I remember i went for a job as one of these people in sydney it was DODGY, every week was a different charity and you sold "raffle tickets" door to door, the job was commission only. So if you didnt sell any you made nothing for the day. getting paid commision on charity "donations" wasnt bad enough only 5% of the ticket price went to the chairty themself

Most workers in the industry last less than 6 months, it's hilarious that for how many charities they represent, the workers probably need one for themselves.

I can’t believe these types of sales still exist. I used to do sales and I’m glad I was never put in events, 1 was their standard. Imagine being rejected so often your life expectancy would drop by 5 years each day. Anyway they annoy the shit out of me. I hate being rude to them because I don’t want to ruin their day, but it’s the only way to not talk to them.

I know from experience, this is 100% accurate!! Funny too but when I was bullied on the phone recently for not donating despite telling them the truth as to why I couldn't even though you can't choose your amount. Someone else told me too when they door knocked in their area they were trying to manipulate them although they knew their elderly neighbours weren't either apparently they're "a bad person" for not doing monthly payments but they said they'd do a once off "gift"?

I doubt anyone wakes up and decides to randomly donate to a charity so think about these people as more of someone who just encourages and inspires people to help out fantastic causes although this is funny it's still the best way to help charity

What gets me is these bottom feeders are allowed to harass people in the shopping centre as they try to go about their business. While old mate sitting quietly with a little cardboard sign outside the entrance,(who is sincerely thankful for just a few coins) gets forced to move on. Now I know which one I choose to support and that choice leaves me feeling like I've done something worthwhile.

This is exactly what happens some days when you walk past past Wynyard station to get lunch. They often don't want a lump sum donation but want you to subscribe to a weekly donation (which is probably near impossible to cancel).
Even avoiding eye contact and looking at your phone isn't always enough to sneak past them so I find that when they approach and they say "Hi", giving them a firm "No", or "Yeah Nah" very quickly shakes them off. Being apologetic or making excuses will just drive them to hound you more.
