Very true about Joe. He was an excellent fiddle player. Joe recorded an album with the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys. I was there when they recorded it. Heck of a snow storm! Someone came in from outside and said, "Who's car is that out there? It's parked on the train tracks and the train will be coming through here in about five minutes." It had snowed so hard you couldn't see the tracks. We about didn't make it there for the recording. Slippin' and a slidin'.
I've always loved this song, reading it as a post-breakup song. Sunday, my gf passed away in her sleep as I slept next to her. It hits harder and in a different place now. God Bless the Virginia Boys
A great song by a great Duo! THIS is Bluegrass! I first heard it done by the Bear Creek Boys of Santa Cruz, Cal., and went out and bought the recording by Red Allen & the Kentuckians. So good!
They did this song for us in Darrington, Washington - up at the schoolhouse. What a concert! Few bands are as good as their recordings, but Jim & Jesse may have been even better onstage as in a studio.
I seen these guys around 1970 when I was a kid perform standing on a flatbed truck in the parking lot of a P.N.Hirsch department store in Pacific ,Missouri. Got to see them and meet them years later on the Opry,Bluegrass Festivals. Talented brother duo.
I've loved this song since I was a kid. Sunday afternoon, my girlfriend passed away in her sleep next to me as I napped. It hits harder and in a different place. Still an awesome song
I thank God that I was able to see them a couple of times while they touring.
These guys took bluegrass music to new heights, not only musically, but professionally as well.

No band can beat their pretty, gorgeous, beautiful harmony !
@HalcyonRecords Not uncommon.

Can't feel tired from listening this kind of music. They are superb. Real country music.

You might try County Sales. They have a lot of recordings. Either that or some place like Ebay or Amazon.
Isn't that Joe Meadows on the fiddle? He was a good friend from West Virginia. Recorded and played some with the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys.
how did I lose you my blue eyed cowgirl ?
Somebody actually hit the dislike icon for this video. Must have been a rather serious accident.
No some punk....That calls the new crap country...It isn't..
NOT Johnny Paycheck
it sure is fiddlin Joe Meadows. he was a fine fiddler, and never has gotten the credit he deserves in my opinion.
Looks more like Joe Meadows to me...
Not as good as Charlie and Ira Louvin. Not even close.
I beg to differ but ilike the L ouvin bro,s are great as well.
I love them both
I think all the covers they did of the louvins are better. The louvins are great, but I personally think Jim and Jesse cant be beat.
I agree. And I love Jim & Jesse music.
@@Gilstrap2009 Just wish i could've seen them live.
it's a pity these glorious people get old and die
