    Hi Mike. I have been watching your videos all the time if I have a problem, it helps a lot, thank you. watching you have a hard time to put the aperture blades into the lens every time, I did too. I just want to share my 2 cents with you and everybody. after you put all blades on the aperture base, use a small Round Disc Magnet to hold blades in the center, the blades won't move with a light impact, it helps you install it easily, after you tighten the screws you can move the magnet to the side and lift it up with a tweezers.

    Hi. Thank you for your video. I think removing two brass rail rods then seperate the barrel aseembly and housing is way much easier than your method. Your method is great for removing dust in the aperture room though.

    Hi, Mikeno, I’ve just bought a Planar 50 1.7 with fungus and?’ve cleaned most of them. I only have to clean the fungus between the first and the second front lenses, but I don’t know how to separate them. Do you know how to do it? Thanks a lot for all your videos!!! Best regards

    Nice job ! A little narration would make it more pleasurable however. I wish you would tackle the same job on a 6006/SLX 80mm Planar. (with the shutter and diaphragm blades incorporated)

    great! I just got this lens, this by far sharpest 50mm from f2 to f4 I have tested .It does show CA under f4 (purple) . The only other as sharp lens in 50s is the 58mm topcor 1.8 (with alot less CA)... by way any chance the iris can be upgraded to an iris module with many blades

    Can I ask you a question in how to separate the 1st front end lens that is in a module? I have fungus between the 1st and 2nd lens in the the front end module. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

    My front element where the filter diameter is is loose...is this a normal thing for these lenses? I do have a stuck filter on it too..

    Love these videos! I wonder if you’ve ever worked with the contax zeiss 100mm f3.5. As far as I can tell it’s a unique design that is more complicated to assemble, and I’ve been unable to find any examples of how it’s constructed.

    hi, do you maybe know how to take apart the first two lens elements of the front lens group?
    it looks like they are glued inside a housing

    First of all: This Video features the MM Version of this Lense and one of the earlier ones.
    I got an AE Version for my girlfriend and im stuck with it. There was oil on the aperture blades, I disassembled the whole thing like in the video, cleaned it by putting the aperture mechanism into Isopropanol since it cant be opened (The difference to the MM Version - a russian website showed it this way) and then i tried to get it back together but i think something went wrong cause the lever that opens and closes the aperture blades (13:41) goes exactly the other way around. After two hours of trying and searching for a way that could work i just put the lense back together -the result: I cant use the aperture ring anymore with this lense, its always wide open cause theres no contact between the ring and the aperture inside.
    Do you have an idea how this could work again? Have you ever disassembled an AE one before?

      It's pretty simple: when you put the aperture gear back in the lens, keep the little lever that's on the rear side of the lens (on the mount) pulled, and release it only after the aperture gear is in place. If you just put the gear back without keeping the lever pulled, the mechanism in the aperture and the mechanism in the mount won't be connected and the blades will just stay open regardless of the ring position.

    How did you learn how to disassemble one? I am considering doing it to mine to remove internal dust. Is there a written manual somewhere?

    i just got myself a copy of this lens and i noticed the aperture blades make an uneven aperture shape. is it possible to correct the shape and realign the blades? thanks!

      Hi
      It look's like one or more blades in your lens has come out of place, because the lens has been dropped. It's a common fail with some lenses, but if you follow the steps in the film it's not that difficult to repair.
      On the other hand, If you want to clean the aperture blades and the rest of the aperture system (the upper and lower ring), just use 99% isopropylalcohol.
      Cheers

    Hi, I bought a custom cinegear for the focus ring on this lens that slides on. It went on really snug, so I had to push it on hard. I ended up overshooting the correct position, so I had to bring the gear back in towards the front of the lens, it took a little force, but when I did it pulled the focus ring out of place a little towards the front and I could see some of the inside parts. I tried to push it back down into place, and it seemed to have worked, but after I tried it out focusing from 2ft to infinity a few times, it slipped, and now the ring is stuck in place at .6ft and wont move. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  8 років тому

      I sound's like you have broken or bend some part's inside the focus, because it look's like the focus thread are comming out of correct place, You could try to follow the disassemble tutorial in this film, but remember to set small mark's before you unscrew part's, also take a lot's of pictures so you have some sorts of backup.
      Cheers
      Kenneth

    Why are you making so many marks after you took the name plate down? I cant' see the relevance in any way.

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  5 років тому

      Because it's the only reference points I have when I assembled it again, and there is no (0) repair manual for this old lens.
      Here is another video about the same lens, with a sticky focus ring / focus assmbly, were I also set a lot's of small marks:

    Real JIS ones from Moody Tools ? Posh. :)

      Dorf Schmidt I look around to find the name "Precision" but there where not the same screwdrivers like I have, but guess the quality is almost same.
      But I use a PH00 and modified it, by file the sharp tip off so it fit perfect in the screw head, so it works just like a normal JIS screwdriver like the one you can buy here:
