The Ferryman Dad would have been blown away, I'm sure, as he was such a humble fella and never considered himself any better than anyone else. He'll be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Can just imagine Eamonn, Ronnie, Barney, Luke and the clancy's n Tommy Makem in the great bar in the heavens where age and illness have no meaning restored in all their glory having a bash with the music we have all lived our lives to with of course a small refreshment. A glass raised and raised again to them all and to the Campbell family for giving us a loan of Eamonn all these years. Love and memories never die.
As a deep lover of Irish music I had a chance to listen to the band Dubliners Leged in Maynooth Hotel on our last visit in July 2013. As foreign guests I and my wife my wife were invited to backstage after the concert to talk with the members of The Dublin Legeds. Friendly guys all of them. We are sorry to hear now, several months afterwards, that Eamonn Campbell has passed away. Rest In Peace like all the other Dubliners who through death have left this lovely Irish band during the decades. Pertti from Finland.
Eamonn Campbell was a Truly Magical Master Guitarist with Spirit and an Irish Soul that transcended All who were Fortunate to see and listen to him perform in person. For someone like me from Maine in New England, who never attended a " Dubliners " Concert, but just learned about them, listening and seeing a Video like their 40th Anniversary live Concert at the Gaiety Concert Hall when they performed " The Irish Rover ". - Eamonn's cutting loose with James McCann, or dancing a jig and playing his Guitar at the same time ~ Goose Bumps appear on yourself. Performing with Johann Sebastian Sheahan Marino Casino and closing with Two Reels and a Jig, the sheer Joy and at the same instant, the Concentration of Eamonn and John playing as 1 is a Treasure to watch and listen to !!!
Eamon Campbell was a great man, I had the chance to meet him a few times, see him on stage and offstage: A nice gentle person and a very good musician who had something to give ! Mr Campbell all the best to your travel round our small world, you are on our mind.
I was a friend of Barney Mc Kenna. Met Eamon in Barneys bar on eden quay. What a pleasure. He was so unassuming and yet, a real genious and top asset to The Dubliners. was shocked when I heared he had died. God bring him to his reward. A real humble and gentle human being. The kind of person that gives you faith in mankind
Honest opinion was a Brilliant Guitarist and musical arranger . I had the great privilege of meeting and conversing with Eamon. While I appreciate the song etc mit it no way repreclates the wonder of Eamon . RIP.
A real Dubliner.....you gave us so much joy. I only met you once, but I will always remember your smile and happiness, rest in peace......I can almost hear you, Ronnie, Barney, Luke and Ciaran playing.
Sadly, I only just discovered the Dubliners in the last year or so, but have watched and listened almost constantly since. I've become a fan of each of the lads through the whole history of the group. Eamonn was a real character and a damn fine musician. It is easy to see that even before he was "in" the Dubliners, he was "part" of them, and a valued part. Good man, Eamonn. R.I.P.
Ein wahnsinnig GUTER und bodenständiger Musiker der ein unfaßbar guter KÖNNER seines Faches war. Ruhe in Frieden mein Freund.... schade das es Sie nicht mehr gibt
Bloody hell, I hadn't realised he has passed. What a talented musician and fitted so well in the Dubs. I am so sad that yet another one of these legends are no longer with us.
I met Eamonn in the bar at Sheffield City Hall, my mate and I wer first in and in the empty bar there the man was, leaning on the bar with a half pint in his hand, he turned his head and quietly sed 'Alright lads', and apart from 'Alright Eamonn', i cudn't think of anythin else to add. The bar filled up quickly and Eamonn was happily chatting away to all and sundry. What stood out for me at that show was near the end and everyones having fun, Eamonn started doing the duck walk, and pulled his lead out, and the blues riff went quickly quiet 😂 I saw him again in the early 90s at doncaster dome again with the dubs, another fine performance, his guitar work added so much, compared to early dubs music, taking nothing away from any other guitarists the band have had, Eamonn was 'the' guitarist in my opinion, and a gentleman. May he rest in peace. God bless you Eamonn, and thank you 👏
I have loved traditional Irish music and song all my life. I play banjo fiddle flute button box guitar .and much more.I am so sad to hear of your parting .but you're music still lives in me.God bless you my freind
I met Eamon once in the Ferryman pub in Dublin. I approached him, only to ask could I shake his hand. He pulled me in, sat me down, asked would I like a photograph, and signed my Ireland Jersey. An absolute gentleman. I now have a lovely picture of us both that I will hopefully one day show my grandkids and explain to them, this kids, is a proper musician, go onto UA-cam or whatever it will be in 50/60 years time and type in Eamon Campbell. I was sorry to hear he'd passed away only weeks after. Rip Eamon.
so sad to hear of Eamonn's passing, spoke to him in Hamburg in 2011 and a lovely man to speak to. met all the Dubliners as we were in the same hotel for the concert. happy memories. R.I.P. Eamonn.
