Evan, Carlin, Layla, & Izzy
Stockings were traditionally filled with fruit, nuts, and candy when I was young. For my family we used small gifts such as individual toys like cars, playdough, mini dolls, etc, candy, and other small goodies such as a brush or comb, hair barrettes, ties, etc.
Evan made such an improvement this year on his gingerbread house, if there were a prize it might have to go to him. I did love the look of Carlin's colorful roof too.

Once my children got a little older we started a tradition of 12 days of Christmas leading up to Christmas day. I would give them one thing from their stocking.(gum, candy, chap stick etc) each day. They would get up each morning excited to see their stocking treasure. It was like the Christmas countdown.
This looks like so much fun. Having all the family all together in one place. In Layla’s stocking you could add a my little pony, small Barbie doll, candy, bath paint….Both gingerbread houses look awesome.

Sorry I didn't make it from Michigan. Play sounds amazing! Love how you squeezed all your family in. I have never done a gingerbread house - they look way more time intensive than I would have expected. I would go with Layla's approach. Sit back, eat candy and watch you decorate.

I miss your blonde streaks Carlin. I love the packed house. It was like that at my grandparents house. I wonder how many we had looking back but it was fun. We kids, then, would sleep on quilts, giggle & talk about Santa on the roof, said we heard Rudolph on the roof. Christmas was so much fun back then. Now we're 73, we're all alone, even our grands live far away. This family has so much fun.
Carlin and Evan y’all are amazing. I loved Carlin’s comment “ he bombed it!“ LOL I think you mean he did amazing and killed it. Maybe I’m old-fashioned but bombed it means bad. Y’all are so awesome good job on the play also

I love how Evan used the icing to make it look like ice cycles hanging from the roof and I love the colorful roof of Carlynn's so I'd say it's a tie.

Y’all do stockings how ever YOU want to do stockings!!! In our family stocking are are big time… it’s everyone’s favorite part! :) For my kids I do candy, one of their favorite non candy treats, hygiene stuff(we have 16,14,10,6) art stuff, jewelry and hair/makeup stuff for the girls, small legos or stem stuff and game stuff for the boys, pop it’s, gift cards.. all kinds of stuff… stocking can be whatever you want and if you have stuff that doesn’t fit inside just set it behind the stocking ;)

Great video. My husbands family always did big oranges in the toe of the stocking. We do that along with chocolate oranges.
We did an apple, orange and snickers in all of our kids stockings. So much fun. Obviously the snickers was the first thing that they pulled out and ate.

Yes! we've had 14 people staying, for a week, in our 2 bedroom house before.... Someone even slept half way into our tiny laundry room on a camping stretcher bed.. Sooo chaotic but sooo many memories. 💖

Stocking stuffers are hard. We always get our kids a new tooth brush and socks and underwear. Some people do little baby oranges. Look up church toys they always fit and then you can use them when you go out . Those little poppers are a hit right now , even toddlers love love love them.

17:00. I have never made a gingerbread house before. I am 49 years old and I am not intrigued about buying a gingerbread house kit--hahaha. That looks like fun!

It’s awesome that your family is so flexible. That’s how it used to be when my hubby’s family would get together at any of our family member’s houses. I’m sure you did a great job Evan. Both of your houses looked great! I liked Carlin’s roof- I have never seen that technique before. I like Evan’s snow piping.
I’m so behind on videos but also loving that I have bunch to watch looked like a blast and an amazing play.

Some ideas for stockings - new tooth brush, crayons, pencils, stickers, candy (of course), hair brush/comb, snacks (snak pack crackers, cookies, chips, etc.) hair ties, socks, juice box. When Layla is older you can put small dolls and doll accessories (bottles, clothes, etc.) fake makeup. Just a few suggestions. I hate stockings sometimes because they can be hard to buy for, just think fun, practical, small needs, and snacks lol

I think Evan won the gingerbread house contest. I think this because I enjoy simple things. For stocking stuffers, you can just go right through the girl's toy aisle at Walmart, and just about anything small will work.

For our stockings when I was a child there was always nuts, an orange or an apple in the bottom , socks, coloring books, new colors or markers, new tooth brushes and a fun cup or flashlights ,

We did ours with the kids
We put them together first, let them dry because last year like Evan, we couldn't get them to stay together. It's a great tradition. Love the amount of content in your videos.

Melt sugar for gingerbread house instead of using the icing, to build. Sticks much better and once you put it together it will stay together

Gift cards, candy, small toys like baby dolls, hot wheels cars, crayons, etc. are good stocking stuffers!
I had the same problem when my grandson and I tried last year to put one together, it wouldn't stay and I did see they had ones that were already put together, thought that was a great idea.
I have to say they were both really nice just different.
I hope Layla didn't have a hard time sleeping after eating all that candy.

I'm so glad that your Christmas play was so well received and touched people's hearts. I know that was the goal and what ya'll prayed for. I think Evan's gingerbread house is more classic like a Hallmark movie and Carlin's is creative and spunky. Both are great! The best part was Layla getting messy!

For stockings… my parents always did a pack of markers or pens, notebook, fruit chocolate candy They set the stocking out and set items next to it not necessarily in it

For the tiny tots, I always put Play-Doh, Stacking toys (like the cups), Little People, small sensory toys, age appropriate musical instruments (like maracas), Duplos, a new toothbrush, or a new pair of jammies. 😁🥰🎉 Think of the small toys she already loves and then add a small book and other small necessities into the stocking. Usually keeps them very happy. I still do a combo of fun things for my boys and they are both teens. 😁😁😁

For stockings I’ll get some candy jewelry socks ect. Not everything fits and I love how it overflows. I’ll take them off and set them with all the presents under the tree. I love when the stockings over flow. Merry Christmas and many blessings in the new year . Been watching since bringing up bates first came out!!
