That was the one of the performances of the Mediterranean Arts Festival in Hong Kong, 2007. I was there. Her voice was so touching that I cried throughout the whole performance! She is great, really.
Christina Branco really translates the Portuguese nostalgia so well and makes you really understand what Fado is really about bravo

Se houver uma interpretação mais antiga talvez seja melhor mas a versão da Amália que está no UA-cam não chega aos calcanhares desta. Infelizmente nota-se a idade e o "fumo" na voz de Amália. A força continuava lá mas já lhe faltava uma certa nitidez.
Desconhecia a Cristina Branco e estou muito feliz por a ter encontrado.

theres room and diversity in fado for her Mariza and evrebody that feel wat they sing, as a portuguese i Love Fado i think Fado as a sublime form of art, but most strongly as a way to exorcise felings out , as thaking them out of an individual soul to became this!!!!

Fair point. Stalking? Namorar can have different levels of commitment from flirting to being engaged. So something like

it´s impossible to transmit in words ... Amália was "soul" ... "soul" single soul ...
Cada vez que se comenta alguma nova voz do fado, surgem sempre comparações. A única coisa que as novas fadistas/cantoras de fado têm em comum é precisamente isso, cantarem o( novo) fado. Cada uma tem o seu estilo, a sua marca, a sua característica. Nunca vai aparecer a nova Amália, porque como ela não há nem vai haver nenhuma. Nem outra Mariza, Ana Moura ou Cristina Branco. Apreciem, só. E agora, silêncio, que se vai cantar o fado... ;-)
Mencionem os autores por favor! Esta senhora nunca põe os autores nos Fados que canta e isso é muito triste! Eles merecem o nosso respeito porque sem eles não havia Fado!!!
Não se compreende tal comentário. Na página oficial da artista e fadista Cristina Branco estão devidamente mencionados os autores das canções/letras, etc. Inclusivamente, a Cristina Branco menciona os autores nos seus concertos, antes de cada canção.

@JVWork Foi exactamente isso que pensei ao ouvir a Amália cantar esta música. Bem que gostava que a Cristina Branco tivesse uma voz mais poderosa, esta música pede um timbre de força que nos faça tremer. Nesta versão o que mais gosto é mesmo da melodia da guitarra...

I don't entirely agree. Certainly, singers like Mariza and Ana Moura, as well as Katia Guerreiro and others can't quite stand out as Amália did. At the same time, there's a risk that, by deifying Amália we risk freezing fado, because nothing and no-one can ever be as good. That's not true. I think this version of Tive um coração perdi-o is better than Amália's rendition, much though I love that. Cristina has a marvellous voice and should sing more fado. The same is true of Misia. Aldina Duarte?
It's so hard to compare Mariza and Cristina.. I do feel Cristina's artistic ambitions are higher but Mariza emotes in a more forceful manner. To some the emoting is too much but fado is melodramatic.
I like her better than Mariza.

Search for: José Manuel Neto (the guitar player on this video) ; Alcino Frazão ; José Fontes Rocha ; Luis Guerreiro ; Miguel Braga ; Marta Pereira Da Costa ; António Chainho ; Carlos Paredes ; Jorge fontes ; Sidónio Pereira.... and you will be amazed with our guitar players. No one can play a 12 string guitar like portuguese fado players... no one, not even Jimmi Page... he tried, he tried !

A meu ver são interpretações muito diferentes e cada uma tem o seu quê mas a da Amália para mim fica aquém vocalmente, não no sentimento ou na alma, simplesmente na voz porque ela já tinha uma idade avançada e o instrumento já não era o mesmo. A versão da Amália soa como uma septuagenária ou octagenária, que concerteza era na altura. Tem um fumo e cansaço na voz.

You must be joking. Mariza is good, but that's all. Cristina is way much better. Mariza's tone is average and she overacts live. Completely unnatural. Cristina is all but that. Excellent voice, great performance with no schizophrenic melodramatic and overexaggerated performances.
Não creio!! Que a intenção da expressão "não com técnica"! Não era com más intenções!! Por outro lado é normal existirem menos brasileiros a tocar guitarra portuguesa. Agora n fales mal dos músicos brasileiros. Tiveram do melhor que o mundo já viu. Na música não existe competição e xenofobia!!!!! Abraço de tuga
