I have an off the wall watermelon thought.
What if it was sliced up with some spicy peppers (dealer's choice) left to soak and then either dehydrated or freeze dried? It would be a zippy watermelon candy almost.
I was very late getting my melon transplants in the ground.. but they vines are good. They didn't really get transplant shock.
I put in two different honey dews and two Juan canary melon plants.

Loved the "Here is my pet"!! When teaching junior high science, you never knew what a kid would bring in. One young man brought in a huge Golden Garden spider and showed everyone how he could pet it. Freaked a few kids out! :) Those spiders run in cycles around here. Some years there are several "hanging around." Other years, not so much. BTW....glad you got the critter!!

Mrs Wanda has a great eye for finding ripe vegetables in heavy vegetation! We’ve been lucky, no horn worms, but the leaf footed stink bugs have shown up. They are evil little creatures! We’re about at the end of our tomatoes though, so I’m going to try butterbeans as I clear tomato beds.

Once corn smut is present, it's based in the soil. So if you want to keep planting corn on that spot, you need to treat the soil with a fungicide. Or else, lay down clear plastic tarps to solarize the soil. Once that process is complete, you need to go back and reestablish your soil microbiology before planting again.
I've never been hungry enough to eat corn smut!
