When will they come out with a diesel JL/JT kit?
RUN IT OVER SOME URBAN BROKEN TARMAC AND GIVE US YOUR IMPRESSIONS
“Another inch…doesn’t sound like a lot but it can be a huge difference…”
- that’s what she said.
😂😂😂😂
You'll never hear a woman complain about a couple extra inches
LOL
I've Been wanting someone to come out with an air suspension for wranglers for years. Awesome!
ORO has made them for many years.
Coulda been you
I'm sold. Accuair is an excellent company and this system seems beautifully engineered and designed. I love that they match the factory spring curves.
Great for overlanding with a rooftop tent or if you sleep inside. Having on road or off road modes and being able to level your rig without stacking rocks or whatever under your tires would be great.
That’s a significant part of my use case. Excited to get my 2024 so I can install this system.
Pretty awesome looking system. I wish it was winter so this could get tested in freezing temperatures. Definitely seem my share of air systems fail when they get too cold.
Jeep motor company should start using similar system as an option. The camping leveling completely sold me, the tech is a winner
This guys a hell of a sales man
T. Quickly becoming the best of the crew there at TFL
I should have added to my other comment that Jeep ought to work with accuair and develop a factory option for the full kit!
I think this is an overdue area of improvement in suspension. LR has been notorious for failed air bags but then again they have also pushed the envelop on development of these suspension systems.
What I like about this solution is it’s modular and user fixable/ field serviceable with a schrader valves if the pump fails, etc.
IMHO that’s how air suspension should be done. Where LR failed and still fails is making these systems as critical failure points and non user/ field serviceable
Which modern LR product is having air suspension issues now? Yes their earlier models had those issues for sure, but that is what you get when you are one of the first to the markets with new tech.
@@DrivenHard yes. That’s the point I was making about LR being trend setters.
The modern LR air suspensions might not have issues but they are still non user serviceable/ non field fixable critical points of failure
I'm most curious about on road driving characteristics and how it handles crosswinds. Hope you cover that in the coming videos.
Generally they work as good if not better than their coil/leaf spring counterpart. The pressure in each bag is variable, as it’s holding a position sensor driven ride height, so if a cross wind causes it to lean the sensor would call one side low and add air. Passed that it’s just a spring, so the dampers would play a significant role in cross winds.
That is one of the coolest things I've seen for Jeeps/Off-roaders in a long time. Very polished and professional info delivery by the gentleman representing the company too. I don't own a Wrangler or Bronco yet but if and when I do, I almost see this as a "must-have" and wonder how long it will be before the tech comes standard on these kinds of vehicles.
What if you puncture air bag. How about winter there’s so much moisture In those lines
It would stop on the bump stops and the system would probably disable the rest to match. Then you're back to a regular old wrangler. And they probably have a drain like most compressor systems.
Excellent video guys, very informative. You didn't mention reliability but given that my 2006 Porsche Cayenne is still on its original air suspension at 174K miles. I imagine this setup will be equally impressive and make the upfront cost very livable over the ownership of the vehicle. Well done.
the guy said limited lifetime warranty. that’s quite a confident product statement.
Jeep fan boys at TFL through and through
Wow, this is a fantastic suspension system! I can see Jeepers, both JL and JT, flocking to this, it appears to be very versatile, durable and reliable! Great review, Tommy. My only question: $'s?
Very nice if they're reliable.
Being able to change your approach angle and your departure angle is fantastic, as is leveling it out if you have a rooftop tent.
Thanks for the introduction to this product.
My concern would be the inherent moisture that compressing air produces , does it have an air dryer that removes it ? Bad things happen when the temperature goes below freezing . or do you have to drain the tank daily .
The app is what sold me. That is so sick the amount of control you can have over the system.
I`m glad I put off any upgrades on my brand new JL. This is exactly what I wanted, however, it might be problematic in cold weather (Canada). Time to move :)
Maybe people can use this to adjust their headlights. Because apparently none of these mechanically inclined individuals who go through all the trouble of lifting their jeeps know of any other means of adjusting those.
Looking forward to the update testing videos with this system
I've had 2 different trucks that have accuair systems on them. Both 1 ton SRW trucks and both primarily used for towing. Currently have a 2010 Ram 3500 with airbags on all 4 corners and Accuair management and still love it! Especially once you learn the ins and outs of the system and how to work on and trouble shoot the system, its really amazing!
