy who later became my classmate in the 11th grade told me that Anne Murray's concert was the first concert that he ever attended, as well, at the age of five. We were both on the circuit tour that year, I guess. He was one province away from where I had grown up.
      He told me that Anne gave him a rose during the show, and that it was one of the most exciting, memorable moments of his childhood! 😉 That's something coming from a big, tough guy who went on to play in the NHL.

    I have grown up my whole life knowing Anne. I also am from Springhill. My mother was the first baby her father delivered in Springhill where he was a doctor. My grandmother worked as a nurse with Anne’s mom Marion in the hospital. My Uncle who passed was Arnold Harrison and she was good friends with Anne. I was in Springhill when the Anne Murray center opened. Just listening to her talk about the bump. My grandfather lost a leg in the bump. This is bringing back so many memories. Glad to see she has moved home. Actually Anne.s brother is married to someone whose daughter hangs out with my daughter. My daughter Sarah was at her cottage jumping on her trampoline. Anyways this brought back so many memories. Take care Cheryl Bouges

    It's so true when Anne says as a maritmer you always want to go home. My mum was born and raised in Estevan, Saskatewan but moved to Nova Scotia with my dad because my dad was in the Navy and transferred there. My mum was the best Bluenoser there was. She embodied the friendliness and the caring that maritmers are known for. Myself and all my siblings were born and raised in Nova Scotia and I will always be a bluenoser. No matter where I live Nova Scotia is my home. That is where my heart is.

    I just love that there's such an Anne renaissance happening right now. She so deserves it. My local rock station has played her many times over the Christmas holidays, and couldn't believe the positive feedback. Anne could have packed it in so many times in the 1970's and 80's, and no body would have blamed her. But she persevered. Also, incredible credit to her last manager Bruce Allen for making the final part of her career exactly how she wanted it, and financially secure. Anne and Bruce's relationship reminds us, that some times good people need a real ball buster to go to bat for them. Bruce Allen will be allowed into heaven for that, and his incredible work to get things done and all those artists on "Tears are not Enough".

    • @globalcat
      @globalcat 2 роки тому +2

      Judging by how many albums she put out in such a short time seem like somebody was "busting her balls" - altho she put out great songs. She also said she wouldn't want to leave retirement and said something along the lines if she knew she didn't have to sing past a certain point she wouldn't have. But glad she's had numerous years to enjoy retirement, she's certainly deserved it.

    I want to say first, Anne Murray is one of the greatest singers of our time. She made it look so easy and effortless that I think a lot of people and the music industry took it for granted. I was fortunate to see her in concert two times and she is a great entertainer as well. She is one of the greats. Second, this was a lovely lovely interview -- kudos to Tom Power for being so respectful and empathic.

    One of my top singers when I was growing up in the late 60s and 70s was Anne Murray. Just loved hearing her songs on the radio and always thought it was a treat seeing her on those TV specials way back then. I just gushed over her. My favorite Anne Murray song is Snowbird. I visited Nova Scotia in the Summer of 1995. And while touring NS, to my amazing surprise, I stumbled upon the Ann Murry Museum! WOW! It had my pic taken outside next to the sign and then toured the Museum! The Best surprise for me touring NS!! Just loved her music as a kid, and still do! I was stationed at NAS BRUNSWICK, Maine. So I went on a 10 day leave and drove to Canada.

Anne raised her kids a normal life style , my daughter was a clasmate of her daughter , I think , in grade seven or eight , and was invited to her birthday party . My daughter told me some time late rthat she didn't go , i didn't say anything to her but i wish she had accepted because Anne is a very warm down to earth person .

My mom has been gone for 22 years - but every time I hear Anne Murray - I hear my mom in my soul. Anyway- much love to Anne Murray and family. May you all be blessed with health, peace, and joy in all the simple things.

    I would like to share something that has meant a lot to me through the years, and I hope that Anne Murray will eventually see it. It was obviously during your fuzzy years Anne. Specifically, Memorial Day weekend, 1973, and you gave 2 free mini concerts in Disneyworld. I had a French Cousin who was in the French Navy, and his ship was visiting Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville for the weekend. I drove down for the weekend from Detroit, Michigan to pick him up, and drove him to see as much of Florida as I could that weekend. We drove down US 1 all the way to Key West the first day, and then I drove up the middle of Florida the second day stopping at 6 Gun Territory

I thought I'd die when I agreed to go to work, as opposed to being a homemaker. Being there when the kids came home from school, and keeping a home. It meant something... to me, at least. Great interview Tom. I just wish Anne would come out of retirement and do very small intimate concerts. That would be really nice. But I know that's never going to happen. Seems like her heels are dug in solid to the ground for not performing again.