What a wonderful tribute! I loved this man although I've never met him he has brought joy to me so often through his talent and his smile. He will never be forgotten, a truly good man and amazing musician. RIP
Many of us leave this beautiful earth leaving a few family a few friends but you my man have so with both but in there millions R.I.P a true entertainer !
I only found out the other day that Mr Campbell had passed. I'm deeply saddened yet enriched by every note I heard him play and every grin I saw him crack. Sadly only ever on videos, never in real life. Belated condolences.
Great guy👌 Remember back in -95 when I first saw the lads play live (Stockholm waterfestival) As me and my friends made our way thru the crowds of People to get near the stage they played "Rocky Road To Dublin" and Eamonns deep bass in the chorus sent chivers down the spine. To this day I have never been struck by a Song quite like this again. Cheers to you Eamonn wherever you may be🍻
Jesus I can't believe I'm only finding out about this now. Eamonn always stood out no matter what Dubliners song you watched, he always had a certain thing about him that made him unique, whether it's his look, personality or the way he performed he always looked like a lovely bloke and it's sad to see him go. RIP Eamonn a true Dublin Legend
I just found out today that Eamonn had passed in Oct. :( I'm still not over the passing of Jim (2015), nor Barney (2012), Ronnie (2008), Ciaran (1988), Luke (1984) and Bobby (1982) I'd love to see John, Paddy and Patsy get together for one more show.
One of Ireland's best musicians. What an unsung legend. He'll be sorely missed. Loads of great performances to watch, but my favs will always be himself and Barney knocking out a few tunes. RIP Eamonn
I hadn't even known that Eamonn had died until a couple of weeks ago when I phoned home(in Florida now 2yrs)I was deeply saddened what a lovely man he was always thought he was the craic of the Dubliners the big smile always ready to have a laugh and a bit of craic a truly lovely genuine man .rip Eamonn ya true legend what a player you were.thanks.
i conal sharkey shared a house with eamon in south dublin many years ago he was a friendly man and i used to love to hear his music as i opened the front door eamons flat was below i was upstairs he was a great music man may he rest in peace i regret his passing very mutch
My very, very, deepest condolences, two of my favourite musicians taken from us, Eamonn Campbell and Fats Domino! The many, many hours of joy they brought me just listening to them, they'll live forever in my heart. Fat man, you stirred my soul, and Eamonn your guitar playing was absolutely superb and spurred me on in my own guitar playing! From the first time I heard the Dubliners I believed that I was an Irishman born into the wrong body and the wrong country, English by birth, but Irish by wishful thinking! R.I.P. gentlemen, the heavenly chorus has just gained two more extraordinary musicians to their ranks! Paddy Campbell and family, my thoughts are with you, may God bless you all!
First time i saw the Dubliners at Sheffield City Hall, my mate and I were first in the downstairs bar, but we weren't tho, a lone bearded gentleman was stood at the bar enjoying a quiet pint. He turned his head to us and said "alright lads", and we answered "alright Eamonn", wish I'd offered to buy him a pint !
Farewell old Dubliner, you may be gone but your music and your spirit lives on in everyone you played to. A credit to your profession and an embassador for your nation. A wonderful tribute to a wonderfui man....
So sad when men like this have to leave us gone to take his place in Tir Na Nog to play for the great chieftens and where his beautiful smile will last forever. Such a talent and grounded man.
Since i can imagine (and now im 24 nearle 1/4 century) he was my inspiration!! He came from nowhere and then he was a PRO! He was there and no one could imagine that hes gone! He will play in my heath forever !!!!!
I remember thirty years ago when he was playing with the dubliners at the pavilion in Glasgow, He spotted me trying to check out his guitar chords during a song, He caught my eye and motioned his fretting hand towards me and nodded his head , A gentleman .
I’ve only just found this news out. I never heard anything about his passing. When did this happen? I’m 22 but my parents and grandparents brought me up listening to all kinds of Irish music but I became fond of The Dubliners. 🇮🇪
JayDon Saoirse na hÉireann does it really matter? We are all here to appreciate a talented man. Let’s not get on our high horse looking for grammar mistakes 👍
On behalf of myself and the rest of the Campbell family could I just say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this beautiful tribute.

A lovely gifted person. I met min in Matt Molloys bar
His guitar play gave the Dubs from 1987 on a very special note. Fantastic and unique sound with John‘s fiddle play and the unique voices.