Condensation in air systems and freezing weather never ends well. No mention of a air dryer system
That is a very cool and well thought out product. Even the control and app look great. It's too bad Jeep or Ford haven't come up with something like this for the Wrangler, Gladiator or Bronco. It is a great solution which allows for good road handling (lower CG and wind resistance) and also great off the road handling.
I'm actually surprised that this has taken so long to come to market......Range Rover proved way back that air bags can work and be strong...Huge dump trucks use air bags.
Remember, you're talking about people who like jeep wranglers. All of them wish it was still 1975, especially the ones born after 1985
Every manufacturer that installed air suspensions has had expensive issues. It gets even more expensive once the car is out of warranty. That's why there is a robust market for coil over replacements for so many models.
Then there is the durability of the air coils once they dirt, grit, rocks and other crap coating the rubber bags.
You’ve got the be joking right? One of the most frequent failing parts on the Range Rover is the airbags.
@@groosbro1 well, anytime you add complexity durability may suffer. It's like anything else, are the benefits worth it? Or not. Your decision.
@@electrikoptik 273,000 miles on my Lr3 still on air.
Mark really knows his stuff👍🏼
It seems neat, specially for a pickup being able to increase departure angle at the touch of a button. However, I do worry about any added complication and this is a big additional complication.
Thank you making this series. I am considering this lift for my project. Can't wait to see more videos on this. I use the Rubi tires for daily driving then switch to my larger tires for off roading. This Lift seems perfect as I'll keep the Jeep at a nice low driving around hieght then lift while off roading. Wife and dog will appreciate the ease of entry.
This is a good sales guy.
I had the factory air suspension on my Grand Cherokee, when it was fully aired-up it rode as if it had no suspension at all = terribly stiff.
All the way up is only for clearing obstacles.
Sounds like a winner. Question: does the install allow for maintaining factory ride height at rest?
FINALLY!!! I'm super excited that you guys got a JL Unlimited! Ive got a white Rubicon in my future! Rock on, guys!!
would have to see more than a light green trail to make me blink, looks like a mall crawler still
While I don't think you should exceed 25mph in a parking garage but I'm from Boston and our drivers have a rep to maintain.
25 in a parking garage is normal Boston driving.
To me that could be an issue
Nice MoonSwatch!
AIR SUSPENSION IS THE KING. My 2000 Lexus LX 470 has 250,000 miles on it and with routine maintenance every 10 years swapping fluid, still works great. It has never had an issue other than when Toyota shipped contaminated fluid to dealers. The only problem with AHC is that all Toyota technicians and almost all Lexus technicians will refuse to service it because they don't have experience with it.
I'm looking at all those bugs on the windshield. I've had long road trips where I've had to stop and get gas long before the tank was empty just to clean off all those buggers.
How does the system work in extreme cold? Such as -40 below up here in Alaska. Freezing air lines seem possible also.
well this answered a lot of people question from the previous episode, especially articulation
I just watched a Trailmater video, and he was rescuing a 23,000 lb earthroamer vehicle that had the air suspension too. Great for those awkward obstacles I guess. 👍
For me, this Air Suspension System for the Unlimited Wranglers (and Gladiators) could be a game changer. Until now, I would not have considered a Wrangler, despite their offroad prowess, especially when properly lifted and kitted out. I have owned since new a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Diesel (83K mi so far), w/ Off-Road Adventure II Pkg, LOTS of added bash plates (Chief Products and Mopar Rock-sliders). It has the factory Air Suspension, which is OK, but somewhat temperamental, and it is quite "stiff-legged," especially in the "Offroad II" setting (almost 12" of ground clearance with Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs I am running) which I use frequently at my place in northern Michigan, 2-1/2 hour highway miles away, where I hunt and fish. I also do some occasional towing, and take a few trips each year throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula. What sold me on the Grand Cherokee vs. an Unlimited Wrangler at the time (2015) was the factory Air Suspension system in the Grand Cherokee, its the better highway ride, not to mention a little more cargo space (having come from a slightly lifted '04 Chevy Tahoe Z71, which I had bought new and completely wore out). I would consider putting the new AccuAir Suspension system on a Willys Unlimited Wrangler (with rear locker). I'm not a rock crawler, but do contend with lots of mud and deep ruts, usually running solo, so I'm thinking that AccuAir-sprung Willys Unlimited just might be the sweet spot for me (or perhaps a Gladiator?).
It sounds like you are just adding the airbags, which would be like adding lift springs & shocks only? What about the track bar and control arms?
Great product! I have an ‘89 YJ and would love to see a conversion kit for my “classic” Jeep.
Great video! Can you run 37’s with this system and how is it on the highway? Does it solve the usual problems with freeway driving?
That's my question also. Hopefully they answer it.
Brilliant ,maybe someday my 4xe Rubicon will afford this !!!
So it's their version of Toyota's KDSS then, or my old GX470's air suspension on all 4 tires
I have Jeeps version on my WK 2. It works fine. I’m sure Jeep will have its own version available for the Wranglers soon.
I would not be put off by 4x4 air suspension at all, provided this is a well engineered product. When my family started to move its heavy trucks to air suspension we were initially skeptical and worried that we would get loads of problems particularly as we only had a rudimentary workshop on site. Fifteen years later air suspension gives way less trouble than mechanical springs when operated at max weight and is usually quicker to fix provided its not an ECU issue. Most air leaks can be fixed in a few minutes and changing an airbag is way lighter work than a truck spring and can sometimes be done beside the road. Bags are quite difficult to damage as well. 👍
That’s impressive looking technology I must admit - makes my D4 look very basic!
I have a JT Gladiator in Grand Junction Colorado with a Full Travel lite Camper, and this system is sitting in my shop getting ready for installation. The guys at accuair sold me on it at EJS. Love to meet up with you guys and wheel in a camper gladiator in moab or other colorado trails when you are ready. Love the Channel always.
very curious about the bronco offering for their kit. i see it on the web page.
Send a few of these systems to Australia and lets see how they hold up after even 1 full year of hard offroading in remote back country.
Pretty great. Haven't seen price yet but compared to regular suspension lifts/upgrades this is probably on par but just way more trick and usable.
$7k
Tommy, you think you can say a few great word and have them send me a test kit to put on my 23 tundra trd off-road 4x4 to test it out. I think this system could possibly replace the disconnect sway bar. As a 20 year veteran, this is something that I can try out on the hill country of San Antonio Texas. Always love watching y’all’s videos and reviews.
Time for the TFL black wrangler to get this badass suspention
When will the392 be added to your list?
Tommy and Jeeps, doesn’t get any better
Cool cubed. But I'm really enjoying the high-speed desert running of the Gladiator Mojave. Would these do what the internal bypass reservoir shock/hydrolic jounce stop do?
Very interesting! Reminds me a little of dirt bike suspension, where KTM has went the way of air shocks.
Question though; do you see heat buildup offroad?
What about brutally cold weather? Does very low ambient temperature affect operation? What about when ice/snow fills the gap between the bag and sleeve?
At $7k this is a pipe dream for some of us 😂 Here in sunny South Africa, that is half the price of a good used JK.
So, a set of rear air helpers will have to do. 🤷♂️
seriously you can buy a good used jk for 14k ?
That's freaking cool wish they made one for a 2014 150
I want this for my 2023 Pilot.
Saw this on Wayalife’s channel. Cool stuff!
Tommy, very interested. Can you test this in a water crossing to submerge the compressors for reliability?
This will be great for my 2-door to help with… what??? …oh…just like 90% of flipping product line out there. 4-door only. Thanks AccuAir.
I'm sure you can make it work if you spend some time looking at the differences and reworking a few components.
@@ALMX5DP Yeah... I guess. But my brain says if I'm "making it work" I'm not spending $6000 on a fully developed kit just to "reinvent the wheel." You know...?
Uggghh.
"2-door Problems"
@@LukeEdward sure, just saying most of the work is probably done so just a matter of how eager you are to have this ability.
looking at their compressor skid and layout, I'd figure it's mounting room that becomes an issue more than anything. With enough demand, they may come out with a DIY setup but comments here might not help as much as an email/call.
Would be a great feature on the Gladiator, especially to handle heavy loads on the bed.
wow Tommy, that is one great episode looks like a great system.
Brilliant. This is the future.
7k seems insane for that suspension
Got everything for Wranglers now. Except a comfortable factory seat.
imagine the benefit on the road lower it to get those few mpg.
Great to see you really back at it off road. A comparison as you go over Black Bear Pass with your former equipment is going to be great :-).
$6999 usd!!! Plus installation for those that can’t do it or just don’t want to do it. $7,000 !!
It’s everything you thought you need and more granted, but it’s an expensive choice. If you breakdown the costs of some of the best kits combined as far as a 3.5”lift and then a set of top line Fox or King, maybe Icon shocks, then it starts to make a lot more sense. If you aren’t driving a Rubicon (2024 Willys get a true rear locker,,, much better) like the Willis or even better bang for the buck, Safari or Sport etc. then it’s even quite reasonable all things considered.
I live in Canada so that’s more like $9500 - 10,000 Canadian dollars (cad)!!! Ouch!
It’s an all in one with the bonus of it being a great air compressor as well for tire air up and some boats/toys/tents even, that you can air up.
Now I think I’ve convinced myself!! 😂😂. Now let’s see what the wife says!! 😮😮
Very interesting video. Moab would be a great test for that suspension.
Would like that on my 06 LJ.
Dang! I already have onboard air with a tank and I don’t see them sell anything other than a complete kit with tank and compressor included!
You guys guys need to build in a level and then program a one touch self level for camping. This could be done by programming a memory for level, and then just making it return
Now we're talking....a beauty
Thank God.I love my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2016.Great Vehicle.Lovely.👏👍💯🏆💝.
Wow, accuir is really making the UA-cam rounds.
So for us more rare guys with a JK that want to do an engine swap, I wonder if they are able to accommodate that. Would be really cool if they can. My biggest interest is on pavement driving characteristics. It's one of the most challenging things for a lift to get the right balance of ride and comfort on-road vs. the capabilities off-road. We have to get to the places we want to go off-roading and don't want a jarring ride that can shake fillings out. That really diminishes the benefit off-road since it is rare the Jeep is always used in that capacity. Also, curious to how it adapts to different size tires. If I want to run 35" tires (based on it being a 3.5 inch lift I would) how will it handle that vs. 33's or even going up to 37's. Lastly, it was mentioned new control arms and track bars. If you already have adjustable ones, is that really an expense you need to make? I get needing the adjustability, but if you have already made that investment, can you keep the components you have and just go with the airbags and compressor. Lots of questions, but not in the sense of tearing the product down but better understanding it and what to expect. Air systems have already proven themselves just on some military vehicles and I am genuinely curious about this one. It may change my whole long -term direction for my JK.
Found what I’m saving for lol
Ahh no questions about a JT ecodiesel version. Can you do a follow up question about that. They have one for the enemic 3.6. Eddie at Wayalife has had one on his JT for quite some time now.
Don’t like air systems in the low temperature winters. Had allot of problems with my ram trucks air suspension in the winter. Constantly trying to fill the bags.
You guys need to sell lift kits for ram trucks with oe airbags definitely would buy
Auto leveling over 25 mph? Self for camping? Air compression for airing up and down my tires? Added clearance on demand? Build for off road use? I love it!
I'm a long time Toyota buyer, but bored of 4Runners, after 12 years of using my FJ Cruiser and now my second 4Runners (same vehicle, different body lol), so i'm interested in getting into something different, in the mid size segment. Will this system work with a Gladiator? Gladiators aren't selling well where I live, so prices are excellent!
Great questions, Tommy!
Yes, they have a kit for the Gladiator. UA-camr Wayalife had their Gladiator for about 9 months for testing.
@@chiper4572 Thanks for the reply! I'll check that out now!
@@lunamaria1048 no problem, his videos have helped me to make the decision to go that route.
Added complexity
I'd LOVE to have this on my 3rd Gen Cummins Ram!
Does this stay within the limits of the shocks? Every lift I had needed matching shocks.
Funny. So many people talked crap about Land Rover for being on Air and now they are being fitted on a Wrangler of all vehicles. I mean, I'm all for it.
Amazing job!
is this for more overlanding and exploring or can u use this in deep mud or rock crawling
Please share how ride comfort compares to the original coil springs.
Ahhhh air bags that goooo boom like a gun shot
I had more than one Land Rover product that sagged on its air springs virtually from day 1. Not saying that will be an issue here. I have had (and currently have) other vehicles with air suspensions that have had 0 issues, so I know these suspensions can be amazing when they work correctly. I’m kind of wondering about why the system goes into manual mode below 25mph? It would seem a auto level mode at those speeds might be useful off road. Trying to manually adjust the suspension by individual corner would seem very difficult when moving. I can imagine that this could fantastic if it’s actually reliable and not too complicated to operate.
This is insane!! I wish it would be available for a GMC Sierra 1500! I have been looking for something like this but I doubt it's HD enough for that kind of tow rating
Check out the latest TrailMater vid. Rory rescues a 23,000 lb Earthroamer rig that has it. You can see the driver lift the front as it comes up on the road. 👍
